The key Return does not work well in the Hulk demo. It is very bad, since the
menu asks to confirm the choose by pressing the key return.
But the key Escape seems to work.
I attached the console output.

Ventrilo has its own set of problems running ALSA that prevent me from just
using it. (Sound input stops working, etc) Anyway I am unable to use OSS with
anything later than 0.9.46. When I try and use 0.9.47 and later the following
problem occurs with Ventrilo:
If the sound output device is the same as the sound input device, I hear
nohting. However, if I change the sound output device to my second sound card
then I can hear things. This works in both directions, but if input and output
are set to the same card, then nothing is heard.

When the latest wine went stable 0.9.49 (also tried .9.50, .9.51) I upgraded,
along with the 2.3.0 WoW update.
I had had a problem long ago where going indoors would cause characters
(persons (i.e. not letters)) would turn bright white (with no textures), also
some objects would lose all textures. This problem was once dismissed by
"ensuring" X that I had enough Vram ("VideoRam 128000" in my xorg.conf).
With the most recent update of WoW (I even tried downgrading wine) the problem
has resurfaced. I have added these ram options in user.reg:
[Software\\Wine\\OpenGL] 1197730869
"DisabledExtensions"="GL_ARB_vertex_buffer_object"
"VideoMemorySize"="200"
[Software\\Wine\\Direct3D] 1197775965
"PixelShaderMode"="enabled"
"VertexShaderMode"="hardware"
"VideoMemorySize"="200"
Dxdiag.exe also seems to report the correct amount of Vram.
Thanks
-Ian
Note: This is happening in both the opengl and directx modes, and only on my
laptop (VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/GMS,
943/940GML Express Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03)).

crash dum of wine during xop installation
I'm trying to run the XOP program[0] under wine in linux since the linux
version of XOP does not work on any recent distribution I'm aware of.
The executable I've tried can be downloaded from the xop website[1] (file name:

At the end of the installation I get a wine crash dump that I've attached.
Please tell me if you need more debug info.
The program does requires the MFC42.DLL file to be run. After downloading it
and putting it in the XOP directory I have been able to run the software but it
gives an error that it can't find a file.
FYI, the program run fine on windows xp.

Terminal output with WINEDEBUG=warn+all
After the fix to create the directory "c:\windows\winsxs\manifests" included in
wine 0.9.44, the problems remaining in bug #9192 were related only just to the
failure to execute the file vcredist_x86.exe during the installation of Enemy
Territory Quake Wars Beta 2.
The installation popups an error window about "cannot execute
C:\\windows\temp\vcredist_x86.exe". That file exists but it was extracted into
the subfolder C:\\windows\temp\WZSE0.TMP\" instead of "C:\\windows\temp\" just
during the winzip self-extract. When the setup program tries to execute the
file vcredist_x86.exe, cannot find it in the correct path.
A workaround is to create a blind symbolic link in Linux BEFORE running the
installation program of Enemy Territory Quake Wars (ETQuakeWarsBeta2Setup.exe)
and after configuring wine to emulate XP:
cd ~/.wine/drive_c/windows/temp ; ln -s WZSE0.TMP/vcredist_x86.exe
This way vcredist_x86.exe is executed without errors during ETQWbeta2
installation, so that manual download and execution is not required anymore.
We need to find the difference with the Windows installation were, I suppose,
this error in the paths does not occur. Maybe, I guess, the current directory
(WZSE0.TMP) during the execution of setup.exe is assumed to be included in the
execution path.

the latest version is 0.10.2.
Obviously the one for 0.12 was intended for 0.10.2. I am not sure what version
was intended as 0.10.4. It seems there is no way to correct the version

I have windows version mingw32 (g++ (GCC) 3.4.2 (mingw-special) installed in
~/.wine/drive_c/mingw32. It looks like mingw tools like "reimp" can't launch
each other (path for c:\mingw32\bin is specified in registry). I.e. I can use
"wine mingw", "wine reimp", "wine dlltool", "wine as", but reimp can't find
dlltool, dlltool can't find "as" and they fail with messages like
"
reimp: dlltool: No such file or directory
bash-3.1$ g++ (GCC) 3.4.2 (mingw-special)
"
According to debug output (added as attachment), problem occurs in _spawnve
function, which doesn't search for ".exe" version of arguments. (not sure if it
should, but I believe that mingw worked fine with previous versions of wine).
wine was compiled from sources into packages, with default flags.

I'm using the WineHQ Debian packages on debian unstable.
U3 "smart" USB disks have a fake CDROM on them with some windows software for
managing portable apps. I wanted to run the program (U3 Uninstaller) that turns
that feature off. To download the uninstaller:
1. Visit http://www.u3.com/uninstall/default.aspx
2. Click "Remove Launchpad"
3. Click "Submit and Continue"
4. Click "Download the Uninstall App"
5. Save the file.
Running the executable from there gave me a window with almost nothing on it
(screenshot attached) and the below fixme/error log. The box in the upper left
closes the window.

In Windows, programs can use wmi object to gain information to certain statics
about the processor, and so on. Information from "/proc/cpuinfo" (in Linux) and
so on need to be used to mimic wmi object output that Windows uses. At the very
least, wine should give an output of 0's when wmi objects are retrieved, so
that the program doesn't crash.

This may be related to or masked by bug 2149 / bug 1798.
A user reported that his in-house app couldn't even
jam anything into the IP address control:
--- snip ---
I tried [Robert Reif's example app from comment 1 of bug 2149].
I also can type into it and can disable/enable it.
but my problem is more than that.
In my app, I can also type into ip address control box. but the thing
is what I typed is simply ignored.
I am not actually a C/C++ programmer. So I can read codes and modify
but it's not easy for me to start a new app by myself. So sorry I cant
give u a example.
but hope this helps:
as i need to set port and IP.
the port input box is simply a text input box. with the following codes,
my app can display 49152 and 1 respectively in my two ports input boxes
in WINE in Fedora 8.
/***********************************************************************
***********/
GetDlgItem(IDC_EDIT_MTX1_PORT)->SetWindowText("49152");//default value
49152 can be displayed in WINE
GetDlgItem(IDC_EDIT_MTX1_PORT)->EnableWindow(TRUE);//normal text input
box
GetDlgItem(IDC_EDIT_MTX2_PORT)->SetWindowText("1");//default value 1 can
be displayed in WINE
GetDlgItem(IDC_EDIT_MTX2_PORT)->EnableWindow(TRUE); //normal text input
box
/***********************************************************************
***********/
but the following codes:
/***********************************************************************
***********/
GetDlgItem(IDC_IPADDRESS_MTX1)->EnableWindow(TRUE);//ip address control
input box
GetDlgItem(IDC_IPADDRESS_MTX1)->SetWindowText("1.1.1.1");//default value
cant be displayed in WINE
GetDlgItem(IDC_IPADDRESS_MTX2)->EnableWindow(TRUE);//ip address control
input box
GetDlgItem(IDC_IPADDRESS_MTX2)->SetWindowText("2.2.2.2");//default value
cant be displayed in WINE
/***********************************************************************
***********/
My app does not show "1.1.1.1" or "2.2.2.2" in ip address control input
boxes in WINE.
And of course the codes work in windows.
In Wine, when the ip address control gets focus, I see
err:ipaddress:IPADDRESS_GetPartIndex We subclassed the wrong window!
(hwnd=0x2002a)
on the console.
--- snip ---
He can't provide a demo app, but perhaps the above info is enough
to track this down.

Summary: Europa Universalis 3 - Crash after intro
Product: WineHQ Apps Database
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P4
Component: appdb-unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: jonte.jonsson(a)gmail.com
Hello!
I'm having a problem running the game Europa Universalis III with Wine (I am
willing to spend a lot of time with this since EU3 is the last thing I need to
get working to get rid of Windows). I'm using Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy on a Philips
laptop with Core2 Duo processors, an ICH8 chipset and a Mobile GM965/GL960
Integrated Graphics Controller. I know that there have been discussion about
the compatibility of these Intel chipsets and Pixel Shader 2.0, but since the
game is working great on Vista, I see no reason why it couldn't with Ubuntu.
Please note that I am a very new to Linux, so I'm sorry if there is something
obvious I've overlooked. I have tried to backtrace my steps with as much detail
and as many logs as possible below:
I got the latest version of Wine, 0.9.54. EU3 is sold for downloading through
www.gamersgate.com, and I still have the installation files from the download
left, so to install the game, I opened the original setup.exe in Wine, to
install on my Virtual C drive. There didn't seem to be any error, the terminal
showed this during installation:
fixme:reg:GetNativeSystemInfo (0x34fea0) using GetSystemInfo()
fixme:process:IsWow64Process (0xffffffff 0x34fe9c) stub!
fixme:advapi:CheckTokenMembership ((nil) 0x12c7d0 0x34fe1c) stub!

fixme:shell:IPersistFile_fnGetCurFile (0x13b698)
fixme:shell:DllCanUnloadNow stub
fixme:shell:DllCanUnloadNow stub
fixme:shell:DllCanUnloadNow stub
I attempted to start it with 'wine eu3game.exe' and got this:
err:module:import_dll Library MSVCP60.dll (which is needed by L"C:\\Program
Files\\Paradox Interactive\\Europa Universalis III\\eu3game.exe") not found
err:module:LdrInitializeThunk Main exe initialization for L"C:\\Program
Files\\Paradox Interactive\\Europa Universalis III\\eu3game.exe" failed, status
c0000135
So I downloaded MSVCP60.dll, put it in .wine/drive_c/windows/system32, added it
as an override DLL in winecfg and made a new attempt, this time with
winelauncher. I get the intro movies (there are two of them, launched before
the game starts) and everything looks great, sounds work, but then it just
crashes before the game starts. The error log is attached as eu3log. I also
tried with debug on, the full log is attached as eu3logfull.
Checking for patches, I found a 1.03 patch for the game which I installed with
wine. While this seemed to work, I got a lot of errors, as in attachment
eu3patchlog. On launching eu3game.exe with wine again though, the exact same
error messages as before shows up after the intro, and nothing else.
Finding the game in the appdb, I saw that a user had managed to get the game
working taking the following steps:
* Using native versions of MSVCP60.DLL and D3DXOF.DLL (needs to be set to
native,builtin in winecfg/user.reg)
* Adding "VideoMemorySize"="128" and "UseGLSL"="enabled" to the
~/.wine/user.reg file
(* Setting "OffscreenRenderingMode"="fbo" and "DirectDrawRenderer"="opengl" for
improved Performance
* Setting OSS as only sound driver)
* Starting wine from the game directory or using winefile
* In the GameDirectory/settings.txt set fullScreen=no
I followed these steps (the ones between parentheseses was attempted but found
unsuccesful, and thus removed). The results are the same, I made a new pair of
logs though for someone with more technical knowledge to evaluate if this had
any effect. These are attached as eu3log2 and eu3logfull2.
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me, or any direction as to what
seems to be the problem.

I really need to be able to read the numerical quality setting etc. Is there a

On Windows, foobar2000 will detect that you have more than one CPU, and when it
does things like converting, replaygain scanning etc. it will run one thread
for each CPU (ie. decode two tracks at once for dual core). When running in
Wine, foobar2000 seems to think there is only one CPU even when there are more
so it only ever runs one thread.

The mouse pointer does not behave normally on the menu, it appears to be
severely under responsive and if you move the mouse too fast it does not appear
to move at all.
Moving the mouse slowly will make the mouse pointer creep in slightly in the
direction you move, but only after trying (my patience ;) very hard.
Also tested with a dll override dinput.dll (Windows 2003), which makes the
pointer usable but over responsive. It does go where you ask it but you have
to fight with it to make sure it doesn't go too far.
I've attached the output from WINEDEBUG=dinput wine FlankerDemo.exe

the complex shaders entirely. But with 0.9.52 it will be impossible to play.

When playing the game "Project IGI" the mouse will only rotate for a while (180
degrees I think) before stopping, then you have to rotate back the other
direction to workaround this.
This makes the game unplayable in my opinion, since it's pointless to try and
workaround this while being shot at.
There doesn't appear to be anything relevant to this in the console output.

Severity: normal

AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: hein(a)kde.org
"Aliens vs. Predator 2" is a first person shooter developed by Monolith
Productions using the LithTech Talon game engine. While the game runs and looks
fine, erratic mouse movement renders it unplayable: When the mouse is moved at
normal speeds to change the view angle, it seems to immediately move back or
recenter itself, making it impossible to look around in a controlled fashion.
Only when the mouse is moved very, very slowly it is possible to turn around
without that "back-snapping" effect. As soon as the speed surpasses a certain
(low) threshold, mouse movement stops being usable.
The tested version of the game is the latest patch level, v1.0.9.6.
The version of Wine tested is v0.9.50. The Wine configuration is fairly
untouched. The Windows version is set to Windows XP. Pixel and vertex shader
support is enabled, and the offscreen rendering mode is set to fbo. The sound
driver is ALSA. No DLL overrides were added.
Testing was undertaken using nVidia's proprietary graphics driver in version
160.04 on a GeForce 8800 GTX, with X.org v7.3 (xorg-server v1.4.0.90) and Linux
v2.6.23.10. The mouse is a Logitech MX1000 using the xf86-input-evdev driver in
version 1.1.5. The distribution is Gentoo Linux.

Hi folks.
I am trying to use a windows Sw in wine. It appears to work correctly but in
the connection setup window I cannot fill the correct IP.
The fields came with 255.255.255.255 pre-filled, but in wine
shows "25!.25!.25!.25!".
When I try to change the IP only 2 digits are allowed to be keyed before a
change to next field. Example: desired IP :"192.168.001.033" .
After typing the SW shows: "19.16.00.93" . I tried may forms to key (delete,
backspace) but still cannot enter the right IP.
Below there are links to 2 screenshots (main window and connection setup
window), the SW executable and source code (I think). I am not the SW creator
just a user.

I started installing Call of Duty via 2 CDs. I could change Disk 1 to Disk 2
using wine eject. When the progress bar is at 100%, it asks again to change the
CD back to Disk 1. Using wine eject again, and changing the CD back, it shows
an I/O error message (throw the GUI):
An I/O error occurred while installing a file.
This is normally caused by bad installation
media or a corrupt installation file.
OBS.: The message is the same to that one in bug #3414

Console log for after video file has started playing
Picasa unable to videos correctly, even after codecs are installed. I got all
of the codecs and DLLs needed to play video clips through Picasa. The sound (of
1 sec of play) plays and loops continuously. And Picasa says that it is
playing, but it never stops playing the file.
Steps to reproduce:
1. Install Picasa
2. Put all codecs and DLLs that are needed to play the video clips.
3. Run Picasa from console
4. Make sure that Picasa is able to scan a folder that has .avi and or .mpg
files.
5. Give it 5 - 10 min to scan files
6. After files are scanned, and show up as indexed. Then, try to play the video
files.
7. Once file has started to play, check the system console for Fixme's.
What is expected to happen:
You'll see a lot of Quartz based Fixmes.
What should happen:
The video should play correctly and should play sound correctly.

Summary: Windows canvas aren't drawn when enabling 3D desktop
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.46.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-gui
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ema.oriani(a)gmail.com
Hello, I'd like to report this bug I'm experiencing.
Since Wine 0.9.45 (and now Wine 0.9.46) when I enable 3D desktop all the
applications' main windows (the application launched with Wine as eMule and
World Of Warcraft as example) don't have window canvas.
If I disable 3D desktop and then enable it again windows canvas are drawn.
I experienced this with Beryl and now with Compiz (latest Ubuntu main
repository version).
If I use normal desktop everything works fine.
Seems as if that windows are created with <no border> or similar flag.
Hope this would be useful,
Ema.
Ps. I can't run regression test on my system.
