Oni users report crashes on Windows systems [1] that seem very similar to one
reported here. Moreover, the original report says that it also crashes on
Windows XP.
Also note that this is on a AMD64 machine running a 64 bit kernel, and Oni is a
32 bit app. So in this case you have to run 32 bit Wine in a 32 bit chroot on a
fully 64 bit environment. This means problems.
Is it even possible to run Oni on AMD64 in Windows?

Alexandre has helped me much:
the source of trouble has been the Fontforge package that I should have
installed before compilation. Since there is no mention about that anywhere near
to user's documentation, I have reported this and others as a documentation bug

Hm, I suspect that even in the documentation/PACKAGING, there is missing a
mention about need for Fontforge! Without this package, some needful fonts are
missing in compiled Wine!
Please, anybody competent, add the mention about Fontforge to the PACKAGING file.

<<< OVERALL COMMENT NOT FOR THIS BUG >>>
Program runs but is useful only for reviewing information
- looks +/- as expected
- fonts (registry says Tahoma) look ragged - spacing between narrow letters is
too small
- program window is full screen width and more than full screen height
- clicking 'restore screen' button for file window gets smaller window that
looks dramatically better then program window can be resized to match but this
configuration is not saved on exit. Window sizes and location should be written
to the registry.

Well, the author of the patch, Alexandre Julliard, says it is probably matter of
fonts -they should take place in /usr/local/share/fonts/wine after make install.
However, they dosen't for me. Now I'm trying to figure out, why.

Yes, they are standard developement packages. I don't need to see them
particularly named in the Guide. I just think they should be _slightly_
emphasized, by some statement of this shape:
"Even many key aspects of program's functionality may depend on properly
installed developement packages. Please, watch the .configure process carefully
if You want to use printer, play sounds or music or do some other advanced
things with Your Windows apps. Please, read the documentation/PACKAGING file in
Your source tree, section DEVELOPEMENT, to learn more about the possibly needed
libraries."
If You like the formulation, please use it freely, modified or not, in the
User's Guide.
Unfortunately, we DID use prebuilt packages (200504 or 200503 distributional),
can't use them any longer however:
1, there are dependency problems in Debian with newer prebuilt packages
2, because of problems with our crucial app, we must be able to use the top
notch version of Wine as soon as the needed patch arrives.

Summary: Conquer Online 2 fails with X error BadMatch on
glXMakeCurrent (in d3d8)
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.5.
Platform: PC
URL: http://www.conqueronline.com/downloads/client.htm
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jan.wine(a)zerebecki.de
It calls glXMakeCurrent with win==0 (and ctx!=NULL) in
dlls/d3d8/directx.c:IDirect3D8Impl_CreateDevice . That fails with "X Error of
failed request: BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)" (correct, at least
according to
http://www.opengl.org/documentation/specs/man_pages/hardcopy/GL/html/glx/xm…
).
So i guess the problem is that GetPropA( whichHWND, "__wine_x11_whole_window" );
(earlier in the same function) returns 0 . But i have no idea what to do now to
find or fix the problem.
The game can be freely downloaded at
http://www.conqueronline.com/downloads/client.htm .
