What about xcopy, it uses unicode - in russian locale I can see junk only (despite of xcopy has only English transations). If I say $ LC_ALL=C wineconsole --backend=user cmd > xcopy /? I noticed when I hit the preview button, your video was automatically played, whereas mine didn't. I'm running Slackware btw. I guess I can try it out on Ubuntu as well.
