that package should be filed.

Incorrectly rendered menu
Hi,
In latest wine 0.9.52 there is a regression in Commandos 3 affecting rendering
of menu and fonts in the game. I did a regression test and found this commit
with git bisect:
[f3df6cf42b4e705b5e687df08b9f8c3ff8b2d41c] wined3d: Only store the palette
index
Attached is screenshot of the menu.

Summary: Saitek P990 crashes MVP Baseball 2005
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.51.
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-dinput
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: j.craig(a)aggiemail.usu.edu
I initially installed MVP Baseball 2005 with nary a hitch. I found information
on the //HKCU//Software//Wine//DirectInput registry key which enabled me to use
my Logitech Dual Action with the game. However, my dual action has died, so
now I have a Saitek P990. Setting up the Saitek P990 in the aforementioned
registry key causes the game to crash on startup about 90% of the times I try
to run it. Interestingly, approximately 10% of the time it runs fine, just
like it did with the Logitech Dual Action.

Summary: Protel for windows older demo version stopped loading -
regression
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.43.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc

ReportedBy: brodo(a)o2.pl
Hello,
Today I built, as usual, a fresh compiled version of wine on my linux Ibm T23
machine equipped with latest slackware 12.
I always used old Protel for windows demo version for some checking purposes.
Via wine of course.
But as of 0.9.43 version it could not start at all.
I am attaching a log from a terminal and a program itself in an arj package.
Regards,
Olek Ansion

Summary: Regression: Old 16-bit programs WON'T work!
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.43.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: critical
Priority: P1
Component: wine-binary
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: amrhi(a)safe-mail.net
After many successful previous Wine upgrades, I upgraded from Version 0.9.42 to
the new Version 0.9.43, only to discover that NONE of my old Windows 3.1 games
will start up -- NONE of them. I NEVER had that problem with any earlier
version. I then uninstalled and re-installed with a different (but still
compatible) .rpm release -- no difference whatsoever. And yes, ALL of my 32-bit
programs worked just fine. As a result, I UNINSTALLED Version 0.9.43 and
re-installed Version 0.9.42 (I simply cannot adequately replace those great old
Windows 3.1 games).
So PLEASE fix this -- DON'T be like some developers lately who just don't seem
to care at all about any of the older stuff. Thank you.
P.S. In addition, "winecfg" was nothing but a 0-bit empty file -- it wouldn't
even run. Is that PROGRESS?

After getting to the load screen it crashes with an error "This game requires
directx 8 to run properly" I've gone into CS:S and it showed it starting with
dx6 but I force it to 8.1 and everything was fine. However even trying to force
TF2 to 8.1 did not work. Switching to a previous version of wine just causes
TF2 to crash.

Summary: Wine prefers Marlett instead of a legible font
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.52.
Platform: PC
URL: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=458234
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-gui
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ovek(a)arcticnet.no
Currently, Debian discourages installing non-free stuff such as the Microsoft
core fonts. Debian policy forbids me from recommending it. (They also consider
the Liberation fonts undistributable.) Hence, you have to expect Wine users
from Debian to not have fonts like Arial available. The problem is that, if an
application asks for such a nonexistent fonts (very common), Wine frequently
chooses Marlett, which is fairly illegible. It'd be much more user-friendly if
it chose Tahoma or something.
I have a bug report that suggests that whether Wine chooses Marlett or not
depends on the fontforge version that Marlett.ttf is generated with (the
fontforge in Debian Stable (etch) works, but the one in Debian Testing/Unstable
does not), but I don't have much time to investigate why. Perhaps someone at
Wine knows. Is it something that should be fixed in the marlett.sfd file, or
should the bug be reassigned to fontforge?
