Summary: Call Of Duty: Installation not completed
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.41.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-shell32
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: amlopezalonso(a)gmail.com
I know this is an old issue but Call of Duty cannot be properly installed
since the Loki installer is not available anymore, so I tried to do it
the "Wine way". The old problem regarding cd change is fixed using the "wine
eject" command. But when the installer asks for the first cd at the end of the
installation, it complains about an I/O error probably due to a corrupted
file. During the process Wine goes (eight times):
fixme:shell:IShellLinkA_fnGetPath (0x183198): WIN32_FIND_DATA is not yet
filled.
fixme:shell:DllCanUnloadNow stub
After aborting the installation, multiplayer game runs fine but the single
player game crashes since the very beginning.

This is what my initial fix was doing, but it breaks lighthing_uk's test case.

test case and patch
Now we are failing the test in the attached patch. It looks like selecting the
correct A/W function works only for builtin winprocs. The patch contains also a
fix that fixes this as well as bug #8974 but I'm not sure if it is correct.

Try this:
$ mv .wine .wine-backup
$ wget http://www.kegel.com/wine/winetricks
$ sh winetricks vcrun6
$ wine yourapp.exe &> ~/log2.txt
See if that helps. If it does and/or the second log is different, upload it here.

Can you please attach the entire terminal output? If it's too large, compress it
first.
$ wine yourapp.exe &> ~/log.txt
Then upload ~/log.txt here.

The program is called EGU.
I started the program (wine EGU.exe) and then the error occurred.
At the end of the error log, the program hangs up with the message
"err:advapi:service_get_status service protocol error - failed to read pipe r =
0 count = 0!"
I have this advapi servic protocol error message by many programs like this:
