Version|20050310 |20050830
------- Additional Comments From lod(a)infaze.com.au 2005-08-10 09:37 -------
Using: Wine 20050830
I tried running the setup command normally, 'wine setup.exe'
It dies with an InstallShield error during the "Configuring windows installer"
stage, 1608: Unable to create InstallDriver instance. Wine produces the
following errors,
err:ole:proxy_manager_create_ifproxy Could not get IPSFactoryBuffer for
interface {00000131-0000-0000-c000-000000000046}, error 0x80040155
err:ole:CoUnmarshalInterface IMarshal::UnmarshalInterface failed, 0x80040155
Running with the frankscorner workaround used in the earlier report causes the
installer to die at the same point. Wine then attempts to launch the debugger
but it doesn't seem to be able to start. The following error is produced after
I ctrl-c the attempt to load the debugger.
err:seh:EXC_DefaultHandling Unhandled exception code c000013a flags 0 addr
0xb7f6f336
I also experimented in setting, WINEDEBUG="warn+all" wine without producing any
extra information. Attempting to use winedbg was unsucessful as it exited in
wine_switch_to_stack before the installshield program started.

I'm reading the msdn docs on MSI, so I can help debug this further.

Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Severity: normal

The attached test program (child.zip), also available at
foghorn:/home/mike/child.zip shows a bug in Wine's user32.
Run the test program in child/Debug/child.exe and press [Tab]. This should tab
onto the radio button and make it default. I've checked that under Windows, and
it works like that, however under Wine, pressing [Tab] will change the radio
button into a Button.

To: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
Subject: Re: [Bug 2737] Poser 4 does not show the labels for controls = font
problem?
Reply-To: wine-devel(a)winehq.org
(Background: Poser 4 installed with wine 2005-02-11. It works, with
exception of font bugs as described.)
I've just tried wine 20050930. When run without modification ['cd
$POSER_DIR; wine Poser.exe'], the program no longer works. I see the
splash screen, and the typical initialization reports, but shortly
after, the window disappears. This is what's left on the command line:
err:module:import_dll Library MSVCIRT.dll (which is needed by
L"C:\\Program Files\\MetaCreations\\Poser
4\\Runtime\\Plugins\\FFMS.arp") not found
err:seh:EXC_DefaultHandling Exception frame is not in stack limits =>
unable to dispatch exception.
If I copy the MSVCIRT.dll from my Win2k system32 directory into the
Poser directory, and run it again (as above), I see the splash screen as
before; and a few more initialization messages than before. But the
window still disappears. I get the following:
wine: Unhandled exception (thread 0023), starting debugger...
(The debugger doesn't start, I just get dumped back to the command line.
The thread number changes each time.)
Running 'winedbg Poser.exe' yields the following. (Note that I still
have MSVCIRT.dll in the program directory. Program behaviour matches the
previous test.)

Hm... further investigation shows that event 0x0018 (WM_SHOWWINDOW) is delegated
down through the DefDlgProc to DefWindowDlgProc, where it is blocked.
First, it returns 0 here:
if (!lParam) return 0; /* sent from ShowWindow */
If that part is commented out, it returns here:
if (wParam)
{
if (!(pWnd->flags & WIN_NEEDS_SHOW_OWNEDPOPUP))
{
WIN_ReleasePtr( pWnd );
return 0;
}
pWnd->flags &= ~WIN_NEEDS_SHOW_OWNEDPOPUP;
}
If I comment that out too, it tries to process event 0x0018 a whole bunch of
times, but it still doesn't work.

I'm not sure about that - I get no messages when I enable shdocvw trace.
Additionally, running with native doesn't seem to make a difference. I think in
my case it crashes before it gets to that point.
Note that I already have Steam installed (with account set up), and this is just
getting it to run, unlike other people which are having trouble getting it to
install, and trouble with the EULA...

Hi,
Downloading d3dx9 from Microsoft requires passing a version check of the OS. I
don't have Microsoft Windows installed - even if downloaded successfully, the
SDK installer will fail, so I am having trouble obtaining that dll to run the
test you suggested.
However, I've done some more testing, and discovered that the crash occurs here:
