WINE only crashes after a scenario has been launched and all the data is loaded. Actually, "Control Panel" (control.exe) has (limited) usability (configuration of wine - ODBC, and display for example). What you have to do is copy .cpl files from an existing windows machine (probably from c:\winnt\system32 dir.) to your wine system dir (probably c:\windows\system32) and do a lot of trial and error with native/builtin configuration of control.exe. Some .cpl files make wine crash, e.g. "intl.cpl" (at least, in my case). Normally (in WinXP) there should be tooltips with gray background when using a simulation software from Imagine That Inc. (Available from http://www.imaginethatinc.com/prods_demo.html.) What appears to happen in Wine is that the tooltip (text) is drawn, but then the background (gray color) overwrites the text. If i then start teamspeak and run winecfg, audio tab the alsa tick box is removed. i also recieve these sets of errors.
