BTW, your app seems to use lots of VB DLLs. If you dare, install DCOM9x [*] and
try to run your app with WINEDLLOVERRIDES='ole32,oleaut32,rpcrt4=n' ,
If no, run app with WINEDEBUG=+process,+tid,+loaddll and attach the log. (don't
compress it as it should be small)
That should help finding what exactly process fails to connect to the DB or so.
(as it seems to me there are quite a few child processes launched from WinAmulancia)

Vitaliy, do you have any simple HowTo under your hand about doing this?

Peto, I am not a lawyer but quoting DCOM95 license gives:
| 1. GRANT OF LICENSE. This EULA grants you the following rights:
|
| * Software License. Microsoft grants you the right to make and use as
| many copies of the SOFTWARE PRODUCT as you have validly licensed copies
| of Microsoft(r) Windows(r) 95.
As Microsoft(r) Windows(r) 95 are unsupported, this OS licenses are about to be
invalid, I guess. Still using Windows 95, 98, 2000 can be legal if you have
valid WinXP license in the case of OEM product. Similar grants are available
for other kinds of distribution of MS OSes. Table of grants should be found
somewhere on microsoft.com, but I already forgot where exactly.
So maybe you can use DCOM95 once (if you have one valid WinXP license) and only
copy some of package DLLs many times after, ah?
At least the you should be able to test whether it helps your software to be run
with Wine.

Hi! I'm on Slackware 10.1 with Wine 0.9.2 (binary for Slackware 10.2).
I also get the following error when starting Mozilla 1.7.12:
fixme:winsock:convert_af_w2u unhandled Windows address family 0
I just want to note that you can actually connect to the internet by entering
an IP address instead.
I tried Wine 0.9.1 (binary for Slackware 10.2) and it does work as reported here.

Well it's a known bug. And "virtual desktop" does things differently here. So it
was just a test to test if it would help or not. So now we know what the problem
is...

You do need online access to use cvs for regression tesing. Optionally you can
download whole git repository and use it instead.

Well for some reason it does not work for Steam. Does anyone actually have a
program that works with "official" Mozalla ActiveX clontrols?

why do you say that the activex control will not work with steam? if i do
'regsvr32 mozctlx.dll' in the mozilla control directory after it has been
installed, then web rendering will be available within steam.

i'm advocating automation. in order for wine to work optimally for the average
user, she shouldn't have to know that a softlink is necessary to make the
activex control work properly. she shouldn't even have to know what an activex
control replacement is. she should just know that running 'wine <windows
application>' installs her application and it works. she shouldn't have to jump
through hoops about should i install this or that; should i click-through this
or that. i mean most users will not know what installing an activex control
really means. so statistically, 50% will say yes, and 50% will say no. hence,
wine will not work as expected for 50% of the users, and they will say this
software isn't useful because all they see is that their software of choice
didn't work.
i'm trying to provide the average user's perspective here. and i think this
issue is too important to discard prematurely, so i am reopening. i'd hope to
see this addressed before 1.0 as people will draw their final conclusions about
wine once it hits 1.0. and it will be hard to sway them back after that.
regards,
mike

Well, yesterday after I created this, I downloaded the CVS files and installed
them. Still the same issue existed.
