At about 70% it stops with the following message: 'Your installation encountered errors. Installer failed to initialize. This could be due to a missing file'. Wiping the installation and running `winetricks msxml3` before the installer allow the installer to initialise. I tried installing Buhl Data "T(a)x 2014" several times, but it keeps crashing after the first step of entering the product-key and klicking on 'weiter' (engl: 'next'). See attached crashdump for details. I'm no programmer, and couldn't find anything in particular in there to troubleshoot this issue. The game has a "slowdown" feature, where holding the Shift key makes the character you're playing as move slowly while you're moving it, but what happens here is that it feels like this key is kept being held down even if I'm not even touching it, despite me being able to type normally under the initial DOS command prompt. I then tried updating Wine to version 9999 (the live ebuild, updated on the latest commit), but no difference whatsoever. The console .exe only has one function, no GUI or anything. The console application basically obfuscates a file. Command: ConsoleApp.exe FileName.dylib I have tried Wine (stable or development builds) and while I can run the console application fine, and it exits with "Success", the problem is the output file that is ran using Wine on Linux has a slight difference compared to the output file that was ran using the same .exe but on Windows. After investigating the console .exe program, we found out that the whole problem was due to a piece of code in the .exe "ftell function". Wine apparently doesn't support it? Or something similar because if we compare the two output files, the only difference is in here: http://i.imgur.com/vghTN2X.png Left is Wine on Linux (Ubuntu) and Right is normal Windows OS output file. I found this while trying to troubleshoot some invalid values I was getting from GetOutlineTextMetrics(). Unfortunately, calling the proper freetype function only fixed some of them. I believe there's an uninitialized value being used somewhere for otmfsType.
