Great - bug is invalid because it is a program's bug. It relays on full path
presents & cd into work dir when started via link.

This is likely due to your window manager. Wine sets the position hints, but
many windows managers decide that it's better for them to "autoplace" the
windows. Try looking through the configuration options for your Window manager
and see if you can turn off the autoplacing.
In sawfish, I don Configure->Placement, then set "Method of placing windows" and
"Method of placing dialog windows" both to "None".
I have argued unsuccessfully on wm-spec-list(a)gnome.org that there should be an
_NET_AUTOPLACE hint to allow the window manager to know that it really shouldn't
autoplace, but they said that this feature is present already, but most window
managers ignore it, so adding another hint will be of no use.
If your window manager provides no way to configure this, try a different window
manager.

Hi,
Windows will center ::MessageBox() dialogs on the desktop, when hwnd==DESKTOP,
which is not happening under Wine. They will open somewhere in the upper left
corner. This is also true when using a virtual desktop.
MessageBox(HWND_DESKTOP, text, "I should be centered",
MB_ICONINFORMATION | MB_OK);
Does anyone have an idea why?
Thanks and regards

Saulius, my english is no way better than Yours. So, let's not worry too much.
In communication, it's always just matter of time, when the one being stops
understanding the another being :o) It is completely normal, and if the WILL to
communicate persists and there is enough time, then everything still can be
considered as success. People are created as social, communicative beings by
their nature.
The important thing is, that we still communicate and thus we still can find a
solution. I'm going to try the overrides the way You suggested.
Pleasure to cooperate with You :o)

Thanks, Peto
| First, I don't clearly understand what You have written.
I admit my experience with english language isn't nice, but..
actually I just have asked wheather you can:
1, install DCOM95 (or DCOM98);
2, go one step forward from the second patch which brokes things and compile Wine;
3, run one command line (WINEDLLOVERRIDES='oleaut32=n' wine ...).
This command line does on-the-fly dll-override, and it isn't recorded anywhere
in the registry, so it seems to be usefull for debugging only. If you find this
override (oleaut32 [native only]) makes your app working, you can transfer it
into the registry (via winecfg).
Plus in that case we will know there is something wrong in Wine oleaut32.dll
code. That should be debugged later, using latest wine-cvs version.
| but there is a notion, that winecfg is just too new and it dosen't change
| things so far, only allows to view. I have tried to change some DLL overrides,
| and seemed that settings are remembered, however I'm not sure if they are
| actually working either.
Ok, this happens because of too old wine version. Just use overrides from the
command line for a testing time. When the cvs-version of Wine is compiled, you
can use winecfg to set overrides in a permanent way.
| I will do anything to help fix this bug, but for now things becomes unclear
| for me.
I am quite new at supporting bugfixing, so I am sorry about making the situation
go into this state. :-/

Now I cite the e-mail from Allexandre Julliard, the author again of the second
patch that has broken things.
"This patch is the one that moved the dll overrides keys to the
registry, so it probably breaks things for you because you haven't
configured things in the right place. You have to configure odbccp32
as native in the registry after that patch. Using winecfg is probably
the easiest way to do it."
I did my first (so far just poor) experiments wint DLL overrides. Winecfg is
able to run for a half minute until it crashes, but there is a notion, that
winecfg is just too new and it dosen't change things so far, only allows to
view. I have tried to change some DLL overrides, and seemed that settings are

Hi saulius.
Please, don't take it bad, I recognise Your best efforts to help me.
I have done much for getting issue fixed, but this is getting too cryptic for me.
First, I don't clearly understand what You have written.
Second, I believed that this bug reporting pages are enough space for bugs. I
participate on many projects with some kind of bugzilla, but I was never forced
to join yet_another discussion in order to deal with the bugs. The bugzilla has
usually been enough (openoffice.org, kernel.org, mozilla.org). The only place
where it hasn't been enough is phpgroupware project that is slowly fading away..
So if this is not case in WINE, I think things should consolidate a bit, and
bugs.winehq.org should be place of full authority between users and developers
to manage bugs and their fixing..
I will do anything to help fix this bug, but for now things becomes unclear for me.
I wish You all the best You can bear in the new Year, and inspiration and
blessings in Your work.

seems that bugzilla is case-sensitive.
Next time I'll search for a bugs with wine-msi component.
