The thing is, my card is an ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 and I'm using the Mesa driver. I had installed Filemaker Pro 6 on two Debian Linux machines running 2.6. When I tried to install on a 2.4 machine the installer never got to the first screen, even though I tried multiple times. It would start a whole batch of wine-prepare processes, they would go to sleep and never return.
