Subject: RE: [Bug 1775] quicktax quik2002 crashes in initquicktaxtype+0x6b8bf
in qt2002.e
Date: Tue, 11 Oct 2005 14:22:32 -0400
Thanks for asking. I have tried wine-20050930 but unfortunately it seems to
be worse. The quiktax application does start up and ask its questions
about activation but then dies with some different failure:
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0009), starting debugger...
Usage: winedbg [--command cmd|--auto] [--gdb [--no-start] [--with-xterm]]
cmdline
Also, I then discovered that another application that worked fine on
20040309 now also fails on 20050930: Internet Explorer 6 It dies with
similar failure as for Quiktax. I had originally installed IE6 following
instructions in "Franks Corner", which has now disappeared (or I can't find
it). I assume there must be some winehq-recommended way to get IE6 working?
And also, before quiktax died, it complained about needing to download
some ActiveX control but being unable to - if you have any advice on that,
that would also be appreciated. Can you please advise me on that and
then I'll try again.
John

First, you can download the demo in clubic site.
It is impossible to have the game in fullscreen. Then, one can not play this
game because, we can not click on Play Game (this, after the presentation of the
teams) .
With cedega, one sees this.
Unfortunately, the game is unplayable.

Hi,
I managed to install the demo of microsoft golf 99.
The installer complains that some file can't be found. But it's not really
important.
But, I can not play.

The web page http://www.winehq.com/site/download-deb tells you the appropriate
lines for sources.list at the bottom (and they do work):
deb http://wine.sourceforge.net/apt/ binary/
deb-src http://wine.sourceforge.net/apt/ source/
The packages are certainly outdated, though.
20050930 is now in Debian unstable, if that's any use to you.

The attached patch (d3d9-check-for-null-rendertarget-os-1.patch) allows the
loading screen to be displayed in windowed mode

I tried the demo... and it works (menus behave erraticaly still).
the demo has an incomplete menu as opossed to the full version, the simulation
part is mostly the same.
so it seems that whatever makes the game to drop the unhandled exeption it is on
the menu part of the game.
I'll try and upload some debug data when i have the time.

Summary: Richedit: copy/save of non-ASCII broken
Product: Wine
Version: 20050830
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-richedit
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: burnus(a)gmx.de
CC: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
If I copy or save the output in a richedit, the Å and the long dash (emdash) are
wrongly exported. They show up as:
ÿffffc5
and
ÿffff97
(In the RTF file as "(in \'ffffffc5 }" and as "\fs18 Ru1\'ffffff97O1}" (should
look like: Ru---O1).)
On the display, everthing is fine.
Tell me, which debug channel you need, if any. In previous versions, it expored
just fine.

It's great that Wine is noticing that a .lnk file were written by
IID_IPersistFile->Save and is creating a Linux compatibe program icon on the
desktop. But why the .lnk file is also appearing on the desktop, which has (in
my opinion) no use.
Only a cosmetic thing
Thanks

I'm a bit surprised, but it looks for me like the socket() function is created
in nonblocking mode by default. I'd looked into the server and dll socket
sources and the servers create_socket() function opens in the socket explicit
in nonblocking mode. I've an application here where four accept() calls will
be done onto the same socket, and I've got a 10035 return for most of them. Am
I wrong that sockets should be opened in blocking mode by default?
Thanks for any help
