Versions before e5e2fd0a5209b0d07233d294e0ace5f1e41dfed5 work fine 2. After that commit, the game was rendering a pure black 3D view when playing in "windowed" mode 3. Between e5e2fd0a5209b0d07233d294e0ace5f1e41dfed5 and now, there was a change that made the game actually render "correctly", but with a lot of flickers and performance issues. (I haven't had the time to bisect what commit fixed the black screen and started causing the flickers and performance issues) One curious thing that I found is that, when playing the game in full screen in older Wine versions, even versions that does not contain the regression, if you put the game in fullscreen the game renders, albeit when using the default view (the one with the 2D instrument panel) it has the same slow downs that are present in the newer Wine versions when playing in windowed mode with the default view. So maybe the code path is related? There is also a maybe related regression, where the game also does not work in full screen in newer versions. Thus only the 32-bit dll is available and the 64-bit test is skipped. The crash happens in the following call: hr = IAssemblyCache_InstallAssembly(cache, 0, L"wine.dll", NULL); But skipping this call just moves the crash to the next InstallAssembly() call. It's not clear whether the crash is caused by the NULL RefData pointer: the crash still happens if I pass a non-NULL but pretty empty FUSION_INSTALL_REFERENCE structure (in particular szNonCannonicalData == NULL). Exact failure scenario varies between configurations - 32bit/64bit, static/DLL runtime. Sighted: crashes, E_INVALIDARG, nonsensical values given by Gdiplus immediately after using Windows Imaging. This program - as far as I know - never fails on actual Windows machine, unless somehow entirely missing JPEG decoder.
