UPack use all possible space in MZ and PE headers really hard and rely on some undocumented loader features. Neither the .zip NOR the .exe file of the conformance test works. I also tried both through the "latest-..." and "winetest-200611101000-paul-mingw.exe" and "....zip" links without success. I don't suspect the video drivers themselves, because the latest nvidia driver worked when I tried a few days ago. It could be a compatability issue between AIGLX and nvidia. Have you tried the option : Option "XAANoOffscreenPixmaps" ? But you can also try disabling AIGLX and compiz completely. Make sure you are fully up to date. I am running final release version of ubuntu 6.10. I also built my own version of wine 0.9.25.
