Summary: Grim Fandango random crashes during gameplay
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.45.
Platform: Other
URL: http://www.grimfandango.net/?page=demo
OS/Version: other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-x11driver
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: a.hurst(a)shef.ac.uk
When playing Grim Fandango, (which only works with X at 16bpp - see bug 9667)
the game crashes sporadically, even though some longs spells of gameplay are
possible.
The game may be completed in spite of this crashing if the savegame feature is
used paranoiacally !

I am using SUSE 10.1 64 bit. Using WINE 0.9.43 the application FRITZ 10 was
working fine except for the menu, but using 0.9.46 I am getting the error
mentioned in the attachment.
Thank you in advance,

testcase project and 2 test binaries
When I upgraded to Winboard version 4.2.7b from 4.2.7a, I got parse errors when
the app tried to extract info from an online chess server. I tracked this down
as far as I am able-- it appears to be only a definition in the makefile:
-mno-cygwin. How that causes the bug, I don't understand, but presumably the
only difference between Winboard 4.2.7b and 4.2.7a (which works in wine) is the
presence of that option in the makefile.
When -mno-cygwin is present, a call like:
n=sscanf("r-bqk -1 0", "%5c%d%d", str, &i, &j);
only gets the first character into str rather than all 5 like it should, and n
becomes 1 with i and j failing to get read.
Attached is a testcase project to illustrate. It includes 2 binaries, the only
difference being the presence of -mno-cygwin during the build. (Line 19 in the
makefile) To build this testcase, you need the cygwin tools, probably just
normal build tools, and to run wbtest.exe, you need cygwin1.dll which I haven't
included.
wbtest-nocyg.exe: works properly in wine and in windows
wbtest.exe: works properly in windows, but fails in wine

This game was submitted by a user into appdb. I tested it, and the only thing
it does, is bringing up the configuration screen over and over again. It never
makes it into the actual game. I'll post some d3d info later on.

This IS a bug, as far as I'm concerned. Building the amd64 package can't be any
harder than building the i386 package, especially when it uses the exact same
binaries.
The last time I looked at:
http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/archive/index.html
It was at least honest: It had a link to 0.9.44 for i386, and 0.9.43 for amd64.
Now, it does have a link to the nonexistant 0.9.44 package:
http://wine.budgetdedicated.com/archive/ubuntu/feisty/wine_0.9.44~winehq0~u…
which doesn't exist.
First I tried the repository, as described here:
http://winehq.org/site/download-deb
The most recent version available was 0.9.43. I then asked in the IRC channel,
where others confirmed that 0.9.44 was, in fact, out and in the repository.
That's what lead me to look it up for myself, and confirm that there is no
0.9.44 amd64 debian package, either in the archive or in the main repository,
or anywhere else I can find.
I know how to compile things from source, and I know how to force a 386 package
to install, but it's a hassle. It defeats one of the main reasons we use
package management: automatic updates.
I'm not sure exactly where to submit this. It's not a bug in wine itself, and
yet, it's not really a website bug. Then again, that IS a broken link there.

my nvidia-bug-report.log
I have just switched from an ATI 9700pro to a BFG 6600gt. Unfortunately, Medal
Of Honor: Allied Assault (MOHAA) will no longer run (the single player demo
shows the same problem). With my ATI board, it ran without a hitch in Wine.
After installing the latest Nvidia-glx drivers for Ubuntu Edgy, mohaa fails to
start. An empty grey screen is displayed, with the cursor visible. It seems
that it just can't start the game. ALL other Open-GL games run fine. Here are
my specs:
O/S: Ubuntu Edgy, i386 build
CPU: AMD 3000+ 64
RAM: 1GB DDR RAM
GPU: Nvidia BFG 6600GT
H/D: Seagate: Dedicated FAT32 partition
I have installed the nvidia-glx drivers via apt-get, as well as installed the
latest linux drivers (NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.19-pkg1.run). Both produce the
same result.
Here is the output:
$ wine MOHAADemo.exe -opengl
aarons@Aaron-desktop:/media/DSK1_VOL3/mohdemo$ fixme:win:WIN_CreateWindowEx
Parent is HWND_MESSAGE
wine: Unhandled page fault on read access to 0x5f564e5f at address 0x5f564e5f

Usage:
winedbg [ [ --gdb ] [ prog-name [ prog-args ] | <num> | file.mdmp |
--help ]
$
I have tried everything there is to try. I removed the card and replaced with
the old ATI and it runs. I used different versions of wine (up to 0.9.44) to no
effect. Either it is an NVIDIA bug or a Wine bug.

Summary: UltraVNC Viewer works fine at first but becomes always
unresponsive after ~10 minutes
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.49.

Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-gui
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: unggnu(a)googlemail.com
I use UltraVNC because with it and SingleClickVNC it is easy possible to
support people without installation, with only one file and encryption in
listen mode.
It works fine at first but always after around 10 minutes UltraVNC becomes
unresponsive. Systray icon blends out for some time If I click on it and I can
only see new viewer updates around my mouse.
If I start it in console I get many "err:region:CombineRgn Invalid rgn=(nil)"
messages after this happens.
This only seems to happen if window is in use with mouse clicks and so on.
If this happens I have to close UltraVNC Viewer which is possible after some
waiting but the problem is that the listen mode port is in use for around 30
seconds or more so I have to wait until restart. Should I make another bug
report for this issue or is this a Linux problem?
So every time this happens the customer have to wait around a minute until I
can support him again and this every ten minutes.
This happens with every UltraVNC version I have used until now in Wine.
(1.0,1.2 and 1.4 rc5).
It has nothing to do with listen mode since it happens with UltraVNC Viewer and
a local Xvnc-Session too. Important is to use the session otherwise it wouldn't
happen at least not so fast.
I am using Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon 7.10 with winehq repository.
