Summary: Error under Kubuntu when installing Wine from sources by
launching winecfg : Segmentation error.
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.24.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: blocker
Priority: P2
Component: wine-setupapi
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jeg(a)france-online.org
When installing Wine from sources under Kubuntu 6.10 Edgy Eft, either by
;/tools/wineinstall or by ./configure && make depend && make && make install,
doesn't work : when running winecfg for the first time to build the environment
and configure it, a "segmentation error" ("erreur de segmentation" in my french
enviromnent) appears, without other indications.
All the recommended packages have been successfully installed, and verified vith
./configure --verbose.
No error messages have been seen during the ./configure, make depend and make
commands.
I am under a newly installed Kubuntu Edy Eft, with no major changes made on it.
A screenshot of the error message can be show there :

Summary: WinRar is constantly refreshing its window
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.24.
Platform: PC
URL: http://rarlabs.com/download.htm
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: wine-user
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: t.artem(a)mailcity.com
WinRar is constantly refreshing its window once a second. This misbehavior
doesn't happen at startup, you have to leave or enter any directory at least once.
This bug was introduced around Wine version 0.9.12.
To make winrar run under the latest Wine you have to apply a patch from
http://www.winehq.org/pipermail/wine-patches/2006-October/032150.html (Thank
you, Mark!).

This bug report isn't about "wine crashes my system". It's about erroneous
display. Well, noone is liable to care and everybody of course can focus on
something different which had obviously already been solved - regardless of
who did it.
Keeping this in mind, the direction this discussion took, shows me that I
wasted time. Sorry for bothering you.

> I will simply continue to say "wine crashed my system".
Wine crashes your system because your system has a problem. You should report
the problem as a bug in your distribution. This is not a Wine problem, because
systems should not be crashable by user software.

I'm unable to reproduce this bug as I'm unable to navigate the UI to have the
list non-empty :). Could you apply this patch and attach the results of running
wine with with the 'listview' debug (e.g. after running "WINEDEBUG=+listview
wine winnyp.exe &>output" attach the content of the "output" file)

Your use of LDFLAGS looks problematic. There are packages for ubuntu that work,
use them instead of trying to compile Wine yourself.

My install was with a clean wine on Linux. No Windows native .dlls at all.
This is not a problem for me now.
I will enter a new bug regarding something else I have found (The save/export
feature does not work)

What am I doing wrong with winedbg? Whether I run winecfg directly through
winedbg, or run winedbg from a separate terminal after running winecfg, I can't
get a proper backtrace. All the thread backtraces look like this, with only two
lines:
=>1 0xffffe405 (0x00000001)
2 0x00000000 (0x00000000)
