Summary: shift-key instantly pressed, all aps
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.32.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-x11driver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: vladimirkadlec(a)gmail.com
Once the shift key is pressed, then all applications behaves like the shift is
pressed, eveven if it is not.
Example:
wine notepad
- press left or right shift, then pop it, no shift is pressed, caps-lock is off.
Then press 'a' key, the uppercase 'A' appears in editor (lowercase 'a'
expected); press '1' key, the '!' appears (number '1' expected).
When I press left shift, I get:
err:keyboard:X11DRV_ToUnicodeEx Please report: no char for keysym FE0A
(ISO_Prev_Group) :
err:keyboard:X11DRV_ToUnicodeEx (virtKey=10,scanCode=36,keycode=32,state=1)
When I press right shift, I get:
err:keyboard:X11DRV_ToUnicodeEx Please report: no char for keysym FE0A
(ISO_Prev_Group) :
err:keyboard:X11DRV_ToUnicodeEx (virtKey=10,scanCode=402A,keycode=32,state=1)
I use X.Org 7.0.0-0ubuntu45, in xorg.conf I have:
Option "XkbLayout" "us,cz(qwerty)"
Option "XkbOptions" "grp:shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll"
The bug appears in both "us" layout and also in "cz(qwerty)" layout.
No problem with it in 0.9.31.

the different values are simply because when recompiling a new wine version, you
get different addresses for the same crash (eip), and possibly different stack
layout (esp)
for the real fix, I haven't sent it yet as I'm still not convinced what the real
solution should be... I wonder if the debug info is broken (and the code should
be protected against such constructs) or if we really have to support them...

After some more testing with 0.9.32, I've found that the crash indeed still does
happen, however only about half the time.
One possible reason for this is that my "type-ahead" box is filled with 5 or 6
entries, while those testing it the way I've described probably only have 1.
Either way, the bug is still live (and the terminal output looks largely the
same, though I can attach another log if you like).

Repeatable in wine-0.9.31-1.fc6. By making a few changes to the registry
(http://forums.relicnews.com/showthread.php?p=2172829#post2172829) the game
seems otherwise complete and operational from a Windows install left on the
Windows disk and sym-linked as G: (same drive as under Windows), but campaign
crashes out. Log file to be attached.
Pre-campaign Tutorial level loads okay, so it's definitely an oddity of the main
campaign code itself (which is new in DC)

I get tons of this error (fixme:winsock:NtStatusToWSAError Status code c0000024
converted to DOS error code 6) running Neo emule v4.25
(http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=147686). By tons I mean
several docens per minute.
I've got ubuntu 6.10, and wine installed as said here (from the repositories),
version 0.9.31~winehq0~ubuntu~6.10-1, and emule is running as root, and it has
USS (Upload Speed Sense) enabled (uses icmp messages). It uses TCP, UDP and ICMP
messages.
In spite of them all, emule seems to work well. I only detected that after
12-14h Kademlia network gets disconnected and can't be reconnected without
quitting emule and restarting. Usually, after the restart, it seems to download
better if you have lot of sources (600+).
Hope this helps

Summary: Conquer/Conquista: garbled input in user/pass boxes from
login screen
Product: Wine
Version: CVS
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-gui
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: rmh(a)aybabtu.com
In Conquer/Conquista, input typed in user/pass boxes from login screen is
garbled. I think some characters are skipped (note: in order to type in the
user/pass boxes, first you have to know about the other bugs that prevent you
from reaching this point, see http://appdb.winehq.org/appview.php?iVersionId=4055
Edit cursor moves constantly from start to end of the edit box (about 1-2 Hz).
when you hit a key, there's a small chance (I'd say ~1/8) that the letter will
be ignored, thus creating broken input. Attempting to correct anything using
arrows and/or delete/backspace just seems to make it worse, so when I miss
something I just restart.
I've found it practical to use clipboard (note: clipboard only works with
virtual desktop!! maybe because of Bug 7552 ?) to get the username in, but doing
the same for password doesn't result (not sure why), so I type the password
manualy, taking much care to re-type characters when they've been lost.

Dmitry pointed out my patch would hurt performance. On second tought i already
thought it would be better to catch theexception in X11DRV_SetDIBits. Tests

Hopefully this patch is acceptable and won't hurt performance. Anyone could

I just tried spss 15 demo. It crashed with an MSI-ish
error, but when I retried it with WINEDEBUG=+msi,
it ran to completion. Go figure...
To run, and maybe to install really happily, it
needs the msvc 6 runtime libraries.
If I can find the spss 12 demo somewhere, I'll test it again...

After deleting the whole wine installation, with apt-get remove --purge, and
starting over, eMule 0.47c starts fine with wine 0.9.30

------- Additional Comments From dank(a)kegel.com 2007-03-03 02:20 -------
Version 8.2 does indeed install better, but it still has problems.
There are lots of complaints of the form
fixme:atl:AtlModuleInit SEMI-STUB (0x60cfd198 0x60cf76c0 0x60c80000)
fixme:atl:AtlModuleUpdateRegistryFromResourceD MapEntries and Registrar
parameter not supported
Failed to register DLL c:\Program Files\Mercury Interactive\QuickTest
Professional\bin\VoPackage.dll
(hence I'm changing the category to ATL)
and at the end something goes clearly wrong:
wine: Unhandled page fault on write access to 0x00530049 at address 0x7efa4a56
(thread 023f), starting debugger...
err:seh:raise_exception Unhandled exception code c0000005 flags 0 addr 0x7efa4a56
err:ole:ifproxy_release_public_refs IRemUnknown_RemRelease failed with error
0x800706c0
at which it aborted with a dialog box saying
"Unable to open active database".
Then when you try running the app, it exits with
err:ole:create_server class {0eabb8c3-eb3f-4240-86d2-e574d40ea94a} not registered
so perhaps it matters that all those DLL registrations failed.

Created an attachment (id=5199)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=5199&action=view)
download from gps, upload to gps
I've done the test with eTrex Camo, using serial cable and wine-0.9.31.
Now MapSource 6.9.1 DOES NOT CRASH ANYMORE and is ABLE TO DOWNLOAD data from
gps.
UPLOADING to gps DOES NOT WORK, the program starts the progress bar, waits
about 20 seconds, and shows a windows error message: "There was an error
communicating with your device. Please make sure your device is plugged in and
turned on. If errors continue to occur, you may need to restart your device."
Of course, I have checked writing permissions to /dev/ttyS*.
The attached log is the error output of wine, using
WINEDEBUG="+comm,+tid,+pid,+file,+reg,+seh,+relay".
The 'Be/kimeneti hiba' message stands for 'In/output error'.

Ben,
I moved the folder to my drive_c and tried
wine "C:\\Program Files\\runewizard\\Runeword Wizard.exe" and
wine "C:\Program Files\runewizard\Runeword Wizard.exe"
The app runs with both (just like when I used the 'real' paths), but the files
are still searched for in my home folder. In other words, the exact same thing
happens.

Yeah, it works better now. Still some glitches, and still slow,
but three processes are left around afterwards:

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-x11driver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: h.figge(a)gmx.de
Could be related to bug# 6142, because i'm also using a nvidia card and the
error-message is almost the same.
After setting musicEnabled=0 in GOTHIC.INI the game runs quite well for some
minutes, then it freezes with
err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x7e3b91a0 "x11drv_main.c:
X11DRV_CritSection" wait timed out in thread 0009, blocked by 0013, retrying (60

X11DRV_CritSection" wait timed out in thread 0011, blocked by 0013, retrying (60
sec)
and gothic had to be killed with ^c. Reproducible always.
The full log of a session can be found here:
http://www.triffids.de/pub/spiele/g1/gothic_1_err.txt.gz (47 KB)
Gothic German 1.08j, wine 0.9.32, Debian/Sid, linux 2.6.20.1, xorg 7.1.0, nvidia
1.0.8776-4
If you need more information, please tell me, what kind and how i can retrieve them.
---
Not related to the summary, but there are lots of 'invalid ELF header' in the log
