This is a showstopper for any recent version of Wine. My experiments with the
April build hits this bug alas, which is a shame as Notes appears to run
noticably faster on recent builds prior to hitting this issue.
I'm happy to build and test any patches which are made available and provide
feedback.
Thanks.

Summary: Simply Accounting 2004 install crash
Product: Wine
Version: 20050310
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-console
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: oliver(a)vision-networks.ca
In attempting to install Simply Accounting 2004, I encountered a critical crash.
I have portions of the install history from WINE. This is actually in version
20050419, not 20050310 as specified in the Version box. There were two portions
that I have. The actual history log was far too long for the buffer to capture
completely. The first is a sumary during the initial steps of the install
shield wizard. It shows the last parts until the error message that shows up in
the message box "An error occured while launching the setup (0x800401fd)". The
other is the final part of the install where it experiences a critical crash
which stops the installation process completely. I am including the last few
lines only, but if necessary can upload the complete histories (about 100 lines
each).

Pasted from email:
Hello Dustin,
sorry for the late!
The software that I'm trying to load is PSPice 6.0, an
old PSpice simulator that run on windows 3.1.
Unfortunately is not a free software and than I cannot
send it to you :( .
I had tried to install it and the operation seems to
be ok, but when I launch the tool it give me the
error!
Can you help me?
Thanks,
Bye,
Luca.
==================
Luca, please post responses to the bug so everyone can see them. Thanks..
You say that it is not free software, is there a trial version that could be
downloaded from somewhere?
Also, What command are you running to run the program? What is the program
supposed to do and if it shows any windows before it crashes, what do the
windows show (if anything)?

I verified that all Cygwin programs crash this same way on a clean Wine
installation on a seperate user's account and on a Wine installation with
Windows stuff on a writable FAT32 partition.

Sorry about my pervious comment. In fact the patch fixing the end joins was not
yet in my tree which is why they still looked wrong. I recompiled today and now
both the end joins and the line thickness look right.
Congratulations, this is fixed!
