Screenshot of bug in Wine 0.9.19 with latest SL
The bug seems to be partially improved for me in Wine 0.9.19. Pants no longer
descend past the bottoms of my feet (Which occured due to the entire pants
model being visibile, instead of the bottom of it being properly transparent)
So the pants have proper alpha now, but a part of their texture seems to end up
on the feet of the avatar. I've attached a screenshot in which the outer sides
of my avatar's feet have taken on part of the texture of the avatar's pants.
Because of the ever onward and upward march of SL and Wine, I've obsoleted my
old screenshot.

I must admit that if I had not tested this on a slower machine than the
Pentium IV, I would probably not have noticed the difference. On the Celeron
2.8 GHz, the difference is quite clear. And if you consider that this game is
supposed to run fine on a 300-500 MHz computer . . .
The following results are from the Celeron.
In Wine 0.9.19, Settlers IV consumes around 65% of the CPU when I let it alone
with the console window on top of it. If I start scrolling around, this usage
increases to around 96%. X and wineserver use almost nothing (they are not on
the list most of the time; the most I could see X using was 0.3%.
In Wine 0.9.15, Settlers IV also consumes around 65%, but this usage does NOT
increase if I scroll the map, which sort of explains why the game is slower
when scrolling between the old and new code.
In 0.9.15, if I mouse the mouse, X usage goes from 22% to around 15%, and
wineserver usage goes up from around nothing to 1.3%.
Still, scrolling in 0.9.16+ is much slower than in 0.9.15-.

It's running fine in windowed mode with the registry settings, but still black

even started the map editor out of Starcraft.

Hi again.
wine 0.9.19, problem still existing. But I'll try to give some hints for
creating a workaround, or something similar. configure checks /usr/bin/artsc-
config for existance. If this file exists, configure assumes that arts is
configured and running. But on Debian GNU/Linux (and probably other Distros), /
usr/bin/artsc-config is shipped with the package libartsc0-dev, which neither
includes arts itself, nor depends on it (see http://choerbaert.org/scy/pics/
depend_graph_libartsc0-dev.png). Deleting/moving this file solves the winecfg
crash.
I am not the only one with this problem. On IRC I recognized several people
with the same issues. After I told them to execute "touch /tmp/ksocket-$USER",
winecfg didn't crash any more (until next reboot, of course). Thus I think it
is also in your interest to fix this problem.

Summary: explorer.exe consumes almost all of CPU when running
Tribes 1 in fullscreen mode
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.18.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-programs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: smustudent1(a)yahoo.com
When running the free download version of Starsiege Tribes (the original) in
fullscreen mode (1600x1200 LCD monitor) explorer.exe seems to consume almost all
available resources - the program is unresponsive if started in fullscreen mode,
and when it is started in smaller size (which does work) and switched to
fullscreen, the mouse is almost completely unresponsive - it takes many seconds
to process a movement. When explorer.exe is killed from a non-graphical
terminal after Tribes is started (Ctrl-Alt-F1), Tribes then proceeds to run
normally. Tribes can be successfully run in non-fullscreen without killing
explorer.exe, although it is not clear if this is due to the less resource
intensive nature of the drawing need for the smaller screen or a different
explorer.exe behavior in non-fullscreen interaction.
This is true in both 0.9.18 and 0.9.19. In 0.9.19 the following error messages
are observed on the console when running Tribes - no idea if they have any
relevance to this problem:
fixme:keyboard:X11DRV_GetKeyNameText (00000000,0x33cc78,256): unsupported key,
vkey=0000, ansi=0000 (this one appears quite often)
These two only seem to appear once:
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_GetAvailableTextureMem (0x169b98) : stub,
simulating 64MB for now, returning 64MB left
fixme:win:WIN_CreateWindowEx Parent is HWND_MESSAGE
fixme:dsound:DSOUND_MixOne problem with underrun detection (mixlen=1568 <
primary_done=58288) (this one also is quite common)
There is a longer error message on exit which I will post as an attachment.

The patch works with wine 0.9.19 and Lotus Notes. But it causes oops
with using ie4linux and native dlls. I think it is because of the NULL pointer
in SetDIBits. The Lotus Notes problem has to be somewere else, or there is a
problem with ie4linux. When i run wine without the patch, ie6 starts. So, I
reason the patch can't be ok.

I can confirm this bug. Resizing the tool windows makes Photoshop crash. When
it crashes, it seems to go into an infinite loop and 'locks' keyboard and mouse
so I have to reboot.
However, if I click on an tab in the tool window before I try to resize it,
everything works as expected.
By the way, it's quite annoying that the tool windows aren't managed by the
window manager. When you minimize Photoshop or switch to another Desktop (e.g.
in KDE), the palettes stay around and float above all windows. Maybe they could
be given a default "borderless" style?

Summary: Application gets crashed when I press enter in combobox

When list box of combo box is expanded, no crash occurs when I press enter. When
list box of combo box isnÂ’t expanded and cursor is present in combo box and I
press enter, Application crashes.
I tried to debug the wine code and could find the place from where crash
occurred. It is coming from /home/ravinder/winecode/wine-0.9.16/dlls/user/edit.c
case WM_GETDLGCODE:
result = DLGC_HASSETSEL | DLGC_WANTCHARS | DLGC_WANTARROWS;
if (es->style & ES_MULTILINE)
{
result |= DLGC_WANTALLKEYS;
break;
}
if (lParam && (((LPMSG)lParam)->message == WM_KEYDOWN))
{
int vk = (int)((LPMSG)lParam)->wParam;
if (es->hwndListBox && (vk == VK_RETURN || vk == VK_ESCAPE))
{
if (SendMessageW(GetParent(hwnd), CB_GETDROPPEDSTATE, 0, 0))
++ {
++ MessageBoxA(NULL,”INSIDE IF LOOP”, “EDIT”, MB_OK);
result |= DLGC_WANTMESSAGE;
++ }
++ else
++ {
++ //Some Code is missing to handle this situation when list box of combo box
isnÂ’t expanded.
++ }
}
break;
I tried sending different messages from this place like WM_KILLFOCUS but crash
inst being avoided. In one case crash stops when I remove the
if (SendMessageW(GetParent(hwnd), CB_GETDROPPEDSTATE, 0, 0))
and put directly
result |= DLGC_WANTMESSAGE; under
if (es->hwndListBox && (vk == VK_RETURN || vk == VK_ESCAPE))
But in this case focus isnÂ’t lost.
I made a test case but I wasnÂ’t able to simulate the issue in test case. I have
attached the screenshot of the issue and log generated with channel as edit and
combo.

ReportedBy: stefan.siebert(a)web.de
Hello,
several InvalidateRect(NULL,NULL,true) calls end in a messed X11 Desktop Window.
The explorer desktop is suddenly painted with the default black brush.
The best way to reproduce this:
for (int i=0;i<1000;i++)
InvalidateRect(NULL,NULL, true);
Sometimes it shows the wine desktop after 10 loops and sometimes not even after
1000 loops. The problem is, that the explorer desktop (from time to time)
receives a WM_ERASEBKGRND and than triggers it's internal paint routine.
Program to reproduce: Notes Client opening the Administrator Client or the
mentioned InvalidateRect loop

This isn't a wine bug. The intro movies run fine in wine. The only problem I've
discovered with this game so far is the mouse sticks in the center of the screen
on the game after the movies have finished and you cant play because of it.
Most likely you don't have something configured right on your machine in linux.
