Summary: configure didn't work on AMD64
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.39.
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: blocker
Priority: P2
Component: test
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jimah45abmw(a)hotmail.com
I downloaded the source of wine-0.9.39.tar.bz2. Did the "./configure" but it
returned an error. I could do it by "linux32 ./configure", and also did
"./configure" in an i386 OS.
My system:
Linux Kernel: 2.6.20-16-generic
GCC Version: 4.1.2 (x86_64-linux-gnu)
OS: Ubuntu 7.04 feisty AMD64
By the way, I downloaded "wine_0.9.37~winehq0~ubuntu~7.04-1_amd64.deb", and
installed well. But it didn't have language support, I needed to compile it from
source in order to have language localization.

Still present in wine 0.9.39. What is needed besides the regression test to
resolve this?

I can confirm this bug. I just now downloaded and tested with 0.9.39:
wine: Call from 0x7ee3e200 to unimplemented function hal.dll.HalGetBusData, aborting
wine: Unimplemented function hal.dll.HalGetBusData called at address 0x7ee3e200
(thread 000f), starting debugger...
Unhandled exception: unimplemented function hal.dll.HalGetBusData called in
32-bit code (0x7ee3e278).
I can also confirm Verbeet's workaround does work. After setting the Win
version to 98, I can play the first five or six demos. After that, my screen
goes black, but I have a lot of testing to do before I can say it's a Wine bug
(I suspect Beryl, because X completely restarted on me on one try).

Now that quicktime works, I tried installing iTunes to test bug 8705. The
installation completed without too many problems (see 8705 for those). After
installation, iTunes fails to run, however. Here is the full terminal output
(sorry for not attaching, but it's only 9 lines).

Log of installation
The installer completed under wine 0.9.39. Some caveats though:
It did black out the screen while installing.
Upon completing the installation, it was still outputting to terminal this
loop:
fixme:setupapi:CMP_WaitNoPendingInstallEvents 0
fixme:setupapi:CMP_WaitNoPendingInstallEvents 0
fixme:setupapi:SetupDiGetClassDevsW returning empty list
fixme:setupapi:SetupDiEnumDeviceInterfaces 0x810918, (nil),

fixme:setupapi:CMP_WaitNoPendingInstallEvents 0
fixme:setupapi:CMP_WaitNoPendingInstallEvents 0
Until cancelled with 'wineserver -k'. (I ran it for around 45 minutes while
running errands).
This is the complete log. I'll file a seperate bug for it failing to run.
