Created an attachment (id=9955)
--> (http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=9955)
workaround for DS2
Could you try this workaround? The behavior should be more like native
msvcrt.dll. There seems to be other errors that we should fix later (I
concentrate first on this one). Just try if it is the same behavior like the
native msvcrt.dll and put a report which works like that and which doesn't.
Because I don't know if I found all bad cases.
I will write a patch (not only a workaround like this) but this could take a
while.

Tested with wine-0.9.52 - CPU-Z 1.42
CPU-Z launches,
appears to work flawlessly if wine's winver is set to Windows 95, 98 or ME,
If set to any version of NT it gives a message "A previous version of the
device driver is already running." and all fields in the main application
window are blank.

Tested xforce 0.910 on wine-0.9.52
The game doesn't crash for me, the menu loads etc. It does have an issue with
finding HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DESCRIPTION\System SystemBiosDate but the
program exits normally, there is definitely no crash.
This bug looks fixed to me.

I can confirm that this is not a wine bug, this program crashes on windows 2003
if not run from the directory where the main executable resides.

Summary: Soldat Performance Issues

Platform: PC
URL: http://www.soldat.pl/links/mirrors.php?catid=5
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: enhancement
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: tehstealth(a)yahoo.com
The latest version of Soldat (1.4.2) runs very slow compared to older versions.
Different things are being spit out by the terminal, which I assume lead to
these problems:
$ wine 'C:/Soldat/Soldat.exe'
fixme:wave:ALSA_AddCaptureDevice Add support for DSCapture
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_GetAvailableTextureMem (0x1b1f78) : stub,
simulating 64MB for now, returning 64MB left
fixme:d3d:state_patchsegments (WINED3DRS_PATCHSEGMENTS,0.000000) not yet
implemented
err:d3d_draw:blt_to_drawable Blitting surfaces from sysmem not supported yet
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_ResourceReleased Vertex buffer released while
bound to a state block, stream 0
fixme:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_ResourceReleased Vertex buffer released while
bound to a state block, stream 0
Both the blitting surface (0.9.40ish) and that Vertex Buffer (only seen it with
0.9.43) are new to me.

yeah, so if anyone has the application lying around on his/her harddisk he can
reopen the bug. However, there won't be much fun testing the client, with the
poker-rooms being all closed.....

Starts fine for me as well, though it's a bit slow, but the bug is apparently
fixed. @Flavio: please reopen if you still run into trouble

I may have been incorrect in calling this a regression: it may be a bug
connected with the introduction of a new capability.
I have changed the URL of this bug report to point specifically to the download
address for Blitzin version 2.34
(http://www.chessclub.com/bits/interface/blitzin234.exe).

Tested in 0.9.52 - I can't see any screen redraw error, the only error wine
reports endlessly is:
fixme:cursor:CURSORICON_LoadFromFile No support for .ani cursors.
It seems this program loops endlessly trying to load a cursor. Since this is
not the original bug that was reported, perhaps this should be closed?

I've extensively tested Battlefield 1942 on wine 0.9.49, 0.9.50, and 0.9.52.
This bug does not occur on these releases, I think this bug can be marked as
fixed.

This game appears to work almost flawlessly on 0.9.52.
I think we can mark this as fixed.
I tested sitting at the main menu for a few minutes and also playing the game,
there are some very slight discoloration of 1-2 objects in the game. ie a
basketball turns a mix of white and yellow and there is a door in the game that
has a fluro haze to it.
If anyone else wishes to test this, be aware that the game does pause for about
30 seconds while loading and does not give any indication that anything is
happening, just have some patience.
