Probably relevant to say that at startup wine tried producing font information
giving errors on every single font, sort of:
err:font:XFONT_BuildMetrics failed to load -lucida-lucida
bright-bold-r-normal--100-*-100-100-p-0-iso8859-1
for almost every font.

Apparently, this bug only happens when using "Hardware Acceleration: Full" in
the Audio section of winecfg. When it's set to emulation, everything works normally.
Hmmm, seems like a was wrong again :-|
I suppose this bug status should be changed now?

Summary: Font issues make this release almost unusable
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.35.
Platform: Other
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-gui
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: scallegari(a)arces.unibo.it
This appears as a severe regression wrt 0.9.34, at least on Ubuntu 6.10:
Fonts have became extremely bad: almost unreadable.
In MDI, subwindows should get iconize, expand, and close buttons on their bar,
marked by the usual symbols. Rather, they get the buttons marked by weird letters.
(try for instance LTSpice, a free circuit simulator).

Summary: Wine Midi Mapper takes preference over TiMidity,
stopping midi playback in some cases
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.35.
Platform: Other
URL: http://www.clickteam.com/webftp/files/tgf2/Demo/TGF2Demo
.exe
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-multimedia
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: philip.kent(a)ntlworld.com
If like me you use TiMidity to play MIDI, especially with Wine, no MIDI would be
played back unless the application lets you pick what MIDI Mapper you want to
play back on (such as Noteworthy Composer, I can put the Wine Midi Mapper into
Disabled, and put one of the TiMidity options into Enabled). This is because the
Wine Midi Mapper takes preference over TiMidity.
Users should have option in winecfg to adjust the default playback/recording
device for each category (so it could also work for Wave playback for example).
This could be done with a button called Make Default, which makes the device the
default device for that category.
This way, I can set TiMidity to be the default device for MIDI playback, and
then I can play MIDI from all applications, not just ones that have the option
to set the playback device.
(The URL shows an application that is affected by this bug, if I was to set MIDI
playback in it, it would not play as it goes through the Wine MIDI).

The patch fixed the crash, Winword6 runs now quite smooth.
However, the setting in winecfg to use the native 16bit dlls for winword.exe is
still somehow bypassed. I will investigate and come back on this.

Having same problem with 0.9.35. It does play the "EA Sports: Challenge
Everything" intro, and the Maxis logo, and the SimCity 4 intro video, but then
it freezes. The console output was too large to include here, due to many
repeated sound buffer overrun errors, but most of it was the same as the last
one I posted. However, I did see this in the output; I don't know if it's relevant:
err:seh:setup_exception stack overflow 48 bytes in thread 0009 eip 008a197d esp
00240fd0 stack 0x241000-0x350000
I would be glad to help debug this, as I'd really like to not have to boot into
Windows to play SimCity. :)

Addendum:
When you fill the clipboard inside of Dreamweaver, which means in the design
view or the source code view, pasting works fine into the particular other view.
In other words:
Inside DW pasting works.
When you fill the clipboard inside any other application and paste it into the
design view, in some case the first letter - only that - appears as pasted content.
Meanwhile I updated to WINE 0.9.35.
All effects persist.
Did anybody of you tried to install DW under Crossover and can reproduce the effect?

The internal screenshot function fails to work, it's not really important since
you wouldn't notice it in the normal course of play. But I figured it was a bug
anyway.
In the output generated from loading it up, playing from a save, taking a few
screenshots and then closing the game. That seems to be the relevant bit, but
I've included the entire output.

I don't want to come off sounding like an idiot, but I'm not sure what you
mean by running a +font +relay session.
Oh, and I found the most consistent way to get this bug to show up is to
switch to the font tool, select the font in question (as you noticed, the
fonts should not show up) and then switch to another font. Every time I've
tried that, the program has died with an error (the same one I attached at the
beginning, in fact).

I tried copying ImpactLTStd.otf to c:/windows/fonts
and using that font in the Photoshop 6 Tryout text tool,
and though it doesn't crash, neither does Photoshop 6 display them
properly. It did advance to the next line when I hit
enter, but no pixels were darkened.
I'll attach the +font log. The following section
has a suspicious "Can't find table" warning:
trace:font:OpenFontFile
"/home/dank/.wine/dosdevices/c:/windows/fonts/ImpactLTStd.otf", 0, 0 x 100
trace:font:WineEngGetFontData font=0x21553f0, table=584d4456, offset=00000000,

Kelly, can you attach a +font,+relay log (probably compressed)
of the shortest session you can think of that exhibits the crash?
Thanks...

The relay output file for Galactic Civilizations II is 400MB just to get to the
initial menu so I used:
grep -B20 -C20 "Number of Planets" relay.log
to grab 20 lines either side of each occurrence of this piece of known text in
the game.
