[Bug 60035] New: Program freezes after a few operations
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60035 Bug ID: 60035 Summary: Program freezes after a few operations Product: Wine Version: 11.13 Hardware: x86-64 OS: Linux Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: -unknown Assignee: wine-bugs@list.winehq.org Reporter: robin@lenkeninternational.co.uk Target Milestone: --- Distribution: --- This applies to an old Windows PIM program called InfoCentral 7, which is freely downloadable from here: https://www.macros.koenecke.us/InfoCentral/resources/SetupIC.exe It has been working on my system (OpenSUSE Tumbleweed KDE) for many years. After a WINE update to version 11.13 it exhibited a complete freeze after a few operations, such as switching between tabs within the program. This was unrecoverable and required the program to close. It works fine under WINE 11.11. InfoCentral runs in a dedicated WINEPREFIX. It will run under any Windows version and default settings for winecfg. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. If so, please run a regression test. https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/wikis/Regression-Testing And you need to attach the console output. https://gitlab.winehq.org/wine/wine/-/wikis/Bugs -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60035 --- Comment #2 from Rob <robin@lenkeninternational.co.uk> --- I can confirm the problem still occurs in a clean WINEPREFIX. In this test case the freeze was caused by Alt-Tab to a browser, then Alt-Tab back to InfoCentral which was then unresponsive. I will move to regression testing, but this might take me some time. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. Maybe fixed by later 11.13 commit d30dcd75bc9? -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. You are receiving this mail because: You are watching all bug changes.
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60035 --- Comment #4 from Rob <robin@lenkeninternational.co.uk> --- Thanks for testing. I used the same database for the trial that I have always used, but I doubt very much that it's database dependent. There is one other Windows program I use fairly regularly: Microsoft Money. This does not suffer the same problem. It has always had occasional freezes but these are few and far between. The issue for me is limited to InfoCentral, where it is frequent enough to make the program unusable, but I will check out the next WINE version for sure. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60035 --- Comment #5 from Rob <robin@lenkeninternational.co.uk> --- Sorry to have had no opportunity to run a regression test yet. The only addition I can make at the moment is that the problem remains the same in WINE version 11.14 -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60035 --- Comment #6 from Rob <robin@lenkeninternational.co.uk> --- Tried the upgrade to 11.15. No recurrence of the problem yesterday or today, so it looks fixed. Thanks to the devs who maintain such a vital piece of software. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
