I would still be interested in this bug being fixed, or at least discovered. Because the last known working version was around 2000, this would take too long to do a regression test. Would WINE from 2000 even compile on a 2007 version of Ubuntu? Wouldn't the number of shell environment items have increased dramatically in the linux environment? If this is part of the problem then a regression test won't help because the base environment is a moving target. If you right click on the system tray, click tools, and then getright download target, you should be able to disable it. It wasn't enabled for me by default, but when I enabled it, it looked pretty good. It wasn't a 1x1 pixel, but the getright icon, with transparency behind the 'blank' pixels.
