which have been mentioned as "must-have" applications by

problems or problems that don't get in the way of testing.

Summary: Kid Pix Deluxe 4 menus and text entry extremely
unresponsive
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
On a Compaq Presario R3000 laptop with a zippy Athlon 64
running 32 bit Fedora Core 3, Kid Pix 4 installs
reasonably well -- it does put up a dialog box saying
"Requires Internet Explorer", but seems to otherwise
complete installation ok.
When you start the app, it refuses to start unless
it can access the sound card. Wine's error log
says you need to run winecfg and select emulated
sound. Doing so lets you run the app. Basic drawing
works, but the sound is a bit choppy and screwy,
and text entry and especially menus are very
slow and unresponsive.

Running with WINEDEBUG=+module,+seh for catching unhandled exception
The unhandled exception comes up each time the program starts. By capturing the
log I noticed there is a hardcoded default in MOULDE_GetLoadOrderW for
ntoskrnl.exe. So I captured the +module traces along with the +seh.

Summary: Unhandled dwRenderStateType playing DeusEx
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-ddraw
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: storri(a)torri.org
Found that I got error messages trying to play DeusEx that spoke about direct
draw. They were messages saying that certain state types were not handled:
err:ddraw:set_render_state Unhandled dwRenderStateType
D3DRENDERSTATE_LINEPATTERN (0000000a) value : 00000000 !
trace:ddraw:set_render_state D3DRENDERSTATE_MONOENABLE = 00000000
Also others:
err:ddraw:create_dib CreateDIBSection failed!
err:ole:CoGetClassObject class {92fa2c24-253c-11d2-90fb-006008a1f441} not
registered
err:region:CombineRgn Invalid rgn=(nil)
You will find a log output from running wine as:
WINEDEBUG=+ddraw,+region,+ole wine DeusEx.exe &>/tmp/ddraw.log
Occassionally, as the attached log captures, I get an unhandled exception.

This bug can be replicated with Filezilla using wine-20050930
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/filezilla/FileZilla_2_2_16_setup.exe?dow…
1. Install Filezilla
2. FTP into the server of your choice
3. Click and drag files from the server to your local machine (to copy them)
4. Realize now that even though the files have been copied to your machine, you
are still dragging the files around

Summary: Warcraft 3 Installer
Product: Wine
Version: 20050930
Platform: PC
OS/Version: FreeBSD
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: walker_643(a)yahoo.com
Given an installation of wine linked to a full win98 partition, mounting
Warcraft3 CD and typing 'wine install.exe' brings up hollow install scren; in
other words, it has a title bar and borders but the client area is transparent;
no contents.
I read in several places that it could be a sound problem (there is a startup
sound for install.exe), so I disabled sound completely via winecfg. Obviously,
this did not solve the problem.
Wine was installed from the FreeBSD ports collection.

working" patchthat applies to newer wine versions.

Okay, I grabbed the latest CVS snapshot. It doesn't crash when starting now,
however, the main display draws overtop of the menu bar and status bar (which
consequently gives me no way to stop emultion without killing the program and
the frame-rate display flickers like mad).
It still has the other graphical quirks mentioned before.. blocked out text
for some disabled widgets, and some radio buttons are placed wrong.. here's
two screenshots showing the problems (couldn't get them in one shot, sorry):
http://kcat.strangesoft.net/0bad-disabled.pnghttp://kcat.strangesoft.net/0bad-radio.png
I also had no sound and seemed to have no input capabilities, but I'll have
to do a little more testing on those.
As for where to get ROMs, I got them from
<http://members.chello.nl/~c.lieberwirth/n64a.htm>. Some of the links are dead
and its been a while since I've been there, so I don't know how many are still
active (PS: the .ace archive password is *what* it says, not *where* it says).

Assigning the bug to myself. I have a patch that fixes this issue that I need to
re-send (it was sent to wine-patches some time ago and was never committed due
to the lack of test cases).

This seems to be fixed now by one of the richedit patches that went in lately.
Could you please confirm that it runs with current cvs and otherwise reopen this
bug?

There are some pretty good instructions for installing IE 6 in the AppDB
http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?versionId=469
It might help with getting you further with both applications. Once IE is
installed quick tax you might be able to run better. (this would still not be
considered a fix but a workaround)
By the way Franks corner is still around
http://frankscorner.org/
I have no idea how up to date it is.

days. It installs fine here. The program itsself doesn't start right here,
however but that's another bug :). Could you confirm it works with cvs and
otherwise reopen the bug?
