Summary: drmUnmap back failed!
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.32.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-misc
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: skippyboy2005(a)gmail.com
Hi all - I recently upgraded my openSuse10.2 distro.
Before the upgrade winecfg, winetools, and wine in general "just worked".
However since the upgrade - I keep getting this error message:
bobby@linux:~> winecfg
drmUnmap back failed!
ERROR! mapping regions
Segmentation fault
Here is what happens when I try to run the wineprefixcreate:
bobby@linux:~> wineprefixcreate
drmUnmap back failed!
ERROR! mapping regions
/usr/local/bin/wineprefixcreate: line 171: 2298 Segmentation
fault "${WINELOADER:-$bindir/wine}" rundll32.exe
setupapi.dll,InstallHinfSection DefaultInstall 128 wine.inf
I don't know if this is a wine-related issue - or could it be the new
version of KDE? Or something else? I have no clue what the drmUnmap or the
mapping regions error are referring to.
Here is my system info:
bobby@linux:~> uname -a
Linux linux 2.6.18.8-0.1-default #1 SMP Fri Mar 2 13:51:59 UTC 2007
i686
i686 i386 GNU/Linux
And the upgrade I performed took me to KDE 3.5.6 "release 31.4"
Here is what I have tried so far:
1. uninstall the wine rpm packages, delete the ~/.wine directory and
reinstall the rpms. Same errors (version wine-0.9.32)
2. Uninstall the rpms, delete ~/.wine, compile from source. Same errors
(version wine-0.9.32)
3. Uninstall the source (using make uninstall), delete the ~/.wine
directory, and comile from source. Same errors (version wine-0.9.30)
I can't help but think that maybe there is a permission set wrong or
something - but I don't know enough about the project to know where to
look.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

The latest patch does cause the menubar to show up consistently now in
Weatherscope. The Inspector and Gradient dialogs are now drawn properly as
well. However, this patch does seem to generate a noticable flicker now as the
OpenGL areas are updated.

Component: wine-gui
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: rmay(a)ou.edu
For any version of Weatherscope (1.4.1 being current) with any wine as long as I
can remember, the title bar for all windows only display a single character.
For example, when running the program for the first time, the main window's
title bar will only have the letter "U", when it should have "Untitled". Any
dialog window opened within the program will also only display a single
character. For instance, the date/time editor window only shows "D" as the title.
FYI, make sure to run Weatherscope with the full path or it _will_ crash. Also,
if you want more windows to test, there's a menubar at the top of the window
that works, but is hidden by the infamous child OpenGL bug#2398.

It turns out that tvprunner.exe (the exe that crashes) is in fact xulrunner.exe.
Somehow, i think during installation a registry entry has not been written for
this. That's the first bug
When do 'cp tvprunner.exe xulrunner.exe' the crash is gone, but after some
waiting (and native dbghelp.dll) it pops up a crash report, asking if you would
like to send it. There's lots of line of "fixme: GetCharacterPlacementW flags
ignored" in the console. If i hack a bit around in GetCharacterPlacementW, the
crash seems to be gone, but there's nothing visible either on the desktop. So
second bug _might_ be a problem in GetCharacterPlacementW (not sure though)

Should I create new bug report with description of new problem or just describe

(because as we can see now startup crash has more than one cause).

Keywords: download, Installer
Severity: normal

While googling for something else, I ran into
http://www.xwall.us/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=9772&sid=10ccd6aacc8f415d28a23c9…
which is an explanation of how to install xwall (a spam filter server)
under wine.
It's a scary recipe; it calls for a bazillion native DLLs, including ie6,
installed with winetools.
Trying to run xwall's setup.exe without any of that crap yields a
fatal dialog
Installation failed
usage: setup [mailbeam.inf]
Looking at the log, it seems the installer invokes
0009:Call shell32.ShellExecuteA(00000000,0040700e "install",00407004
"xwall.inf",00000000,00000000,00000001) ret=00401033
i.e. invokes ShellExecute with the verb "install".
Wine seems to do the wrong thing in this case:
0009:Call kernel32.CreateProcessW(00000000,0033de1c
L"xwall.inf",00000000,00000000,00000000,00000400,00000000,00000000,0033dd08,0033dd4c)
ret=7ec528ac
which doesn't seem to work well at all.
Maybe Windows registers a 'install' verb with the shell that knows
what to do with .inf files? I'm ignorant here.

I think I might know what's wrong. In some cases, WSASend() needs to block until
the entire buffer given to it is sent, while I think wine sometimes returns
earlier like the semantics of send(). I'll run some tests this weekend. Wish me
luck.
