Hi, have been unable to get my UK version of Roller Coaster Tycoon to work due
to SecuROM problems.
I've tried to be as thorough as possible!
Installation from setup.exe went fine, no problems at all.
Searched regedit -> find "Atari"
Exporting reg file of branch:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{907B4640-266B-4A21-92FB-CD1A86CD0F63}]

"LogFile"="c:\\Program Files\\InstallShield Installation

"Version"=dword:01000000
"WRONG_DISC"="Please insert the RollerCoaster Tycoon 3 disc"
So... we can see it's the European version (update 2) - note that only the USA
version allows update 3 to be installed (unless you hack the registry entry for
Territory to read "USA" - NOT done this time but tried with previous
installation and got odd results...).
Determining protection version:
http://www.cdmediaworld.com/hardware/cdrom/cd_utils_2.shtml
Protection ID v6.0 Xmas Beta (24-12-2007)
Scanning -> C:\Program Files\Atari\RollerCoaster Tycoon 3\RCT3.exe
File Type : Exe, Size : 12939264 (0C57000h) Byte(s)
[!] SecuROM Detected - Version 5.03.13
- Scan Took : 1.452 Seconds
So... we can see it's SecuROM 5.03.13. A visit to
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SecuROM informs us that 'Unlike SecuROM v4.6,
which relied on illegal SubQ-Information, the new scheme utilises "data density
measurement"'... er... whatever that is...
Now we come to running the game:
[rob@alias /]$ cd "/home/rob/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Atari/RollerCoaster
Tycoon 3"
[rob@alias RollerCoaster Tycoon 3]$ wine RCT3.exe
fixme:spoolsv:serv_main (0 (nil))

Then SecuROM scans the disc for a short time (say 30 seconds) and produces a
window with the following error message:
Roller Coaster Tycoon (R) 3
Please insert the original disc instead of a backup. See
www.securom.com/copy for more details
I have tried this on a standard DVD-ROM drive and a dual layer DVD-RW with the
same result.
The distribution is Fedora Core 8 Werewolf. The version of WINE is Wine-git
0.9.53, up to date as of 23/01/2008, with the following patches applied before
configuring using ./configure CC=gcc34 (so as not to break SecuROM, heh, in
theory anyway!):
PATCH FOR SECUROM
http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7065
Tried compiling with this patch, copied crypt32.dll to aclayers.dll in system32
folder. No difference. Also added override for aclayers (native then builtin)
using winecfg - no difference.

Chat is underline in the chat window
"Fonts in chat
by Peter Ajamian on Tuesday January 15th 2008, 4:29
Anyone else notice that the fonts are all underlined now in the chat windows?
This happened when I upgraded to 0.9.53 so I think it's a regression bug. I'll
do more testing when I get the chance and file a bug report."
"RE: fonts in chat

I am still using 0.9.52, which is the most recent version available in the
fedora repositories. The chat window fonts are NOT underlined for me.
Otherwise, I am running a fully patched fedora 8 (gnome) system and the stars
client version of 2.406.
The interesting change that I have seen recently is that some windows are
created in the "always on top" mode. This is a fairly minor irritation."
"RE: fonts in chat

Yes it appeared in 0.9.53 and also in the cvs/git versions.
It does not occur with 0.9.52."

The one from post #17 is fixed in the git.
There are 8 mangled names left which aren't resolved properly in this game yet.
They are from the same scheme so I post only two of them:
?s_FunctionSpec@?4??RCMarkForMondoDeletionPacker@GoDbImpl@@QAEXUconst_mem_ptr@@@Z@4PBUFunctionSpec@FuBi@@B
and
??_B?4??RCMarkForMondoDeletionPacker@GoDbImpl@@QAEXUconst_mem_ptr@@@Z@54
The animation issue should be fixed by the patches in git. At least they work
for me.

got ß to work on the DE layout
This new patch solves the unbindable key bug for all keys on at least the DE
and FI nodeadkey layouts, except for the keypad dot when numlock is pressed
(it's a different bug). It should also work for other layouts that produce keys
outside the ASCII range.

I don't have much choice. I have never programmed for Windows (and I don't have
access to a Windows install with development tools), so my best references are
Wine code (and comments) and whatever turns up on Google. Getting specifics
about how certain functions work is really hard, specially for problems that
don't happen with the US locale (such as this one).

most of the decent fixes for the undecoration in the workaround are now
properly handled in git. please retest with current git to update the status

Confirmed, affects both Fallout 1&2, definite regression.
Since the ddraw rewrite caused this, perhaps it should be assigned to one of
the ddraw people. Perhaps also a possible 1.0 candidate?
