dlls/wined3d/device.c and dlls/wined3d/stateblock.c respectively).

PokerStars has this problem too, but from 0.9.32, it seems as if progress is
being made. I can scroll up or down, drag the scroll box up or down, or click
within the scroll bar to move quickly up or down. The only problem seems to be
that the scroll bar box (the box that shows progress within the scroll bar
itself) stays put or resets itself at the very top at all costs when it is
vertical, don't know about a horizontal bar. Before 0.9.32, doing any of these
would reset the contents of available poker tables to the very top. Hopefully,
this will be fixed a.s.a.p.

Leftover stuff is unlikely because I always clean the tree _before_ patching
it up (so I couldn't find any *.o *.a *.so files after a regular clean). OK,
I tried distclean anyway, deleted all leftover Makefiles and configured the
tree. Anything in particular you're interested in? Because the verbose output
doesn't look any different, apart from some messages about specials that won't
be built at the end (like CUPS support or XRandr).
Then I tried running it, but it failed exactly as before. So I renamed ~/.wine
and ran tools/wineprefixcreate -- which built and populated ~/.wine and then
bombed:
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x00000037 at address 0x6028bdc0
(thread 0009), starting debugger...
warn:gdi:GDI_GetObjPtr Invalid handle 0xe88

Read the Wine Developers Guide on how to set up winedbg or another debugger
err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled exception code c000013a flags 0 addr 0x601f53c2
I then tried running 0.9.32 with this new ~/.wine and first had to fiddle
around with drive_c and dosdevices/c: a bit because my windows stuff is
located elsewhere (symbolic links), but got that sorted out (including the
updated C:\windows directory). So I tried 0.9.32 on DeusEx and it bombed
too. Noteworthy stuff:
warn:module:load_builtin_dll failed to load .so lib for builtin
L"C:\\Programs\\DeusEx\\System\\Core.dll":
/cryptohome/andreas/.wine/dosdevices/c:/Programs/DeusEx/System/Core.dll: invalid

This seems a bit odd. Even if it's OK it's highly irritating.
warn:module:load_builtin_dll cannot open .so lib for builtin L"Core.dll":
/opt/wine/lib/wine/core.dll.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or
directory
This is odd because /opt/wine is my regular install directory (currently
0.9.8) and since I'm running 0.9.32 from the source directory, Wine shouldn't
look there at all!
warn:module:load_builtin_dll failed to load .so lib for builtin
L"C:\\windows\\system32\\advapi32.dll":

err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled exception code c0000005 flags 0 addr 0xb579c
The end. I'll probably try the full 0.9.32 tarball tomorrow (I used the
patches so far), but highly doubt it'll fix this problem. Any further ideas?

that is not a "cache flush cpu exception" but a SIMD/SSE exception.
And looking at the asm code it seems this divide-by-zero fault is generated on
purpose.
Google says that this is probably part of a runtime SSE detection routine to
detect if the OS supports SIMD exceptions.
The problem is wine doesn't properly recognizes and responds to this exception.
Needs some testing first what exactly windows does here.
I'll try to look into this if no one beats me to it.

Urgh. +relay seems to indicate that CPUID was used just before the exception
happened. Earlier I verified that the code is testing for SSE and SSE2 flags
(although disabling these checks didn't avoid the FPE). This makes sense, but
contradicts my former supposition. I'm not sure about anything now (maybe this
FPE is just the wrong thing to look at?) :-(

FPE in Windows XP
I've run the game through a debugger under Windows XP, and it catches the same
FPE (screenshot attached). After that, the process terminates. The only
explanation I can think of is that this program includes an anti-tracing
mechanism and aborts when a debugger is found. In this case, it could either
be that:
- The FPE is just a red herring.
- The FPE is purposely caused by the program as a "weird" manner of telling
us not to mess with it.
Please can someone with a clue about this confirm or deny my supposition ? And
if it is to be confirmed, any idea on what can wine do to work around this mess
?
Thanks

Try a make distclean in the source tree. As files and directories are moved from
time to time some old stuff gets left and cause problems.
Once clean then
./configure --verbose
and review the output then
make depend && make
Also move or rename ~./wine folder before you regenerate with makeprefixcreate.

My laptop has a 1680x1050 screen and an Nvidia 7300 (driver 9631 under Ubuntu
Feisty Fawn with latest upgrades, including Wine 0.9.32), but if I configure
CS:S to a resolution bigger than 1280x800 and I connect to a server, the game
crashes after a few seconds playing. In fact I think it generally crashes when
someone gets killed, but it's not systematic and the player who gets killed has
not to be visible.
Letting bots play alone, I could try several resolution: there was no problem
with every 4/3 resolutions, including the LCD one. So the game only crashes with
1440x900 and 1680x1050. I also tried with all video options at lowest, with
-dxlevel 70 or in windowed mode, and it crashes to with those resolutions. I
also tried with wine 0.9.30 and 0.9.31, and the same issue was already present.
I just noticed that the video performance test is really slow (about 1-2 FPS,
even in 1280x800) and buggy (depends from one time to another, but one time the
test was drawn only on 1/4 of the screen with misplaced objects in the remainder
of the screen)
I recorder a debug trace but it is really heavy (~34Mb) so I will only attach
the end of it, with what's seems to be outputted when the game crashes
(Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x00000024 in 32-bit code
(0x0d2eb413).
I launched the game with (most of the output is from seh, but as I don't know
what you need, I will let it)

Note that this is when running Wine from its source directory with the
wrapper-script; I have little motivation installing a version that doesn't
even start up properly from there. The last Wine version usable to me was
0.9.8 (this bug happened several releases later, though).
Initially I had hoped it'd get fixed in a future version, but nothing changed
since then and because no updates of Wine over the last 2 years allowed me to
run any programs I couldn't run with a 2004 version I pretty much lost any
motivation to file the bug. I'm doing it now anyway, although my hopes are
low.

The problem occurs with any encoder. I used oggenc.exe from
http://www.rarewares.org/files/ogg/oggenc2.83-aoTuVr1generic.zip .
- start foobar 2000
- add some audio files to the playlist
- mark and right click them
- choose convert -> convert to...
- choose an encoding preset ("Ogg Vorbis, 192kbps, q6.0" in my case)
- click "OK"
- choose a directory where the converted files should be stored
Then a progress dialogue appears where you can see that it encodes one file at a
time. Using native Windows you can see that it does one conversion for each cpu.

Is this being worked on? I'm using Wine 0.9.32 on openSUSE 10.2 and Tomb
Raider II is still indeed very laggy.

Did you tell winecfg to emulate a virtual desktop?
The patch doesn't do anything unless you do.

If you're still having problems with a clean
.wine directory (and without winetools),
please open a new bug with the name of the
app in the bug summary. The current bug report
is getting too confusing, and it looks like
everybody having this problem is improperly
mixing native and builtin dlls.

Bingo! Ryan, that sounds very related. Not sure what the right way
to fix this is, though...

x86_DEBUG_STATE32 should be defined in /usr/include/mach/i386/thread_status.h.
You probably need to upgrade your headers.
