------- Additional Comments From mike(a)codeweavers.com 2006-24-08 22:26 -------
For the PSE installer, we set the "SourceDir" property:
trace:msi:MSI_SetPropertyW 0x5a0034 L"SourceDir" L"Z:\\home\\mike\\msi\\Adobe
Photoshop Elements\\"
Some time later, it checks the "SOURCEDIR" property in order to build a path for
the Abcpy.ini, and finds it empty,
trace:msi:MSI_GetProperty 1 L"SOURCEDIR" 0x7e240f50 0x7e240b28
So either both the upper case and mixed case properties are set, or this
property is case insensitive.
We need a test to determine if some or all properties are case insensitive...

Summary: text display gets a white screen
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.17.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: cnbiz850(a)sohu.com
Since 0.9.17 through 0.9.20, this bug appeared. 0.9.16 is fine.
It can basically be described as follows:
The application is sort of a text browser where you can click on a title text
and it displays the full document (in Chinese in my findings). Since 0.9.17,
the full document becomes just the white background in stead of the normal way
with white background and black text. It doesn't appear to be a foreground
color issue as I drag the mouse in the text area where it is supposed to get a
blue-backgrounded selection area, and it doesn't. The title area is OK (the
difference in appearance is that the title area is black background and white text).
I am using Ubuntu 6.06.

I have now installed Suse 10.1 from a magazine cover DVD, onto my spare machine.
I then installed wine-0.9.19-SuSELinux101.i586.rpm from the wine download page,
and ran 'wine agentenu400-1071.exe' to install Agent.
The install went fine, Agent ran fine.
I could not run the equivalent fresh install on the FreeBSD box, it would not
run (it sat there using up CPU, but making no visable progress). But an upgrade
install over a previous version 3.30 install did work (but gave the coredump
problems that initially triggered this bug report)

Summary: The 16 bit file open and save dialog use the filter data

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: minor

With a simple delphi 1 program if you set the property of the filename then both
the filter and filename get the same string.
Setting the filename on filesave dialog to "suggest.txt" and filter to *.txt
shows *.txt under wine in both the filter and filename edit box. Under win 95
then name has suggest.txt and filter edit has *.txt.
Is it possible to add to the wine tests any 16bit program? If anybody want to
look at it I can post traces and or delphi source and exe to a URL.

The installer aborts early on in copying files, saying it was interrupted.
WINEDEBUG=+msi,+process wine-git/wine installers/Dreamweaver8-en.exe
shows it tried to run
msiexec.exe /qn /x{5546CDB5-2CE2-498B-B059-5B3BF81FC41F}
but msiexec just printed a usage message and exited;
the very last line in the log is
trace:msi:ACTION_FinishCustomActions Waiting on action L"ISMsiServerStartup"
I think that's unrelated to the failure dialog.
The error happens also if you run with WINEDEBUG=+msi,+process,
but if you run with WINEDEBUG=+msi,+process,+typelib,+ole,+msidb,
the installer says it completes properly!
It still has that
trace:msi:ACTION_FinishCustomActions Waiting on action L"ISMsiServerStartup"
line at the end of the log.
Looks like a dup of bug 5028, which is a dup of bug 5018,
but I'm filing it anyway 'cause it's probably good to
have a bug that explicitly mentions Dreamweaver 8 in the summary.
If the install completes, and you try to run the app,
it crashes on startup with a not very illuminating stack trace.

Reopening bug for (Turbocad LE only). Will submit separate bug for Turbocad
3D.
I am using wine 0.9.15; it is currently the newest Debian package. I will
update when 0.9.19 gets into Debian unstable.
Self-extracting exe now works OK, unable to determine why there were earlier
problems.
So at this point using builtin mscvrt.dll causes problems with dimensioning
and with being unable to edit any properties or settings. These problems are
sufficient to make the program inoperable.
I have discovered some regression history on this. Turbocad LE would work
properly with wine 20040121. After this bugs started. with 20040615 turbocad
would not display the drawing page. This error seems to have continued until
0.9.3 then the current problem began. I seem to remember some other errors as
well, I have checked my notes but they are pretty sketchy. Regressive testing
was also pretty spotty, I have only some old knoppix disks to get older
versions of wine.
Hope this helps.

Photoshop Elements 4 trial is delivered as a zip file,

Running the Setup.exe prompts you for a serial number.
The serial number to use is given in the file Abcpy.ini next

SERIALNUMBERTRYOUT=1057-1044-5671-2189-1140-6013
Presumably the user shouldn't have to grovel through
the files that come with the installer to figure this out.

The following entries in the string table mean a string of (2<<16) + 0 in
length, with 1 reference.
Offset even odd
4822 0 1
4823 0 2
We were previously incorrectly interpreting the second "0 2" as the start of
another long string.
Summary of the msi string table format as understood so far:
"n R" -> a string of n bytes (where n < 2^16) with R references
"0 0" -> a hole in the string table (zero length, zero references)
"0 R n m" -> a (long) string of m*65536+n bytes with R references.

Sorry, problems occur. I tested with CVS from this this night, XEMBED is
included, but the first application I tried (http://www.emtec.com/macrophone)
run into problems. It looks like there will be arranged some space in the
taskbar for the icon, but then the space will be removed again and the
debugger starts for this thread in the command line.
>From the above link you can easily try this. Get the MacroPhone client and
start it. It will not found any server, but the application window and the
taskbar should occur.
What could I do to help you fixing this? MacroPhone is our application, so
source code is available
Regards
Markus

1) I was unable to install the client intially running "wine ./setup.exe". It
spewed tons of errors and crashes. So I ran this command, "msiexec Lotus\
Notes\ 6.5.3.msi".
This shouldn't happen with 0.919, but I will have a look into it. Setup.exe
doesn't do much more than to start the msi package.
2) Everything seem to install and then I re-ran notes with this command, "wine
~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/lotus/notes/nlnotes.ex3" and installed my Domino
setting and id files. It seems to able to connect to the Domino server and I
was able to download my emails.
In the notes.ini you will find a line that looks something like this:
Ports=TCPIP,LAN0,COM3
Change it to
Ports=TCPIP

With current git some sound plays and the virtual desktop window is never
updated (it's not black but is never drawn to) (this is a full screen app). The
app has three threads none of them realy "hangs" all do various sound related

That patch might not be the cause for this problem as window and ddraw stuff
were rewritten.

Summary: Lotus notes 6.5.3-Wine 0.9.19. Notes freezes when
attempting to connect to Domino server.
Product: WineHQ Apps Database

My lotus notes 6.5.3 client freezes when it attemptes to connect to a Domino
server. I get these error messages while the client is running.
fixme:uniscribe:ScriptApplyDigitSubstitution 0x61be5a68,0x34f0d4,0x34f0d2
err:win:DefWindowProcA called for other process window 0x10020
The strange thing is that when I first install the client I was able to connect
to the Domino server with no problem at all.
I don't know if this helps but this my install client procedure.
1) I was unable to install the client intially running "wine ./setup.exe". It
spewed tons of errors and crashes. So I ran this command, "msiexec Lotus\
Notes\ 6.5.3.msi".
2) Everything seem to install and then I re-ran notes with this command, "wine
~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/lotus/notes/nlnotes.ex3" and installed my Domino
setting and id files. It seems to able to connect to the Domino server and I
was able to download my emails.
3) Shutdown notes and then I re-ran it and then everthing seems to freeze.
In my winecfg, I didn't touch anything. Is there anything I can try to get more
debug information. Thanks!

AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: xerox_xerox2000(a)yahoo.co.uk
Hi, this funny little game was reported on the wine users list. It's very small
but it reveals quite a lot of bugs in wine. This is one of them. After starting
it, it first throws up a messagebox it can't open ole32.dll. A simple 'touch
~/.wine/drive_c/windows/system32/ole32.dll' is enough to fool the app around
this. However, after that it throws up a messagebox it can't open oleaut32.dll,
and after creating a fake oleaut32, it throws up a message "Bad module
c:\windows\system32\oleaut32.dll" . Copying a real native oleaut32.dll to
system32 gets you around this bug.
If i run with +relay,+seh the message in the message box changes. It's quite a
lot of text so i'll attach a screenshot.
(After this it runs into the same "Bad module" bug with urlmon.dll and winspool.drv)

I am not a X developer, and neither do I know the code to the nvidia driver. It
is my expectation however, if the video hardware supports 640x480 it should
report it. So it's either a regression with the nvidia driver or he has another
xorg setting wrong. That is the only thing changed right?
As reported, that old function was there. Maybe he removed the dll now? Won't
affect the resolution of the bug because it is based on that. But of course it
would be good to know why he is still having trouble to help people elsewhere.

Jesse,
| then it's still not a wine bug.
of course it isn't and I did agree earlier :)
| I've had people complain to me of a crash before with not having 640x480 for
| D2 and the answer is to add it back to your xorg.conf.
Yes, but on the offtopic side: can you explain me what driver behaviour is
correct, old or new? I'd read some docs, but they need to be searched. Maybe
you know for sure?
| PS: gdi32.dll.DIB_CreateDIBSection shows up in the log. That's is 100%
| incorrect so he has an old version. (seen at "C:\Diablo\ddraw.dll")
If this was a case during initial Diablo run, we'd never see any dialog box.
IMNSHO gdi32.dll.DIB_CreateDIBSection message arrived only after an unsuccessful
first try.
PS: as seen on Ubuntuforums, the reporter seems to have no permanent inet
connection, so I will wait a bit longer. I just want to know exact cause of the
problem and write it down here, so other users know what's happening if stuck
with similar case. This doesn't hurt the INVALID bug, right?

If it's caused by nvidia driver not reporting the needed screen resolution, then
it's still not a wine bug. I've had people complain to me of a crash before with
not having 640x480 for D2 and the answer is to add it back to your xorg.conf.

Vijay, something changed before that patch went in
that hides the original problem, I think,
so I can't tell whether James' patch helps.
I'm going to change the description to be less specific,
and treat this as a "app doesn't install" bug,
which is still true, and mark it as depending on bug 5358.
