Comparing the ppd files of the generic postscript printer that Detlef suggested and the one from my lexmark (and some others) revealed, that the PaperDimension, PageRegion, PageSize and ImageableArea differs. If I edit the ppd File and set the those options to the values of the generic ps pdf printer my lexmark prints nearly perfectly for papersize A4 :-))) The most important option is ImageableArea to move the origin into the printeable area: set *ImageableArea A4/A4: "0 0 595 842" (original lexmark.ppd) to *ImageableArea A4/A4: "18 36 595 842" I think, that my other applications (that print correctly) use custom margins that override the settings in the ppd. Looks like this is no bug in Wine, but a problem with the ppd files. What still remains are wrong printouts with papersizes larger than A2. It can be obtained free of charge from http://herbaria.plants.ox.ac.uk/BOL/home/default.aspx (registration necessary). Installation is by unzipping the program folder to .wine/drive_c (or another "hard disk" root directory, C:, Z:, whatever). A license file from the above site has to be copied to the program folder. First login on program start can be done with password "a". The following sequence of commands leads to a crash (log file with WINEDEBUG=all+warn appended as attachment; for testing, a new .wine directory was created calling winecfg once): 1) After login choose "NO - I am a new user" 2) "Collections" menu -> "Add/Edit collections using Rapid Data Entry Fields" A dialog appears asking for mscomctl.ocx -> "Cancel" 3) "File" menu -> "Create blank data file" -> "Create a file that includes all standard RDE fields"; choose file name 4) File name appears in table -> double click file name A dialog appears asking for mscomctl.ocx -> "Cancel" -> Crash, log terminating with "X Error of failed request: BadPixmap (invalid Pixmap parameter)" When copying the file mscomctl.ocx from the Brahms5 website to .wine/drive_c/windos/system32, the respective dialogs will not appear. The RDE file opens but shows a control (like a white, empty listbox) in the middle of the screen (should this be reported as a separate bug?). Run the executable, it will download the actual app and install it, this part works fine. 3. When the installation finishes, getright will run automatically. The system tray icon will appear and work correctly, but there will also be an annoying 1x1 pixel window simply titled "Wine." Besides, unlucky for me, Knoppix is a highly experimental (and unstable) system, so not everything works as I would expect. And that's why I'm reverting back to a proven solution - WinXP, which is the only OS that works properly on this laptop.
