Summary: text display gets a white screen
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.17.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: cnbiz850(a)sohu.com
Since 0.9.17 through 0.9.20, this bug appeared. 0.9.16 is fine.
It can basically be described as follows:
The application is sort of a text browser where you can click on a title text
and it displays the full document (in Chinese in my findings). Since 0.9.17,
the full document becomes just the white background in stead of the normal way
with white background and black text. It doesn't appear to be a foreground
color issue as I drag the mouse in the text area where it is supposed to get a
blue-backgrounded selection area, and it doesn't. The title area is OK (the
difference in appearance is that the title area is black background and white text).
I am using Ubuntu 6.06.

console log
I'm seeing this on wine .9.20, never had this problem before (last wine version
source worked on was .9.19 for me, upgraded to .9.20 and now it doesn't work).
Screen changes to 640x480 mode, then the intro screen becomes legoland (lots of
blocks). Then it stops and goes back to the desktop, still in 640x480 mode.

after removing ~/.wine, and adding oleaut32 to fake dlls in wine.inf this bug
was gone. Looks like you cannot really do a simple 'touch system32/oleaut32.dll'
but you'd have to create a new .wine again. i sent patch to wine-patches for
that (with some other fake dlls).

I have now installed Suse 10.1 from a magazine cover DVD, onto my spare machine.
I then installed wine-0.9.19-SuSELinux101.i586.rpm from the wine download page,
and ran 'wine agentenu400-1071.exe' to install Agent.
The install went fine, Agent ran fine.
I could not run the equivalent fresh install on the FreeBSD box, it would not
run (it sat there using up CPU, but making no visable progress). But an upgrade
install over a previous version 3.30 install did work (but gave the coredump
problems that initially triggered this bug report)

post the current output as it's another area of the dwarf parser which is affected

well, it does at least show that in that case, we don't find the mapping from
the loaded ELF module to the fake PE module (or the other way around)
I'd like to get a +dbghelp trace for this one
