This bug seems to be fixed partially only. Newer versions of SecuROM seems
still not working. Some applications like Homeworld 2 have dependencies on this
bug also. But large work is done and something is really fixed. New bugs should
probably contain SecuROM version information and logs from this bug.

Yes, this bug does appear to be fixed in the latest Wine release under ubuntu.
EMS PostgreSQL Manager seems to install and work just fine on my ubuntu
desktop.

Link is no longer active.
Is this still an issue in current (0.9.52 or newer) wine?

I added an entry to the wiki:
http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#head-d582e2a4e92f4d8ae6c3401daebd7d5621eb220f
If someone could verify those details (I just cut and pasted from the
wine-devel thread) that'd be great.
Nominating for 1.0.0. Something in winecfg to edit this would be a good idea.

Is this still an issue in current (0.9.52 or newer) wine? I tried to run these
programs, but they required a password. Didn't crash though...

Hans' patch is in git now, and the crash is fixed for FeedingFrenzy. If anyone
still runs into this crash (i guess not, but who knows) using the other apps
mentioned above, please reopen.
@Hans, thanks a lot again for fixing this long standing issue.

FWIW, running help on windows xp doesn't do anything. winhelp however, launches
windows help. help.exe in windows/system32 is the help file for cmd.exe.
Fixed/invalid?
