Hello !
I have a little problem with an old program (as far as I know, it is a win16 app).
The Background color is overlaying the items (listbox ?) and I cannot see the
elements right (attachment) and I get this error message, when I click on the
elements:
fixme:edit:EditWndProc_common undocumented message 0x40f, please report
Is it possible, to get this app working ?
The app uses the following DLLs (tried native also):
bwcc.dll (tried Version 1.02 and 2.xx)
ctl3d.dll (tried native and buildin, Version: 1.13
Thank you very much for your help !
Heiko

The program WinAmbulancia (see AppDB) waits during every login for user to
change or confirm the actual date. Under Wine:
1, the date displayed is corrupted (in normal, actual system date is offered)
2, even if I fill in the correct date and try to submit, the PC beeps and don't
proceed. Only "Storno" (cancel) works
If native W98's oleaut32 is used, it works correctly.

Screenshot of bug with latest SL and Wine (8-2-2006)
I've attached a screenshot showing that the bug still exists with Wine 0.9.18
and the latest Second Life (1.11.2(4), contrary to the report from
BirdbrainedPhoenix(a)gmail.com .
Wine version is 9.18~winehq0~ubuntu~6.06-1
I reinstalled SL as directed in the previous message and rebaked textures with
the Debug menu. Several new items show the bug both before and after rebake.
In short: it's still an issue.

I looked at the gentoo bored, and what you said, and find nothing in common or
to indicate an actual problem. Happens on both 32 and 64-bit systems. Also you
say it occurs in windows too. Please don't open a bug for a general problem;
report when you have something conclusive, like an actual crash. Also please
know that custom maps can cause lag spikes because of heavy trigger firing
(really poor map design).

i've this error since i switched to my amd64 platform. i've yet to see this
error on any other of my machines. i also get smiliar disconnects on windows xp
(32bit), but rarely. it does not disconnect me from b.net, only from the game,
after a 2-3s lag spike. same problem with cedega. i've tried different network
cards, different graphic cards, different harddrives and also different
distributions. it's always the same. on some random time within a custom game
(most of the defense of the ancients), the lag spike appears and i'm
disconnected from the game. i'm not entirely sure what to blabe, since i've had
similar disconnects in windows (but FAR less). i'm not having troubles on my
other machine (in the same network), but it's not an amd64. my laptop is a
turion and i also don't have this problems. i'd tend to think it's a pure
hardware problem, but i've (found at least 2 other people with similar problems
(in cedega), one example:

setup.exe is calling LookupAccountName like so:
LookupAccountNameW (null) (null) (nil) 0x33fc38 (nil) (nil) (nil)
which crashes and the app catches the crash, exiting silently. Tests on XP show
that we should crash in this case. At the very least, LoockupAccountName needs
cbSid and cchReferencedDomainName. If you run the setup in XP, it does the
exact same thing as in Wine. Marking invalid.

My guess is that this is related to the Radeon x300 & x800 cards. Radeon 8550,
9000, 9550, etc users have not reported these problems. So maybe its specific to
the Radeon Xxxx series cards, however I could be completely wrong.
You could confirm by buying a $30 ATI 9550 or higher which is known to work
fine, if your desperate to get the game running.
In the meantime you could try disabling all the shader effects in config.wtf
prior to running the game to see if that works.
Maybe wine can be patched to overcome this problem on these particular cards

I'm relatively sure that the bug exposed by the ws2_32 sock test ("Test failed:

when the timeout occurs, that is why war3 doesn't notice the timeout on wine.

Then it would be a feature of the game. If it doesn't grab mouse in the window

I have the same problem. Here are my details:
Linux Distribution = Ubuntu 6.06
Wine Version = 0.9.18
Graphics Card = ATI Radeon Mobility X300
ATI Driver = 8.27.10
CPU = Pentium M 2.00Ghz
I have also tested with:
* ATI driver 8.26.18 -- same problem.
* Wine 0.9.17 -- same problem.
Have also reinstalled WoW, which didn't help. Have also installed a fresh Ubuntu
on a spare partition and that didn't help either.

I think I've found a way to solve the problem.
I have the french version so I am not sure the following names are those used in
the US version.
If you want to use unicode with dreamweaver :
- go to Settings->New Document and select UTF-8 as default codepage
- go to Settings->Fonts : be sure that fonts parameters are set to Unicode and
(the most important) DON'T use dynamic font mapping.
Now test and report if you still have this bug.

Ok, so the general concensus is that 0.9.18 fixes this problem, although it doesn't Work For Me (tm). Can someone more experienced please advise on how I can narrow the problem down in my situation, and possibly shed light on the underlying issue?
I appreciate all advice given. Thank you.

As per the title, this makes the game very hard if not impossible to use due to
it being very hard to sidescroll as the game doesn't lock the mouse to its
window so the mouse keeps leaving the game window all the time and you end up
clicking things on your desktop.

Severity: major
Priority: P3
Component: wine-ole
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: tuharsky(a)misbb.sk
The program Import2000.exe is used to import database from old DOS version of
the program WinAmbulancia (see AppDB). Technically, it converts DBF to MDB.
Program starts and seems working, however after some hour of work, it stops with
error.
Even under Windows, the import of 60MB database takes 40 minutes, so something
over an hour under Wine seems alright.
Since without the database converted there is not much to do with the main
program (WinAmbulancia), I mark it as major.
Error might be connected to ole or imm.

Well, you could try the strace method described above:
$ WINEDEBUG=+all strace ./wine notepad &> strace_wine.txt
$ cat strace_wine.txt | grep -v ^[^a-z] | grep -C10 /hda[^0-9] &> hda.txt
"hda" string in the 2nd command is a name for the disk which MBR gets corrupt.
Of course, the 2nd command may need more tuning, but I'd give it a try. Attach
resulting hda.txt file (or compress it before, if it gets large).

Fixed by downloading the latest version of QuickTime standalone from Apple's

it. I'm unsure why iTunes doesn't read QT6 correctly, but it reads QT7 just fine.

You know that. You use app that depends on the latest patches in Wine, so that
You cannot use old distributional packaged Wine. You must compile it Yourself
from the very fresh source.
Although the very compilation is quite flawless and well documented, I still
lack a full list of libraries needed.
Many problems I have reported have been solved by simple installing a library
before compilation. The .configure log isn't very clear about what he is "just
murbling himself" and what is a "real complaint".
Please, could somebody create FULL list of libraries that some part of Wine
depends on?
Could somebody put this list directly to the Wine Users Guide, chapter regarding
the compilation process?
So far, I have identified these packages (Debian): fontforge, libfreetype-dev,
xlibs-dev, libcupsys2-dev, libttf-dev, libungif4-dev
Please, pretty please, make the full list and publish it bravely in User's
Guide. I will be the first one who will read it and add the apt-get install
command to my custom compilation scripts.

Procedure was as follows:
`rm -fdr ~/.wine`
`wine msiexec.exe /i "z:\home\dyssident\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Adobe Photoshop
CS2.msi" /L*v c:\cs2.msi.log > ~/cs2.wine.log 2>&1`
Clicked No to "The application is requesting an ActiveX browser object but the
Mozilla Active X controll is not installed. Do you wish to install it?"
After clicking Install button, installer quickly jumps to "InstallShield Wizard
Completed. The wizard was interrupted before Adobe Photoshop CS2 could be
completely installed."
Following directories are created but empty:
.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Adobe
.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Common Files
