Can't copy image from Photoshop 7 into Imageready 7.
(Though if you start Imageready from Photoshop while
you have a selection, it does transfer it for you...
along with a harmless but scary "illegal operation" dialog.
But that's another bug.)

Still happening as of 0.9.53 or so; when you

the paste menu item is greyed out.

The current code still use the command "lpr" to print a job and
this must be fixed first, before we switch from CP_ACP to CP_UNIXCP.

Sorry, I was wrong: this bug is still present in 0.9.53 (AND only when sound is
enabled). I'm afraid I'm not used to Wine development policy but shouldn't
Damjan's patch be included in some next mainstream version? Just for closing
this bug and proceed to the next one...

This bug is still present in 0.9.53 but now the game freezes since its very
start even when turning off audio so I guess Damjan's patch is working.
Damjan, should I close this bug and open a new one concerning DirectDraw as you
stated in your last comment?

Hack to make almost all keys from DE layout work in WoW
(In reply to comment #12)
> Thanks for finding the reason of the bug. Now we just need to figure out
> a proper fix for this. Do you know which vkey values WoW tries to convert
> to characters and that fail?
Something strange, today no keys are returning 0 for me, they are returning
0xffffff?? (which makes my first hack not usefull) and still don't work under
WoW.
Testing right now, with "setxkbmap de", listing the key face on my US keyboard,
what it produces with de DE layout, it's numeric virtual key, the virtual key
name and the result from MapVirtualKeyEx for the keys that don't work on WoW:
<-> ß 189 VK_OEM_MINUS 0xffffffe1
<=> ' 187 VK_OEM_PLUS 0xffffffc2
<[> ü 219 VK_OEM_4 0xffffffc3
<;> ö 186 VK_OEM_1 0xffffffc3
<'> ä 222 VK_OEM_7 0xffffffc3
(With this keyboard layout the <=> key also triggers the deadkey bug I
described before.)
The VKs are exactly the same produced by those same keys under the US keyboard
layout, under which this problem don't happens in WoW.
With "setxkbmap de -variant nodeadkeys" the <=> key works, producing a
different result:
<=> ' 224 VK_??? 0x27
This new hack makes all keys except from <'> from the DE layout work, and all
keys from de DE layout without dead keys, work, at least in my install.
(As a collateral effect the key shown on the keybindings list is the
corresponding key in the US keyboard, but it works.)

I tried wine-0.9.52-2.fc8 on Fedora. It behaves somewhat differently, but it
is still broken. The filled area now seems to take its colors from the
intended pattern. But the pattern is still incorrect. I will attach a sample.
I also noticed a further detail. If I add a second rectangle to be filled, the
contents of the first rectangle also changes a little. I'm not sure if this
happened before or not. The other differences in behavior may just have made
it more obvious.
There is a new version of Fractal Mapper, version 8, released by now. I'll try
to check if the problem happens for that one too.

Is this happening in ALSA, OSS, or Both? What flags are you using when running
Guild Wars?
I'm not experiencing any sound problems with my current setup. I'm currently
running Guild Wars with no flags, wine v0.9.53, OSS w/ Full Hardware
Acceleration, 22050 Sample Rate, 16 Bits Per Sample, and Driver Emulation
turned off.
However, I believe I did run across all sounds cutting on and off when I was
using ALSA...

Just use CP_UNIXCP where appropriate. There shouldn't be any show stoppers
to do it now. CP_UTF8 might be a not correct encoding if the system locale

Thanks for finding the reason of the bug. Now we just need to figure out
a proper fix for this. Do you know which vkey values WoW tries to convert

I had this bug and I'm running on a dual core processor (Intel Core 2 Duo E6600
using 32-bit Ubuntu).
WoW usually locked up with this bug in BGs when I was making a fast turn with
the camera or when the BG ended or other things suddenly happened.
The Schedtool suggestion fixed this bug completely for me, at least so far (2
days playing lots of BGs). And it has fixed WoW locking up when I went out to
desktop with Ctrl-Alt-D and tried to get back in WoW.
So thank you, Stephan Wienczny!

Hello,
this is not a regression. I already explained the cause here:
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10467#c20
Its an unfortunate combination of MSI service installer string deformat bug and
recent SCM changes (service startup management).
Just a warning ... only use 0.9.53 for testing this stuff.
Latest GITs are completely unsuited ... err better say unusable for this task
due to recent extended ntdll FPU context changes (nasty side effects including
the disability to debug *any* stuff).
Regards

Hack to make ß key work for bindings in WoW
Just confirmed that the bug exists when using the german keyboard layout and
found why.
World of Warcraft uses the result from MapVirtualKeyEx in MAPVK_VK_TO_CHAR mode
when binding an action to a key; if the result is 0 (or, apparently, if the
result is much larger than 255), it can't bind the key.
The attached patch is an ugly hack to make the ß key work.

I can just repeat: Wine relies on native dead keys support, that requires
XFilterEvent to be called in the event processing loop, that's not optional.
If section sign is marked as "dead" in the X11 keyboard layout Wine can do
nothing about it, you need to either change the keyboard layout, or edit/fix
an existing one.

I can't really say, I don't use the application that produced the error anymore
(it's a mmorpg and I don't pay for it anymore). But I just tried it with
another flash application (and wine 0.9.46) and it worked, so might as well

> applications, or just xev for testing?
No. Native application will receive KeyPress events for deadkeys and can opt to
process them - if they are just interested in keypresses, instead of text
input, they might even never call XFilterEvent. But applications running under
Wine right now will never receive the WM_KEYDOWN message for the deadkeys -
even if they want to process keypresses for deadkeys they can't right now.
This can be seen by doing a +key trace in wine and pressing any deadkey; you
will just get the KeyRelease event. At the same time, executing xev and
pressing a deadkey will register both KeyPress and KeyRelease events, with
"XFilterEvent returns: True" for the KeyPress event.
What is happening under Wine right now is also different from what happens
under Windows - there application will receive WM_KEYDOWN events for deadkeys,
and the problem with binding actions to deadkeys don't happen.
> Wine relies on native dead keys support on the X11 side, so your patch would
> simply break it.
I don't care about my patch, I just want a bug fixed. My patch is just a first
attempt to show what is wrong and a quick (and somewhat buggy) fix for it.
Besides, I'm not discarding X11 deadkey processing, I just moved it to inside
X11DRV_KeyEvent in dlls/winex11.drv/keyboard.c, where I store the deadkey
information to be used by ToUnicodeEx.
To properly handle deadkeys (i.e., send WM_KEYDOWN events for them and either
WM_DEADCHAR with the deadkey or WM_CHAR with the composed character when they
are processed by TranslateMessage), as far as I can tell, would require either
a change in how keyboard events are handled (to let TranslateMessage itself
call XFilterEvent on the original keypress event) or storing the result from
XFilterEvent somewhere to be used by TranslateMessage. My main difficulty to
handle this is that I don't know a reliable way to associate information with a
WM_KEYDOWN message inside Wine - that is why I created a keypress buffer
indexed by virtual key, which I believe is not the best solution to this
problem.

I can confirm that this bug is still in effect.
Some info:
wine-0.9.53
World of Warcraft Client Patch 2.3.2
Linux version 2.6.22-14-generic (buildd@terranova) (gcc version 4.1.3 20070929
(prerelease) (Ubuntu 4.1.2-16ubuntu2)) #1 SMP Tue Dec 18 08:02:57 UTC 2007
(Ubuntu 2.6.22-14.47-generic)
CPU0: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6400+ stepping 03
CPU1: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 6400+ stepping 03
I often see this problem in Battlegrounds and especially when I encounter
players from other servers. As I run WoW from the prompt I can easily alt-tab
and ctrl-c wine to restart it all (this often prevents me from being killed
btw, don't ask me why ;-)
Other cases are when zoning.
This suggests what's being discussed in #13 & #14 and textureloading thingies.
I've not yet tried the schedtool stuff (#16) as I don't know how to revert
those changes if it doesn't help :-) (suggestions?)
In <wow install dir>/Logs/ there are logfiles that displays what WoW actually
detects, these I can attach if needed.
Note: A start->login->exit wow yields a 2.3GB logfile when using
WINEDEBUG=+all.

hi,
i can confirm what reported by Kristian Buchardt. I have done the same test
compiling wine 0.9.53 (on debian etch with ati x1300). In server/process.c i
have changed the following line in function add_process_thread :
list_add_tail( &process->thread_list, &thread->proc_entry );
whith
list_add_head( &process->thread_list, &thread->proc_entry );
bnet is now playable. Instead of the freeze, i get the hiccup (like a little
lag, but the other players don't notice it)

Isn't that exactly the same behaviour as you would get using native X11
applications, or just xev for testing?

Wine relies on native dead keys support on the X11 side, so your patch would
simply break it.

Hack for Lineage II camera rotation: Do mouse warp only when RMB is pressed,
after a delay
Glad to hear it helped.
I made another, a bit more advanced version. It fixes the annoying problem (in
Lineage II), specifically, the mouse cursor jumping from where it was to the
screen center after any camera rotation. Enabling mouse warp only after a short
delay seems to solve this.

This problem Has been happing to me as well, but only since i upgraded to a AMD
2400+ X2 with 4 gigs of ram, I'm hoping that schedtool helps mask this problem.
Mostly wanted to add a "me too" and hope to get this bumped up the priority
list a bit. It seems to happen more frequently when I have a large number of
textures to load.In some cases I have had to log in on a different computer
under windows to move my character so i could finish loading the world.

That patch was committed a while back:

It adds a new folder button, but it just prints a fixme.
