That version of wine is over two years old. Please test in 0.9.52 as there is a

Please test with the latest version of wine (0.9.52) with a clean ~/.wine
If the problem persists, where can we get a copy of the software you have a
problem with?
Also, this is not critical, someone should downgrade the severity.

You're getting an error because the DPLobby object isn't found. This means that
if you are trying with native dlls, you're not using them correctly. Try
registering them using wine rgsvr32.

Downloaded demo from here: http://www.gamershell.com/download_3479.shtml
tested with wine-0.9.52, Ubuntu 7.10, nVidia FX 5200.
I experienced some weird problems, on 0.9.52 running in a 800x600 virtual

so I also tested with latest git which didn't seem to have that problem when
running with WINEDEBUG=+seh,+tid,+d3d,+d3d_surface (attached)

FishFillets2 starts fine up too with current git (though into nice blank

I double checked that reverting to older wine version brings back the bug
again, so it's really fixed, without having to do any work arounds.

IIRC most packers now work, but some of them cannot handle forward exports, so
they crash on opengl32.wgl<something> (which are forwards to gdi32 in wine)

I just tried Gamemaker 7 again, and it looks as if this is fixed.
Allthough I don't have a c:: -link in my dosdevices, nevertheless the app
starts up fine. There is a d:: and e:: -link, but even after removing that it
starts fine.
Anyone could give that Dreamfall-demo a try with current git? (Sorry , download
is really to huge for me)
I'm downloading FishFillets2 ATM and see if that one is fixed too.

00000001 == DRIVE_NO_ROOT_DIR which means that Wine is unable to
retrieve the drive type. My hypothesis is that TomTom HOME is looking
for a DRIVE_REMOVABLE type device which the attached hack should
confirm. Can you try it?

Hans, it is exactly as you found. Once the device is plugged in when TomTom
Home is running, it regularily tries to find it, but fails. The new drive (D:)
now appears in Winefile when I plug the TomTom in even without the dosdevices
link, thus it works so far.
At the beginning, it enumerates all volumes. Again GetDriveTypeW seems to be
important. Here the TomTom does not seem to be plugged in.

Not sure what GetDriveTypeW is supposed to do, but the retval for D: is clearly
different from the one for the two other internal drives... so why doesn't it
work yet? Both the type and the fact that it is a new drive should be
sufficient for identifying the TomTom. The full +relay trace is at
http://alex.seewald.at/files/log.relay.new.gz, perhaps it helps.

Summary: The Windows Game Conquer 2 does not work at all
Product: Wine
Version: unspecified
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: major
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: samuel_lee_1991(a)hotmail.com
When I double click play.exe (After assign this application to run by Wine
where play.exe is the application/ game starter in the game Conquer 2.0), a
grey box do appear. The process wine-pthread, (Uninterrupted process),
wineserver and winedbg had started shown in the System Monitor respectively.
However, seconds later, the grey box disappeared and there is nothing is shown
about the error nor I could do at all. The process wine-pthread and winedbg had
ended at almost the same time and the last process to end is wineserver. (This
process: wineserver ends seconds after the grey box disappear).

AFAIK, Wine still does not allow selecting which sequencer to use, but due to
the patch for this bug, I no longer require that functionality. Wine now
correctly selects the internal hardware synthesiser; there was a bug which was
fixed by the patch supplied here. However I am only using ALSA 1.0.14, not
earlier versions that don't have the SND_SEQ_PORT_TYPE_PORT constant. Maybe if
someone can test against ALSA 1.0.10 or earlier, we'd know if the build problem
still exists :)

why should this be not the problem here? reason? what then could it be?
logs and retvals say it.
ok, searching for wine traces where CoCreateInstance succeds after
CoInitializeEx, found none so far (attachment are not globally searchable), all
other bugs in search "apartment not initialised" results look like similar
reason.
ok, will attach further logs with some linking(?) to my postings (this is a
metabug).
cant find a edit function here.

Please stop pasting logs.
CoCreateInstance/CoInitialize is not the problem here. It probably worked for
you a few years ago because you were using native dlls.

COM CoInitialize
Initializes the COM library on the current thread and identifies the
concurrency model as single-thread apartment (STA). Applications must
initialize the COM library before they can call COM library functions other
than CoGetMalloc and memory allocation functions.
New applications should call CoInitializeEx instead of CoInitialize.
CoInitializeEx (retval is 00000000, S_OK) or CoCreateInstance in Wine buggy.
Searching or filing new Wine COM bug and try to work around EECH by using the
old CoInitialize().

This is the interesting part from your relay log:
0042:Call user32.SetWindowsHookExW(00000004,0189c1b0,00000000,00000042)
0042:Ret user32.SetWindowsHookExW() retval=00040064

0042:Ret KERNEL32.FindFirstVolumeW() retval=ffffffff
0042:Call KERNEL32.FindVolumeClose(ffffffff)
0042:fixme:volume:FindVolumeClose (0xffffffff), stub!
0042:Ret KERNEL32.FindVolumeClose() retval=00000000
Meanwhile Alexandre has implemented the volume APIs, which promted me to
try TomTom HOME again. This is what it looks like now:
0011:Ret user32.SetWindowsHookExW() retval=00010036
0011:Call KERNEL32.FindFirstVolumeW(0034fa40,00000104)
0011:Ret KERNEL32.FindFirstVolumeW() retval=001557e0
0011:Call KERNEL32.GetDriveTypeW(0034fa40
L"\\\\?\\Volume{00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000043}\\")
0011:Ret KERNEL32.GetDriveTypeW() retval=00000000
0011:Call KERNEL32.FindNextVolumeW(001557e0,0034fa40,00000104)
0011:Ret KERNEL32.FindNextVolumeW() retval=00000001
0011:Call KERNEL32.GetDriveTypeW(0034fa40
L"\\\\?\\Volume{00000000-0000-0000-0000-00000000005a}\\")
0011:Ret KERNEL32.GetDriveTypeW() retval=00000000
0011:Call KERNEL32.FindNextVolumeW(001557e0,0034fa40,00000104)
0011:Ret KERNEL32.FindNextVolumeW() retval=00000000
0011:Call KERNEL32.FindVolumeClose(001557e0)
0011:Ret KERNEL32.FindVolumeClose() retval=00000001
So it finds volumes now and wants to know what type they are. That fails
because GetDriveType on a volume name is not implemented yet (I tried, it
works on Windows). The preceding SetWindowsHookEx call presumably serves
to monitor changes to the drives configuration.
Alexander, since you have one of these devices, can you try again
with current git and post the relevant snippet from a +relay log here?
