I get a crashdump when I click on Preferences -> File Transfers (NULL ptr
dereference in a Window procedure).
I wonder if Window Procedures are wrapped by exception handlers in
Windows..hmm.

Hello:
Thanks for your mail.
I tried the program in wine 5.2 but it still shows the problem,
ie blank menu items after clicking them.
Thanks,
Istvan

Via e-mail:
Hello:
Thanks for your note.
I could install the program with wine 0.9.52.
The former error message related to DirectX 5.2 has not shown
up during installation and the install process ran smoothly.
I can run the program and open files, the menus look right.
Also, I have to correct myself: the program is "CD Architect
Plug-in for Sound Forge XP, version 4.0e", and the install file
installs both this plugin and Sound Forge XP 4.0e.
Thanks for fixing this issue.
IG
Istvan, in the future, please reply in bugzilla, not by e-mail.
Resolving fixed.

I have taken a look at it.
It seems that reception of packets from the other end stops after a few packets
back and forth. Just before the packets are sent allot of encryption is going
on in the encryption libs.
I think this encryption is the root cause of the problem. I think the data that
gets to the other end are not encypted correctly, and causes the other end to
halt traffic (just a theory).
I have compared the network trace with a trace running in WinXP,
which clearly shows that it is the other end that stalls, and not us.
(we never get response from the last packet we send - probably because it does
not like the contents).
I have attached a trace of the problem.
(only winsock & crypt).
If someone wants to have a go at it the program can be DLed here (demo):
http://www.schwabat.com/Platforms/streetsmart_pro/Overview.aspx
I have CC'ed Juan Lang as he seems to be the master when it comes to
encryption.
(I hope he does not mind).

It's a simple patch.
So you have to download the source as described in "Setup Info" on this HP:
http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting
After that you have to patch the source as described in "Patching Your Git
Tree" on the same HP:
http://wiki.winehq.org/RegressionTesting
If you haven't got any idear what to do, use the native msvrct.dll and play
until wine ist fixed and hope that all is gone right ;-)

is this still the case with 0.9.52 or newer?
We need more information if we should reproduce it ourselves, is there a DEMO
download URL or so?
