Summary: AppDB keeps changing distribution - Ubuntu 7.04 "Feisty"
to blank
Product: WineHQ Apps Database
Version: unspecified
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: NEW
Severity: major
Priority: P1
Component: website-bugs
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ben(a)atomnet.co.uk
No idea why this is happening but every so often when I accept new versions of
apps to the AppDB, I notice an email telling me I've added distro "" and then
another email saying I've modified it when I've done neither. It turns out that
it's Ubuntu Feisty being renamed each time to blank. Thunderbird said he got an
email about the same thing but it said that killertux had done it that time.

Is there anyway someone could post how they got Terragen 2 working in Wine?
I have:
-uninstalled my current version of wine
-downloaded the source tarball and extracted
-patched the source using the patch command (output reports patching was 100%
successful)
-./configure, then make depend && make, then make install
-run wine tgd.exe
same problem as before.
Any thoughts or is that the wrong way to do this?

Yes, the same problem occurs in the demo.
The videocard is a S3 SuperSavage IX/C. The driver version is whatever's in the
kernel (2.6.15-28).
This is the only console output:
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_GetAvailableTextureMem (0x1700d0) : stub,
simulating 64MB for now, returning 64MB left
fixme:win:WIN_CreateWindowEx Parent is HWND_MESSAGE
fixme:ddraw:IDirectDrawImpl_SetCooperativeLevel (0x16f730)->((nil),00000008)
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DStateBlockImpl_Release Releasing primary stateblock

Hello,
it would help much if the installer could be made available somewhere for the
right people to look into matter :)
In the meantime i'd like to see
WINEDEBUG=+tid,+seh,+loaddll,+file wine setup.exe > log 2>&1
(attachment)

It's crashing in FindNextFile. Most crashes inside custom action calls aren't
msi related.

Yes, the installer exits very quickly with an error code on wine. The call to
ExitProcess with an error code happens in line 58k or so of the log, so I only
included the first 60k lines of the 400 something MB relay log. Haven't tested
it on windows yet, but I would expect this kind of behavior to be abnormal....
I'll test this on windows and report back later.

Sorry, I misunderstood. The err:menubuilder lines happen
after the problem has already occurred, so they don't matter
at all. I see now that the only problem you are really
reporting is that the initial .exe, which returns
quickly, exits with nonzero status on Wine but not on Windows.
Right?

I get exactly the same console output as you, but everything is installed fine,
and the game starts just fine.....

Since the error happens at the end, the first 60k of the log
don't really help, I fear.
What happens if you fake out InvokeShellLinker to return success?

(Please don't paste large logs inline, thanks.)
I don't think there's a demo version of the application,
but I'm asking the vendor for a copy anyway. In the
meantime, here are a few questions:
Has this ever worked for you?
I'm marking this as msi because the crash seems to
be happening inside an msi custom action dll.
Can you run with
WINEDEBUG=+msi,+seh wine setup.exe > log 2>&1
and attach the resulting log file to this bug?

As I mentioned before this patch is not acceptable by Alexandre. The way to go
is to basically revert the window management change in wine. After this change
there were only X11 windows left for toplevel windows (and filemenus and some
other small things).
This is the most tricky area of Wine to play with and basically Alexandre is the
only one who knows it well. I fear that it will take months or even longer to
get ready, so don't count on anything. Once opengl32 is stable which it can be
made after this huge change, then and only then WineD3D will be ported over to
WGL. If we really go this way then WineD3D->WGL wouldn't be needed for windowed
direct3d but it would nonetheless be useful.

Hello,
what do you mean with serial port support broken?
Is your app crashing?
What symptoms?
If possible supply trace/test case/program which shows correct (0.9.27) and
incorrect (0.9.35) behaviour.

So what is the status of wined3d->wgl so this stuff will start helping Zork
Nemesis? I can get the game to run if I turn the sound hardware acceleration to
complete emulation, but the display is messed up. When I'm in a location, it
displays an image; when I rotate the view, or move, it flickers the correct
images but once it stops moving, the first image is over everything. Plus the
menu at the top flickers and half-displays but any further display is again
covered up by the first image. I tried .31 and .35 on Debian etch. Wine itself
seems to be fine and runs other stuff normally.
