Now go into the game, configure the wheel and notice force feedback does not work. Downgrading to Wine 5 (The latest previous version available before 7 on my system) works without issue. My laptop has two screens, the top one has a resolution of 2560x1600 (which is correctly detected by the Wayland driver). The bottom one is a resolution of 2560x1100. On X11 the image is scaled properly on the top screen but the detected resolution is wrong (it detects the top screen as 3840x1400). Ensure the Playlist panel is visible (View -> Playlist). Click on the top of the playlist window. The application GUI freezes permanently. Analysis / Root Cause: By adding extensive custom tracing to dlls/comctl32/listview.c, an infinite WM_PAINT loop was identified. Here is what happens during a single iteration of the loop: WM_PAINT is dispatched, calling LISTVIEW_Refresh. LISTVIEW_Refresh sets infoPtr->bIsDrawing = TRUE and starts drawing. During the drawing process, the listview sends NM_CUSTOMDRAW (stage CDDS_PREPAINT / CDDS_ITEMPREPAINT) to the parent window (MPC-BE). The parent's custom draw handler executes logic that indirectly triggers a layout update of the listview (e.g., via SetWindowPos on the header or changing item metrics). This layout update calls LISTVIEW_UpdateSize, which eventually calls LISTVIEW_InvalidateList. LISTVIEW_InvalidateList calls LISTVIEW_InvalidateRect(infoPtr, NULL), marking the entire client area as dirty. LISTVIEW_Refresh finishes and sets infoPtr->bIsDrawing = FALSE. Because the client area was invalidated during step 6, the system immediately generates a new WM_PAINT message. The cycle repeats indefinitely. Native Windows does not freeze, suggesting it ignores invalidation requests while the control is already actively painting itself. The Fix: The LISTVIEW_INFO structure already contains the bIsDrawing flag specifically to prevent reentrancy issues. The fix is to simply return early from LISTVIEW_InvalidateList if bIsDrawing is TRUE. Since LISTVIEW_Refresh is currently repainting the entire visible area anyway, queuing another full invalidation is both redundant and dangerous. When launching a fullscreen game using Wine's Wayland drivers (by utilizing `env -u DISPLAY game.exe` the game launches on my secondary monitor no matter what you try doing. I've determined this is because my graphics drivers have that monitor set as "monitor 1". If I try to move the window to my other monitor, the window snaps back immediately to it's original position. Windowed applications also spawn only on "monitor 1" but allow themselves to be moved to another monitor. However, they retain the resolution/scaling/etc from their original position and do not update to match the new monitor. Notably, it seems like the .msi file by Kontakt 8 extracted to C:\Windows\Installer is malformed in some way - trying to open it with msitools yields "Table size is invalid 148/3" when loading _Tables (and this is in the Wine logs as well), and real Windows agrees with this. The string pool seems to have a lot of empty(?) entries at the end (see string_totalsize traces), which for 8 is enough to push it past the 2^16 threshold in msi_save_string_table (https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/blob/4dfbf077cf708e4bbffa8e086d78d665…) This then makes the _Tables table fail to load. If I run the installer in a windows VM, the dropped .msi file won't have the blank entries at the end, and will install correctly (with a string pool size of ~50k rather than ~80k). In Kubuntu 25.10 I was not being able to reproduce this crash - any project opens successfully for editing. I tried to install in fresh prefix, but with 6.14, after more than 10 minutes in state "Updating Battle.net update Agent", I gave up. With 6.11, installation completed in about 1 minute.
