Yes, I have the same issue. I can scroll, but when i try to access the menu bar
it crashes it.
Now, reading Comment #10 From Mike McCormack I am having troubles understanding
the PATH of the security.c file (if I correctly understand) is in my local PC
(Gentoo - Linux) So,two questions:
1) Will Mike McCormack attachment solve the issue and allows wdviewer.exe
properly run withouth crash?
2) If so, how to implement it with some references like the actual path to look
for, the actual file name, and how to make/implement the change.
This will be helpful for those less experienced with Linux. :-)

Yes, I can start WORDVIEW, but it crashes when scrolling the document I tested -
and it has some graphical glitches.

I tried it again with 20050524 and received the same error.
If there is some debug trace or something I can post, I'll be happy to
do it.

Created an attachment (id=1125)

Console output.
Installation still fails.
WP Office 12 uses InstallShield for installation.
The program is a 180 MB binary. When you run it it self-extracts into a
separate directory. From there the installer is called which initialises, and
then pops up a pretty screen that claims to be initialising for installation.
Shortly thereafter (about 5 seconds tops) a message is printed below this text
that "The wizard was interrupted before WordPerfect Office 12 could be
completely installed".
The whitespace in the console output above indicates the point where the pretty
screen appears.
This has been tested using the current (7 oct 2005, 13:00 GMT+1) CVS version of
Wine.

I can't reproduce the bug, but it looks like it might have been fixed by
http://winehq.org/pipermail/wine-cvs/2005-September/018237.html
Modified files:
dlls/user : user_main.c
Log message:
Robert Shearman <rob at codeweavers.com>
GetDesktopWindow can now potentially create a thread, so we shouldn't
call this function from DllMain otherwise it is possible to cause a
deadlock.
Can you try again with 20050930?

I didn't know at what point the crash bit started, so I just added a bunch of
lines prior to the winedbg starting. If you need more, I'd be happy to oblige.
I was running as root, and the file I opened and then closed was 'doc1.doc'
from my home directory.

Summary: Word Viewer 2003 crashes when trying to access file menu
after closing a document.
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: wine_bugzilla(a)wirschell.nl
Install Word Viewer 2003 from here: http://www.microsoft.com/office/000/viewers.asp
Click Microsoft Word and you can download the Word Viewer 2003.
When you install it you might run into bug 3318. This bug is harmless for the
end result, but feel free to apply the patch that was posted in that thread. It
doesn't change anything about this bug.
Once the installation program is done there will be a WORDVIEW.EXE on your
system, by default in ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Microsoft Office/OFFICE11
Run this WORDVIEW.EXE program in Wine, and the screen pops up with a File
dialog. Open a document, and then close this document, leaving you an empty
window with the menu bar. Click on the File menu option. At this point Wine
crashes. I'm assuming this has to do with the recent files list, but I'm
guessing, really.
This has been tested using the current (7 oct, 13:00 GMT+1) CVS version of Wine.

In the image, I've drawn 2 arrows. The green arrow points at the field in which
the filename should be entered. It's got some extra controls that shouldn't be
there.
The red arrow points at the button that should bring the dialog one directory
up. The screen refreshes, but the directory isn't changed.
This has been tested using the current (7 oct, 13:00 GMT+1) CVS version of Wine.

When ALSA is chosen for the first time, it works well. After changing the sound

One must delete our /home/.wine to make ALSA works

the program seems to be working better, however you
still cannot see the data when you click on OPTIONS ->
GAME DATA all the data is blank, also the program takes
a while to load all of the data, try running the
application in windows and click on OPTIONS -> GAME
DATA and you will see all the game data, in wine you
cannot see this however the application still knows it
exists because when logging into the MUD server it
will execute commands that are pulled from the data
files
thank you for all the hard work

SHNotifyCopyFileW does not copy files. You probably refering to SHFileOperation
(and msdn links indicate that indeed you are) - changing Summary.
On the contrary to what msdn sais I can't reproduce this behavior with win2k.
Could someone test is program and get +shell trace from it?

forgotten now :(
Its been fixed for ages though, so its pretty safe to close this bug.

Please note that even though the installer says an error occurred, a number of
files did manage to get installed, and running the installed WORDVIEW.EXE binary
does appear to work the way it should.
Only snag I've found was that when you start WordView.exe it will present a file
selection dialog. The button to go up 1 directory in this dialog doesn't work.
