Looks like another Wine/BSD incompatibility.
Can you try to run the Wine tests as requested in the bug 3551 and see how it
goes?

CLI error
After addind dlls suggested above this is the error I get now, with an empty
desktop window. I tried to change it so it to 'let windows manager' handle the
windows in winecfg but that seems to have no effect.
I also tried copying a working install from windows and running, it complained
about not having mfc42.dll and msvcp60.dll which I copied, but all I get from
that is a desktop with some taxcut generated error about FileReaderImpl().

Still happening on wine-0.9.33.
It doesn't seem to be a COM error,
as installing dcom98 doesn't get rid of the error.
And yet the error comes from COM, so it must be bad input somewhere.
Here's a bit of the log:

The error is thrown shortly thereafter. I bet it's a problem

Summary: Stuck mouse cursor in No Man's Land

Somewhere between Wine 0.9.28 and 0.9.29, the mouse cursor in No Man's Land
stopped working. It just sits in the upper left corner, and does not move at
all.
Note that you have to disable hardware cursors as per the AppDB how-to in
order for the mouse to show up at all (that part is not a regression).

Ok. Try running with WINEDEBUG=+dsound wine gw.exe &> dsoundtrace.log
Play the game for a bit (you dont have to go all the way to the point where the
game locks up), and then close the game. If the resulting log is huge, try
bzip'ping it to get it down in size some. Attach the log (bzipped or not) here.

Unfortunately, neither the above tests resolved the sound stuttering problem.
Additional information.
When the stuttering occurs, it sounds like the normal variety. Sound drops out
occasionally, then catches up. After a while, the stuttering increases to the
point where is sounds like a loop (like a skipping cd).
Closing the application at this time will result in a lockup. Killing Gw.exe in
another terminal gives the following (Attached) error:

So then I did like everyone suggested and set WINEPREFIX to where I want my wine

So I did what isnt recommended and made a symlink from .wine/drive_c to where I
want the wine c drive to be and it still worked. I have no clue why it didnt
work before and I dont care as long as it is working now..

Hello,
--- snip ---
It seems this is the official MS way to get msvcr80.dll:
http://www.sweetpotatosoftware.com/files/vcredist_x86.zip
but this seems to fail to install in wine with:
wine vcredist_x86.exe
fixme:advapi:DecryptFileA "C:\\windows\\temp\\IXP001.TMP\\" 00000000
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x80002b8c at address 0x701069b2
(thread 003f), starting debugger...
--- snip ---
Doesnt crash this way here (wine 0.9.33 current).
Instead it bumps later on:
--- snip ---
Call from 0x7b8405f0 to unimplemented function msi.dll.MsiEnumProductsExA, aborting
0012:trace:seh:call_stack_handlers calling handler at 0x7bc2f490 code=80000100
flags=1
wine: Unimplemented function msi.dll.MsiEnumProductsExA called at address
0x7b8405f0 (thread 0012), starting debugger..
--- snip ---
But thats easy to fix, simply add empty "A" and "W" implementations to msi module:
--- snip dlls/msi/msi.spec ---
245 stdcall MsiEnumProductsExA( str str long long ptr ptr ptr ptr)
246 stdcall MsiEnumProductsExW( wstr wstr long long ptr ptr ptr ptr)
--- snip dlls/msi/msi.spec ---
--- snip dlls/msi/registry.c ---
UINT WINAPI MsiEnumProductsExA( LPCSTR szProductCode, LPCSTR szUserSid,
DWORD dwContext, DWORD dwIndex, LPSTR szInstalledProductCode,
MSIINSTALLCONTEXT* pdwInstalledContext, LPSTR szSid, LPDWORD pcchSid)
{
FIXME("%s %s %d %d %p %p %p %p\n", debugstr_a(szProductCode),
debugstr_a(szUserSid),
dwContext, dwIndex, szInstalledProductCode, pdwInstalledContext,
szSid, pcchSid);
return ERROR_NO_MORE_ITEMS;
}
UINT WINAPI MsiEnumProductsExW( LPCWSTR szProductCode, LPCWSTR szUserSid,
DWORD dwContext, DWORD dwIndex, LPWSTR szInstalledProductCode,
MSIINSTALLCONTEXT* pdwInstalledContext, LPWSTR szSid, LPDWORD pcchSid)
{
FIXME("%s %s %d %d %p %p %p %p\n", debugstr_w(szProductCode),
debugstr_w(szUserSid),
dwContext, dwIndex, szInstalledProductCode, pdwInstalledContext,
szSid, pcchSid);
return ERROR_NO_MORE_ITEMS;
}
--- snip dlls/msi/registry.c ---
That way it doesnt crash (no exception seen, even in full relay).
You see a file copy dialog shortly flashing and then it exits.
All the stuff seems to get copied and registry entries created.
Regards

committed into GIT yesterday, so using the latest GIT should already have it (in
fact, should already have both patches I posted here).

I used to have the latest version of wine. It complained with abscence of Direct
X 9c or higher. I thought this old version has a bug-fix for that problem and
having it installed instead of the latest one would resolve all issues.
So do you still think I need to install the latest wine version? How should I do
it properly to avoid problems with DirectX support?

Just out of curiosity, if you run wine like:
WINEDEBUG=err-dsound wine gw.exe
Does the stuttering persist?
How bout with WINEDEBUG=dsound-err wine gw.exe ?
How bout with WINEDEBUG=-all wine gw.exe ?
And lastly how bout with wine gw.exe &>/dev/null
Each of those commands either turns off a debug channel or outputs it to
infinity. If any of them work to prevent the actual stuttering, it may be that
the debug channel rendering on the screen is causing it. If not, it is
something else in the dsound driver.

Make sure your setup is working and able to make icons in both the menu and
desktop. Make sure that in winecfg, under the Desktop Integration tab, the
Desktop shell folder is set to link to your xorg desktop.
Install WinRAR and tell it to create the Desktop icon. Once install is
finished, look at your xorg desktop and there will be 2 icons for WinRAR, one
with a MS flag logo (indicating it is a .lnk file) and one that will either be
blank, or will have the program's icon (indicating it is a .desktop file)..
If you go back and disable the checkbox for linking the windows desktop folder
to your xorg desktop folder, then you only get one icon (the .desktop file),
while the .lnk file is placed into the windows desktop folder on your fake drive c.

Example:
WinRAR installer, clean .wine with default setup, having only run wineprefixcreate.
Install WinRAR, and tell the installer to create Start Menu and Programs icons.
The icons do not show in the menu even after wineboot and reboot. look in
drive_c/Program Files/WinRAR and there is another folder named WinRAR in there
that has the icons, both the .lnk and .desktop files.
Now go back to that default install I mentioned before, and this time create a
Start Menu folder in drive_c/windows/profiles/(user)
Install WinRAR again and tell the installer to create the Start Menu and
Programs icons again.
Run wineboot
Reboot
Look in your menu and the .desktop icons are there.
Now do the same steps as before but this time, make a symlink called Start Menu
instead of a folder. The symlink should point to ~/.local/share/applications/wine
This time when install is finished, and you have run wineboot and rebooted, the
.desktop and .lnk icons will be there.

Xilinx 6.2 now installs and appears to run fine. I did not do a lot of testing,
but I did an install into a clean .wine directory. I had to modify
dlls/user32/edit.c to eliminate margins in the edit control, in order to be able
to enter the installation code, but that is a separate bug.
I had to find and install msvcr70.dll and mfc42.dll to run Xilinx ISE. With
that, I ran a simple VHDL source file through the entire synthesis and build
process, and opened the resulting ncd file in fpga_editor. Not an exhaustive
test, but things seem to be working fine.

Another thought: As I stated in Comment #5, the problem with local web interface
sessions seems to have appeared only recently, so is it possible that the reason
the patches work with eth0 but not lo is because of some regression introduced
around Wine 0.9.32?

Damjan: Did you intend for event.patch to be applied on top of the changes from
send.patch? The only way I could get event.patch to apply cleanly against the
Wine 0.9.33 release sources was to first apply send.patch.
Anyhow, the patches seem to fix all the problems with remote web interface
sessions, at least on my LAN. I don't see any missing images and all the pages
load and function fine. Good work!
Unfortunately web interface sessions through lo (with the default MTU, not 1500)
are still broken. A couple of images are still failing to load after login, as
before.

You can't just keep filing the same bug.
The way to get attention is to add more detail
to the existing bug, e.g. find other applications
that have the same problem, attach the kinds of
logs that have helped debug similar problems
before (e.g. WINEDEBUG=+psdrv), provide a minimal
test case with source code, etc.

I think that's another problem. The Worms Forts demo I've got here works with
wine 0.9.19, I think you have a newer one. The one I have crashes when you try
to quit, though (it freezes for a minute or so). So I think we've actually got
more than one bug here.
I'll do regression testing of the retail Worms3D tonight (as Lei asked for).
Btw, I once had a demo of Worms3D which also crashed (I'll see if I still have
it somewhere), however I found another one that worked great (up to 0.9.19).
There seem to be alot of issues here, so I think it may be best to concentrate
on the retail Worms3D for now and see if/how the the other versions are affected.

To compile back to wine-20050524 i had to:
add # define CLK_TCK CLOCKS_PER_SEC to /usr/include/time.h
remove my freetype-devel.i386 package
add following to LDFLAGS:
export LDFLAGS="$LDFLAGS -Wl --hash-style=sysv"

When I install now, I still get the "Unable to open active database" dialog.

And now the app actually crashes during startup (instead of hanging).
The crash is in... xerces. Doesn't look like Wine code at all, judging
by the stack. I'll attach the +ole log.

Unable to initiate a TCP/IP connection.
- Maybe the TCP/IP protocol has not been installed?
- Maybe the network was not initiated?
- Maybe the winsock.dll was not installed, not found, or not the correct version?
I tried copying the winsock.dll file from a WIndows XP install into the SYSTEM32

I'll attach all output from the terminal in case it helps.

The winecfg this is easilly answered: There is no winecfg option and there
will never be one. The DirectDraw renderer should be opengl by default, and
autodetected to fall back to gdi if no opengl libs are available, or only
uppon direct request.
The issue that DDraw fails to load completely without opengl is because the
DDraw software renderer is built into wined3d.dll and wined3d.dll is
dynamically linked(at load time) to libGL.so. Having the sw renderer in
wined3d allows us to use it as a fallback if Direct3D blitting
operations(StretchRect, CopyRects) are not supported by the opengl code.
What needs to be done to make DDraw work without gl is to replace the dynamic
load-time linking with lazy linking. The last time this was discussed the idea
was to link wined3d (dynamically) to out opengl32.dll(or native opengl32.dll
on windows). OpenGL32.dll does the lazy linking against libGL.so. For
initialization opengl calls our display driver, winex11.drv or winequartz.drv
which does the platform dependent initialization. Platform independent calls
go from opengl32.dll to libGL.so.
I dislike that idea because I do not think it is good to put abstraction layer
above abstraction layer above abstraction layer in performance critical things
like 3D graphics. In the worst case we have
d3d9->wined3d->opengl32->winex11->libGL.so
Also, if I understand the linking concept correctly, dynamic load time linking
results in faster calls than lazy linking. Thus if we take even the simplest
approach and implement lazy linking in wined3d, this will result in decreased
Direct3D performance. It would be a minor decrease, but still a decrease.
Honestly I think that there are more Direct3D users than users who use
DirectDraw on a non-opengl display. I think Gentoo is the only distro that
offers a way to compile wine without opengl, except manual compiling with
fidling with configure params. Keep in mind that you do not need a 3d
accelerator. The Mesa3D software renderer is perfectly enough, and it maybe
even gives faster performance than our software ddraw renderer.
If you want to implement lazy linking to libGL.so the first step would be a
discussion of the approach on wine-devel. My personal preference would be not
to implement lazy linking and close this bug as invalid, or wait for a general
opengl loading cleanup which moves wined3d over to wgl(opengl32.dll), which we
will need if we want to use our (future) Direct3D10 implementation on windows
xp(and thus close the bug as later).

Tomb Raider 2 has the same problem. It gives the well-known "TR2 doesn't find

4387. However, in this case TR2 is actually right :-) wine's DX isn't coming on
because the openGL test fails and it doesn't "fallback" to software.

native xp strace of app
Hello,
interesting app - from reversers point of view :).
Lots of anti debugging tricks which make this stuff a pain to debug (even more
with half working ollydbg on wine)
The stack exception overflow is on purpose (e.g. recusive calling) probably to
hide the real cause (and to misguide any debugger).
I did a system level strace on *native* windows xp.
Nothing suspicious (taking the anti-debugging countermeasures into account).
You can "synchronize" the native windows strace and wine trace by searching

The good news is that I managed to get Tribes2 to blow up in my face, too. I
also seem to get lots of output on +winsock. Now, I haven't tried online gaming
yet, so I'm not sure if it's the same issue you are seeing.
Could you please try if the first solo mission works for you? Tribes 2 fails to
load it for me, producing lots of funny winsock traces.

I was about to confirm that bug with 0.9.31, when I decided to give current git

It still blows up on me when trying to start a game. I still suspect a sound
issue, though. And there's lots of stuff on the winsock debug channel.. But that
might be worth a new bug.

Just installed wine 0.9.31 to my Gentoo system. The opengl USE flag is unset, so
wine was compiled without OpenGL support.
I opened Regedit and set
HKCU/Software/Wine/Direct3D/DirectDrawRenderer = gdi (still no winecfg option?)
Upon starting vanilla Starcraft, I get this error:
err:ddraw:DDRAW_Create Couldn't load WineD3D - OpenGL libs not present?
>From Starcraft I get a neat little message to the extent of, "Starcraft couldn't
initialize your graphics card with DirectDraw. Make sure you have DirectDraw 5
or later installed etc. etc."
>From earlier dev comments in this bug I got the impression that Wine should
automatically fallback to the "old behaviour" if the OpenGL capabilities check
returns negative?
It doesn't do that, and just exits instead (same behaviour with and without the
registry key.)
Expected behaviour:
1) Compiling with OpenGL support should be optional
2) wine should fall back to plain X rendering if no OpenGL available (ie if the
check returns negative.)
I can check with Baldur's Gate too, if you want.
Stefan, I'm willing to help; tell me what you need.

Summary: Photomatix 2.4 crashes if user tries to calculate the
average between pictures
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.33.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-programs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: christianuceda(a)yahoo.com
Introduction: photomatix is a very nice little tool (albeit a bit ugly) to
combine different exposed pictures to generate HDR images. The HDR generation
and tone mapping functions works wery well (and fast!) in wine. However the the
Average functions do not work and make the app crash.
I'm using ubuntu 6.10 (edgy) and Wine 0.9.33
To install and run the program:
rm -fr /home/user/.wine
wineprefixcreate
wget http://dl.filekicker.com/send/file/184124-U1PR/PhotomatixPro24.exe
wine Photomatix240.exe
Complete installation using all the default settings, basicaly click next until
you reach the end
To reproduce the crashes:
1)Click on File->open, go to the program's samples folder: “c:\Program
files\Photomatix\samples” and open the folder named “3bracketedimages” folder,
inside this folder there are three jpg files from the same scene with different
exposures. Open them all, click on the first file and then holding the shift
key click on the last image, then click open.
2)Click on any of the newly open image windows, and then click on the “Combine”
menu and select the “Average” option.
At this point the app crashes (Screenshot 1) displaying a small dialog that
says: Run-time error '13': Type mismatch, if you click ok the app terminates
and the following message is printed on my terminal:
fixme:ole:OLEPictureImpl_FindConnectionPoint no connection point for {33ad4ed2-

wine: Unhandled page fault on write access to 0xb134b10f at address 0x20b0fc
(thread 0011), starting debugger...
Under the “Combine” menu all the different average options crashes in a
different and weird way opening more or less error windows, and then output
things like:

ReportedBy: christianuceda(a)yahoo.com
Introduction: photomatix is a very nice little tool (albeit a bit ugly) to
combine different exposed pictures to generate HDR images. Overall the GUI
works perfectly under wine. The app's GUI looks a bit odd but that is the way
it looks like in windows too. There is one serious bug with the GUI, when you
try to copy or paste your license details, wine crashes.
I'm using ubuntu 6.10 (edgy) and Wine 0.9.33
To reproduce the problem:
rm -fr /home/user/.wine
wineprefixcreate
wget http://dl.filekicker.com/send/file/184124-U1PR/PhotomatixPro24.exe
wine Photomatix240.exe
Complete installation using all the default settings, basicaly click next until
you reach the end
Once you launch Photomatix you will be presented with a window with three
buttons, “register”, “continue trial” “order license key”, we are interested on
the “Register...” button, click on it and a new window will appear on screen,
in this window you can type your license details, if you type the details by
hand everything works as expected, but if you try to copy or paste into any of
the text fields, wine crashes.

Hello,
>The demo version available online works with wine too (the last time I've tried).
You refer to http://www.zemax.com/ ?
The lastest demo available there is ver 2007 - which seems to work (at least it
doesnt crash at startup).
Version 2005 doesnt seem to be available for download ... any chance to upgrade
your stuff to 2007?
It's hard to tell just from crash dump...
You might supply more info using following
% WINEDEBUG=+tid,+seh,+relay wine $appname >crashlog.txt 2>&1
If log file gets too large you might cut it starting ~200 lines before the crash.

------- Additional Comments From Speeddymon(a)gmail.com 2007-21-03 09:51 -------
I discovered some other things yesterday as well. If you run wineprefixcreate
prior to running winecfg, then you end up with ` ~/.wine/drive_c that is not used..
In other words, run winecfg first, setup everything how you want, and then run
wineprefixcreate to update the symlinks, and make the windows directory tree in
the fake c that is where you want it.
Now with that being said. When you run winecfg, look under the Desktop
Integration tab. In the Shell Folders section are several shell folders, like
Desktop and My Documents. If you click on those there is a check box below that
says Link To and to the right of the check box is a place for you to type a path
to where you want your desktop to point to, etc.
If you leave those checked, then when you run the WinRAR installer, the .lnk
file that WinRAR installs on windows gets put on your xorg desktop, ALONG WITH
the .desktop file that wine creates from that .lnk file, so you get 2 icons on
your desktop, one that works and one doesnt. But if you click on Desktop in
winecfg and uncheck that check box, and then run the installer, then you get
just the .desktop file like you are supposed to.
Unfortunately, winecfg does not have an option for the Start Menu shell folder,
and wineprefixcreate doesn't create it either, so when you run the WinRAR
installer, the winrar shortcuts get placed into the Program Files\WinRAR
directory. But if you manually create the Start Menu folder as a symlink to
your xorg menu's folder (~/.local/share/applications/wine), then the .lnk files
AND .desktop files are put in your menu.. If you manually create the Start Menu
folder as a regular folder, then you get just the .desktop files in your menu,
like you are supposed to.....
SO, here are the bugs:
1) windows\profiles\(user)\Desktop (as symlink) makes you get 2 icons per
shortcut on desktop, same for Start\ Menu (as symlink)
2) windows\profiles\Start Menu doesn't exist by default, when it should
3) winecfg needs to have a Shell Folder entry for Start Menu..

That's strange. Ben mentioned GTA 2 isn't working but it does for me. Same with
other games using binkw32.dll, such as Rayman 3, Tomb Rader Legend(demo), Max
Payne 2, Red Faction. GTA 3 uses mpegs btw, so that's a different problem
(doesn't work for me either). Bink didn't work for me at all for a long time.
However that was a bug in the Nvidia drivers (8xxx). I don't think this actually
is a bug with bink but a more general problem.

It writes something to the NULL locations and thus crashes the application. From
the Lenders dump we know that the problem is that even if
IShellFolder::GetAttributesOf is required to work only for simple PIDLs, the
Windows desktop folder works for full PIDLs as well and Photoshop makes use of
it. When we add this feature to Wine desktop folder the errors should disappear.

Windows doesn't allow to select a DDB (device dependent bitmap) to an
incompatible device context, so that's not a Wine but Windows limitation.
We have a test for this behaviour in dlls/gdi32/tests/bitmap.c
You need to find out why the Bat! creates a bitmap with bpp=32 and selects
it to a screen DC with bpp 24 bit, or whether this is supposed to work under
Windows.

Worms3D used to work perfectly until wine-0.9.19. Ever since 0.9.20 (and up to
present) the game crashes during the loading screen. Wine doesn't actually print
anything suspicious but I'll attach the output anyway. This bug also affects
"Worms Forts: Under Siege" (at least the demo version).

Have you investigated some kind of a log? Does commenting out an error exit

It can be a lot of other reasons or bugs.

Sorry, but this is an error: it cripples some important functionality in The
Bat!, and can even cause data loss. (I have linked the AppDB entry for The Bat!
to this bugzilla entry, even though it seems it hasn't been accepted yet.)
As shown by some of the screenshots posted to the AppDB entry, /all/ icons in
The Bat! appear as black or gray silhouettes. This is not just an aesthetical
problem: The Bat!'s Message Dispatcher allows the user to choose what to do
with very message on the server: retrieve, delete, open. For each message there
are three checkboxes, one for each function, but currnetly it's impossible to
tell which ones are checked and which ones are not, meaning that you may
inadvertently delete a message from the server without storing it, thereby
causing *data loss*. In fact, I make extensive use of the Message Dispatcher,
and I've been bitten by this issue a couple of times. Although I've been able
to prevent the data loss by crash-terminating The Bat! before it could actually
delete the messages from the server, I'm sure you understand this should not be
normal way of operation :)
So yes, this is a bug, and it's also rather important. I actually think the
severity should be upped to major because of the data loss possibility.

To elaborate further, the two possible approaches are:
1. removing the check on L124 and adding a line to ignore_error for
request_code == X_CreatePixmap and error_code == BadValue
or
2. use XListPixmapFormats to retrieve the supported pixmap formats, and check
against those instead of checking against the pre-fixed values. Retrieving the
supported pixmap formats can probably be done at driver initialization.

Summary: "err:x11drv:X11DRV_CreateBitmap Trying to make bitmap

Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.31.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-x11driver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: giuseppe.bilotta(a)gmail.com
When running The Bat version 3.x I get a long string of errors
err:x11drv:X11DRV_CreateBitmap Trying to make bitmap with planes=1, bpp=32
I'm running the stock Debian X.org 7.1.0-15 with the open source nVidia driver
(nv) and the screen depth is 24 bit.
It is my understanding that the error line comes from line 124 of bitmap.c
http://source.winehq.org/source/dlls/winex11.drv/bitmap.c?v=wine-0.9.31#L124
and that the reason for the early warning is to prevent the call to
XCreatePixmap (on line 143 of the same file) from failing due to depth mismatch.
However, screen_depth and allowed pixmap depths are not always the same, as
shown by a call to xdpyinfo on my system:
number of supported pixmap formats: 7
supported pixmap formats:
depth 1, bits_per_pixel 1, scanline_pad 32
depth 4, bits_per_pixel 8, scanline_pad 32
depth 8, bits_per_pixel 8, scanline_pad 32
depth 15, bits_per_pixel 16, scanline_pad 32
depth 16, bits_per_pixel 16, scanline_pad 32
depth 24, bits_per_pixel 32, scanline_pad 32
depth 32, bits_per_pixel 32, scanline_pad 32
Given that the relevant code hasn't changed in 0.9.33, I think the code is
still valid.
The solution is probably to skip the explicit test for the bitmap depth on line
124 and rather check if XCreatePixmap generates some error after line 143. As
an alternative, the bitmap depth should be checked against all the pixmap depth
supported by the visual rather than just the monochrome and visual depth. But I
think the 'check after XCreatePixmap' solution is better.
I'm sorry I've never done any Xlib programming ever, or I'd try and provide a
patch myself.

Hi, i got exactly the same problem and i solved it by configuring my video card
to work in 3D mode (GLX) under X11 - installed the driver module (nvidia...) and
configured properly my /etc/X11/xorg.conf -. Now it works perfectly.
For information, here is some extracts of my xorg.conf:
#Check the "glx is in ur Module section:
Section "Module"
Load "glx"
[...]
EndSection
#And be sure to use the properly 3d driver, 'nvidia' for me, not the 'nv' one
Section "Device"
Identifier "Card0"
Driver "nvidia"
Option "AddARGBGLXVisuals" "true"
Option "RenderAccel" "true"
Option "AllowGLXWithComposite" "True"
VendorName "nVidia Corporation"
BoardName "NV34 [GeForce FX 5500]"
BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
EndSection
Section "Extensions"
Option "Composite" "enable"
EndSection
And voila, enjoy ,)

The important question is: what do you intend to do about it? Nothing and kill
Wine once and for all on older platforms due to what's possibly a rather common
bug (if it also applies to XF86), or try to avoid the problem there and only
affect (newer) software that absolutely requires multithreaded GDI? To me this
looks like a classic case of a configure option.
Generally speaking, Wine developers should leave their new rigs with the latest
of everything and try to get it to run on more dated systems now and then; an
extremely frustrating experience, I can assure you.
