It is now possible to accept the EULA and the installation window also shows up but the downloader doesn't download anything. No winetricks used. Installation OK. Can open an MP4 video (see #58716 for issue opening a JPEG). Works well - can move within the video, make adjustments (alter contrast, white balance, add vignette and light leak effects etc) with animated mouseover previews of the effects - but crashes with the attached back trace on saving the video after selecting size / format. Happens with asking for both .mov and .mp4 output. When running Dorico 4, it repeatedly tries to call the unimplemented function "vcruntime140.dll.__C_specific_handler_noexcept". As per https://source.winehq.org/WineAPI/vcruntime140.html, this function is not implemented currently. Wine aborts the call, however the program repeatedly attempts to call the same function, eventually causing a stack overflow, crashing the program. The two specific APIs for this are WinVerifyTrust and CryptCATAdminEnumCatalogFromHash. Non-exhaustive list of things I know in particular: - Games using TPShell protector > Dec 2025 (Duet Night Abyss, ...). Check triggers if the module is attempted to be loaded from KiUserApcDispatcher/KiUserCallbackDispatcher. This results in winex11.drv, uxtheme.dll, ... being rejected, as they don't have a trusted signature. Verification is by both VerifyTrust and CatalogFromHash. Testing is hindered by kernel driver. - Honkai: Star Rail wants d3d9.dll, d3d11.dll, dxgi.dll to be present in CatalogFromHash, terminates on load otherwise. Previous mention of similar issue: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=54836 . Mentions that "it may deserve some discussion", which I assume never took place. A potential solution I see is to allow (optionally?) specifying a certificate and a signing key at ./configure time, which would then be used to sign the DLLs, afterwards a catalog will be generated and signed by it too. The certificate would then be installed via wine.inf. This however comes at a cost of technically making builds non-reproducible, unless the signing key is public? Alternatively, maybe it could be possible to generate a new authority on every ./configure? When another thread runs ExitProcess() this will cause a SIGQUIT signal to all threads, effectively decrementing nb_threads twice. The process will terminate with a wrong exitcode then because the refcount reaches zero too early. Currently Wine has no locking protection of LdrShutdownProcess(), so it can only be executed safely when all other threads have terminated before.
