It looks like there are duplicate entries in there from me running the installer multiple times, but the errors don't look particularly descriptive. Would it potentially be helpful for me to run wireshark or similar and capture what it's trying to do? I haven't done that before so I may need some handholding. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59683 --- Comment #5 from Vishnunithyasoundhar S <svishnunithyasoundhar@gmail.com> --- I see that you are using a IE9 Vista installer. ```snippet 1 00:05.251: ERROR: Unable to create process 'C:\windows\system32\pkgmgr.exe /quiet /norestart /ip /m:C:\windows\TEMP\IE9b7c.tmp\IE9-neutral.Extracted.cab /s:C:\windows\TEMP\IE9b7c.tmp\PackageFiles', errorID = 0x00000002 (2) ``` I suspect the downloader has downloaded your package and trying to call pkgmgr.exe (Vista's package manager) And from the below comment: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26757#:~:text=snip%20%2D%2D%2D-,Wind... pkgmgr.exe support - direct support doesn't exist as far as I see ---- Someone has created a pkgmgr.exe stub in this bug report which is basically similar to your, you can try that, but I don't see them claiming it works. https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=29578 ---- -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59683 --- Comment #6 from Hamish McIntyre-Bhatty <winehq@regd.hamishmb.com> --- I think you're right. I could also try the Windows 7 installer again to see if that works better? I assumed the version for the earliest version of Windows possible would have the highest chance of working. Seeing as IE9 tabs work in IETester (see on the appdb), I assume that it is possible to make IE9 work. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59683 --- Comment #7 from Hamish McIntyre-Bhatty <winehq@regd.hamishmb.com> --- Looks like the Windows 7 IE9 installer silently succeeds, but doesn't do anything as DISM is a stub I think? http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59683 --- Comment #8 from Vishnunithyasoundhar S <svishnunithyasoundhar@gmail.com> --- I see... I guess one way to make IE9 work for you would be to find a direct installation directory. As in something that would not rely on these pkgmgr or dism, and just has either the IE9 executable or setup. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59683 --- Comment #9 from Hamish McIntyre-Bhatty <winehq@regd.hamishmb.com> --- Yeah, I guess that could work. I tried copying dism over from my Windows 7 VM, but it still didn't do anything. I'll try the pkgmgr at some point, but I don't currently have a copy of Windows Vista so that'll have to be later. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply. http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=59683 --- Comment #10 from Hamish McIntyre-Bhatty <winehq@regd.hamishmb.com> --- I could probably also install the Windows 7 version semi-manually by using wimlib: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Wim I'll try that, if I can figure out what wim files to download, or if the installer doesn't delete them. -- Do not reply to this email, post in Bugzilla using the above URL to reply.
