As a testcase 「虚毒ノ夢」 will be used - a (it seems - I don't actually know Japanese) freeware game available from https://kanawo.wixsite.com/teritoma/kodoku (first link is the download: https://www.freem.ne.jp/dl/win/15104) Problem 1. As you might notice, the window title is purely mojibake. CreateWindowEx expects CP_ACP string in cs->lpszName, but it's getting an utf8 one. That's pretty much sums up what I could figure out about this part. Problem 2. This one is more tricky to notice; also, I couldn't figure out much about it, so just describing symptoms. Some of the strings printed on the screen (AFAICT neither by gdi, gdiplus nor user32 standard text functions) are read from memory then written on the screen past their actual length. What's more, they flicker - that is if such string is printed, some of the time its extra part changes upon redraw. As far as I understand mono (which, granted, isn't all that much), it would suggest that upon string object creation its length is set incorrectly. While with Wine 1.6.2 program crashed when clicking on "Anzeige -> Monatsanzeige Liste" (view full month), this is now fixed with latest version Wine 1.7.33 - thanks for that :) But one problem remains: go to "Kalender" -> "Neues Ereignis eingeben" (enter new event) then select the tab "monatlich" (monthly) find "Mittwoch" (wednesday) in the drop down menu. Only if "Sonntag" (sunday) is selected, the app freezes, 100% CPU. This action prepares an event to be scheduled every first sunday each month, so obviously some problem with day of week calculation. The issue only occurred after upgrading from Wine version 11.0.1 to 11.1-2. The issue is not resolved by: - Deleting the Wine prefix (rm -rf ~/.wine) and reinstalling the game - Deleting the safefile of the game (rm -rf ~/'NFS Most Wanted') - Disconnecting all USB peripherals, except the gamepad, before starting the game - Using another USB port for the gamepad, a different USB cable or a different gamepad of the same type Furthermore the gamepad causes no problems in other games that are installed outside of Wine. It looks to me like this should be possible just like it is possible with WriteEndElement. I have also noticed that native xmllite sometimes breaks(not sure whether this is a feature or a bug) but at times native xmllite doesn't write new lines after writing the elements. I'm not sure how exactly this happens but the possible work-around in this is to manually write new lines(with WriteWhitespace) which means this issue could easily break working code. I'm not sure how to fix this right away so I am submitting a bug. Background-Color ("control"-color) seems to be taken from (ugly) classic theme - WineHQ is set to Aero, though. With installed MS .NET 4.8, it looks like on real Windows-machines. So, I assume, colors are hardcoded at wine-mono? Is there any ENV to change this behaviour? I found "FEATURE_WINDOWS_SYSTEM_COLORS" on source-code, which decides if wine-mono reads colors from windows-system. But it seems to be a compiler-flag?
