What would happen if in the other termina window you will run "wine progman" and
then try to install your game again.
Also what would happen if you set windows version to win2k?

Summary: VistaTask can run apps, but two-word menu items confuse
it
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.4.
Platform: Other
URL: http://www.vista-software.com/
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Keywords: download
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-user
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: dank(a)kegel.com
VistaTask is an inexpensive scripting program
(with a free trial) which might be useful for
writing regression tests for windows applications.
It works under Wine better than any similar package
I've tested to date, but it failed to invoke the "Import From"
item in the File menu of an app I'm testing.
To repeat:
Install an app that has a two-word menu item in e.g. the File menu.
Run VistaTask, create a new script that starts
that app and invokes that menu item.
Run that script.
The app will run, and the File menu will come up,
but the two-word menu item won't activate.
The same script on a WinME system does properly
invoke the two-word menu item.

Wine outputs alot of different error and fixme messagas, and often they aren't
relevant to the specific bug you're seeing in the application. itss is related
to html help, not to copy+paste.

Well, if you already know that Wine is doing the wrong thing, and you understand
C well enough to fix it, then we'd appreciate your patch to fix the problem :)
If you have a patch that fixes it, just attach it to this bug. I'm happy to
discuss possible fixes with you here, via mail or on wine-devel(a)winehq.org.

How would I go about getting wine to tell me what resolution it failed to change
to, in complement to the error message which is in parentheses in the title of
this bug? I am utterly unfamiliar with Wine debug practices, including even
basic invocation, but I suspect that there is a better way than editing the
source to add extensive additional variable printing to the relevant ERR() call.

Without knowing much about window manager under Linux (cause I'm coming from
Windows), debugging the source until some point gave me the opinion that the
message box is set exactly at the point Wine calculates for it. But in the
sources I also found no part where a centering for the message box dialog
would be done. So my conclusion was that Wine is missing something here...

No this is the dup of Bug 633. If you look at the comments for
StorageImpl_Commit you will see that it has nothing to do with your problem.
(dlls/ole32/storage23.c:1600)
Wine does not have "internal" clipboard and using X's clipboard instead. And
your problem is related to Wine's inability to copy anything but the raw plain
text into the X's clipboard.

Bug in Comment #4 is due to msvcrt bug [Bug 4128].
Some error messages in Comment #5 should be fixed with this patch:

So I'm still not sure what bug are we fixing? <g>
