Hi Alexandre,
In January 2008, Steven Edwards wondered[1] if you would let Wine import
"msconfig" (the System Configuration Utility) from ROS. Would you allow it?

You need (amongst others) to modify /etc/hosts to play multiplayer with
DirectPlay. You need to set your hostname to your local ip adress instead of
the loopback address. You should come up with a good solution to this that
doesn't require people changing their /etc/hosts file. It should work
"out-of-the-box". Please!

Hi,
This bug relates to ShutterFly SmartUpload 2.2 under wine.
Quick description of SHutterFly :
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=application&iId=5595
The major problem is that all the images and icons are corrupted. It
looks that apart from that, the application is usable, but clicking blind on
icons is not very productive.
The first attachement is how the intro window looks like. The corruption
is quite obvious. The middle icon leads to the main upload window, the
screenshot in the second attachement also shows the corruption.
The third attachement is the start of log of running the app.
I got exactly the same results with 0.9.42 and 0.9.44.
The ShutterFly app is free, send me an e-mail and I'll send you a copy
(3MB).
Thanks...
Jean

In SigmaPlot 9, 10 and 11, the y-axis label is rotated 180 degrees and shifted
to the lower left of where is should be. This problem is not related to bug:
14527 90º rotated text not shown, as the problem still persists in the
current wine version 1.1.2. This problem has been present for the past 3-years
at least.
A demo version of the program can be found at
http://www.systat.com/downloads/?sec=d008
The demo version of SigmaPlot 11 will all install. I had the best success with
win version set to Win 98. However, in order to get the program to run, you
need to install DCOM98 and then the program functions properly. At this point
problems with ole errors are eliminated but the DEMO version will not work do
to a problem with the temporary license. To get around this you need to copy
the SigmaPlot folder (demo version) from a windows machine (huge pain I know)
and then everything works.

PokerTracker (trial version available at www.pokertracker.com) hangs on
start-up. The application used to work with wine but stopped when a new
version (of PokerTracker) began displaying a fancy transparency-using splash
screen. Now, the splash screen itself just shows up as a grey box and the
program hangs there indefinitely using the whole CPU.
A 30 second or so trace (WINEDEBUG=+all) clocks in at around 100MB.
Presumably, it's stuck in a loop anyway, so I'll attach the last 1000 lines or
so. Let me know if I can post anything that will be more helpful.

1) Open a jpeg image
2) Create a new layer
(This forces Photoshop to default to saving as a PSD. You should be able to do
anything that can't be saved as a jpeg instead of creating a new layer instead)
3) File-->Save As...
4) Use the pulldown tab to select JPEG.
5) Click the Filename field.
6) Hit Home to unselect ".jpeg"
7) Type a filename
8) Hit enter to save the file.
At this point, Photoshop saves your file with the name ".jpg" (it starts with a
., so it's hidden, but it's there. You'll notice is more the second time you
try it in the same folder, and Photoshop asks you if you want to overwrite the
file named ".jpg"
Workaround:
If you stop at step 7, click the filename field and hit Home again, then hit
enter, Photoshop will save your image with the correct filename.

With Wine 0.9.50, font sizes were consistent. (The installer failed with Wine

First, in the Family tab, observe "Marriage" has obviously inconsistent font
sizing.
Second, create a new person, named "Fred Flintstone" and observe his name
showing with inconsistent font sizing in both the Family and Pedigree tabs.
Third, import the GEDCOM file I am about to attach. Observe Fred's name in the

I'm using an ERP client that works quite well with Wine 0.9.46.
After that version something is changed and background windows does not
correctly redraws when you close the top one.
The app uses MDI windows, so all child windows are in the main frame window
context. If you close a top level child window the back one does not redraw
itself.
It seems that invalidate regions are changed after the 0.9.46 version(an
optimization?), resulting in a wrong paint area.
Thanks,

Shouldn't this option be disabled when Wine is set to use a virtual desktop?
Since all Wine apps are going to be inside the desktop, Wine already does all
the window decoration. The window decoration option should probably be grayed
out if the "Emulate a virtual desktop" option is enabled.

Whiteness in Sim City 4 Deluxe city view
Sim City 4 installs and runs in software rendering mode but has severe
graphical glitches in hardware rendering mode. In hardware mode fog/smoke is
rendered in a blocky manner and the entire terrain is white so it is very
difficult to distinguish anything. In addition, rendering performance is very
slow in hardware mode. In software mode the game is very responsive. I have
encountered this problem in release candidates 1-4. I was unable to install it
at all using one of the 9.5x versions so overall there has been improvement.
I have attached a screenshot of the city view which is most affected by the
glitch. The cityscape is supposed to be mostly green and brown. Region view has
blocky fog but no whiteness.

AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: scott(a)open-vote.org
>From Launchpad: https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/wine/+bug/208853
I have installed Source Insight, v3.50.0058 (http://www.sourceinsight.com),
under Wine (0.9.58-0ubuntu2) under Hardy Beta.
Source Insight is a code editor and browser. You can install a time-limited
copy if you want.
Anyway, having used this under Wine under Ubuntu for 18 months, with only a
couple of niggly problems, I decided to upgrade (by doing a wipe + fresh
install) to Hardy Beta. Since then, Source Insight has exhibited major
problems.
These all centre around NOT refreshing the screen after things happen:
(1) Opening a new source-file window and moving it. Also resizing an existing
window.
(2) Minimising and then maximising the Source Insight window itself.
In both cases, the screen inside the Source Insight window does not refresh.
Moving the window around the screen does nothing (except get a nice swirly
pattern of a repeating window title-bar inside the window itself.
The only way I have found to cure the problem and make the window refresh
itself is to switch to the second workspace, wait a few seconds (until the
window with the "Go to left workspace ..." pops up) and then switch back. THEN
the window refreshes. Sometimes. If it does not, switch to the other workspace
again and wait longer before switching back.
This is on a Dell D620 with an nVidia "G72M [Quadro NVS 110M/GeForce Go 7300]"
and a second Dell 2007FP display attached. I'm running the graphics in TwinView
mode (which means a manually configured xorg.conf, attached [see launchpad]).
Going to System -> Preferences -> Appearance -> Visual Effects shows that
"None" is currently active.
---
The problem seems a LOT worse when running with the two displays and with the
Source Insight window on the second (non-laptop) display.
When running in single-display mode (i.e. at home instead of work), the "new
source file window" problem does not seem to occur so much. The
"minimising/maximising" problem occurs all the time, whatever the display being
used.
---
I believe the last version this worked with for this user was 0.9.46 (the one
that came with Ubuntu Gutsy).

Gzipped output of WINEDEBUG=trace+relay wine Steam.exe
Running Steam results in strange behaviour on Solaris and OpenSolaris.
When Steam is first installed (using either the current MSI installer or an
older standalone installer), it successfully updates itself and automatically
restarts.
,
On restart, it spews extensive messages to the console about connection
attempts to all 100+ CSDS servers with latency.
For example, the last couple of lines are:
CellID: Connecting to 87.248.209.212:27031. . .
CellID: Connect to 87.248.209.212:27031 took 110 MS
CellID: !! Got Cell ID 2 from server 69.28.153.90:27031
It then makes no further progress and appears to hang. If interrupted with
Ctrl-C, it displays a "SteamStartup() failed" messagebox before exiting.
When started again, Steam.exe prints set of "CellID:" messages showing that is
is connecting to a particular server, then blocks for at least a minute, then
connects to a different server. This goes on indefinitely.
I'm attaching a WINEDEBUG=trace+relay log (to reduce log size, this Steam
instance was interrupted after about 30 seconds). I can't do
WINEDEBUG=trace+all because it results in an error message from Steam about
being unable to load SteamUI.dll.
This seems to be a network related issue, but I'm not entirely certain.

To register, you have to do Help / Register, type in your key, and click

Sure enough, clicking that button seems to do nothing.
Annoyingly, the app's main menu was detached when I ran it, and
the floating main menu was behind all the windows. So if you
can't find the Help menu, try closing the app's inner windows.

I have some mysterious lag when working with foobar2000 version 0.9.4.4
When having windows (opened by foobar2k itself) open, like the file property
dialogue, or a file scan result window and I close this particular window
SOMETIMES (not always) I have some serious lag. Which means I click the
X-button, and at first nothing happens.
Now I can do different things:
1) Sometimes moving the mouse around triggers window closing
2) Sometimes dragging the still open window around triggers closing
3) Pushing the X a second time sometimes does the trick
I didn't notice this with wine-0.9.56, so it seems to be a regression. I'm
still trying to figure out some actions to always reproduce the problem, but
currently I'm not successful.
This problem is not bound to CPU usage. It also appears when the CPU is idling
at 99%.
Gonna try a bisect, but as I know no way to accurately reproduce it...
Someone with similar problems? Maybe not only fb2k?
Thanks,
Tobias

where '_Search' is used to call a dialog window, and if the user press ALT + S
keys, then Windows (since version 3.1 I think) opens directly the related

because ALT + S select only the menu.

I installed corefonts, gecko, msxml3, vcrun2005 and tahoma, and it installs
correctly with winxp wine version.
When I try to run it, it sends a window with the infamous "Runtime Error!

runtime library incorrectly", and it drops an error about :actctx: and
MSVCR80.dll on the console.
I seem to have the correct manifest files on the winsxs directory, and I think
all the needed dll's are in place.
I do NOT have a manifest for a ~/.wine/drive_c/Program Files/Microsoft Office
Communicator/Uccp.dll file that I got over there.
What are the manifest files anyway? Is there a way to create these files out of
a dll file?
I've also tried to register the dll using regsrv32 Uccp.dll, but the result is
the same.
I can provide the Office Communicator 2007 installer if it helps.
Thanks

usable and i didn't really work with it, so i'm not sure). As reported in app
db the same issue happen in pro version of programm.

Summary: Gekkeiju Online: Bad audio sync/latency
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.54.
Platform: PC-x86-64
URL: http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version
&iId=10780
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P3
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: benjo316(a)hotpop.com
Overview:
Audio is handled or synced incorrectly, and "echos" the entire time while you
play the game.
Steps to Reproduce:
1) Open the program.
2) After the auto-updater finishes, start playing.
3) Listen to the sounds.
Actual Results: What the application did after performing the above steps.
Audio (music and effects) sounds like it is echoing(like in kobodeluxe when the
latency/frequency is set incorrectly).
Expected Results:
Audio should play clearly.
Additional Information:
I currently cannot retest with version 0.9.55 on Ubuntu 8.04, because of a
bug[1] that currently causes Wine to segfault. As soon as that bug is resolved
I will come back with an account of if it runs on the latest version of
wine(currently 0.9.55), and, if not, output from the console.
Anyone else who can confirm or provide extra details is welcome to.

I cannot seem to get the CoreAudio driver to work. Sound is nonexistant, and
it crashes winecfg:
When trying to run winecfg, I click on the "audio" tab, and the winecfg window
goes blank and the application stops responding. In the console, when I click
the tab, I get the error:
err:midi:CoreAudio_MIDIInit can't create wineMIDIClient
Prior to clicking on the audio tab and crashing, I get the
"err:midi:CoreAudio..." and a back trace. The entire output is attached.
Here's the sequence of events in summary:
I launch winecfg, and get the "err:midi:CoreAudio...", and a backtrace.
Then, I click the audio tab, and I get another "err:midi:CoreAudio...", and the

In previous versions of wine (last I tried was 0.9.33), this did not happen,
and sound output worked.

freezes in a black screen forcing me to kill the whole desktop by doing Ctrl +

Hello! I have the following problem affecting Lineage II (maybe also other
games, that use fullscreen mode)
In wine versions prior 1.1.3 when maximizing window it just takes all available
desktop space (excluding panels and such). Starting from 1.1.3 on maximize
event app going fullscreen but on exiting this mode (through Alt+Enter) window
decorations are not restored (tested in gnome with metacity, kde with kwin and
compiz with emerald). Also on entering fullscreen mode second monitor goes
blank if I have one enabled (video mode sets to whatever I have on main
monitor).
I use nVidia 8800GT video card with 173.14.12 drivers. Tested on KDE 3.5.9,
GNOME 2.22 and Compiz 0.7.6, with TwinView enabled and disabled.
Through regression testing I've found the commit that introduces the problem:
----------------------------
commit aca0296879dbf634013ea4e08319daf26e45d8db
Author: Alexandre Julliard <julliard(a)winehq.org>
Date: Thu Jul 31 17:11:28 2008 +0200
winex11: Check for wm maximized state in ConfigureNotify and update the
window state accordingly.
----------------------------
It is possible to revert to the old behaviour? At least app should not switch
to fullscreen on maximize. Or, if this is requested by app itself, maybe there
is some way to force it not to go fullscreen but just resize?
Best Regards

The service of various german photo print suppliers is originally offered by
Fujiprint. Fujiprint offers them some kind of customizable ordering software,
available for free eg. at:

This software works flawlessly under wine 1.1.1, except for the vital network
connection (easy test: start the software and hint "Update" from the main menu
bar).
Putting the IP and hostname of the local computer as only entry into /etc/hosts
does not help. Other networking software such as firefox 3.0.1 work without any
problem under the same installation.

WinUAE is an open source emulator of Amiga computers, downloadable from
http://www.winuae.net/
WinUAE uses DirectDraw for its display, which shows up several bugs in Wine's
DirectDraw implementation.
Run WinUAE and start the emulation. If you move or resize another window in
front of the main WinUAE window, the WinUAE contents "shine through",
overwriting the window you are moving. If another window is opened (partly)
overlapping the WinUAE window, its contents appear correctly, until either the
new window is moved or resized, or until WinUAE renders into its window, when
the inside part of the WinUAE window overwrites the frontmost window.
Also, minimising the WinUAE window causes the whole desktop to turn black.
(That issue is bug 1347, but I believe the "shining through" issue is different
to that.)

Running any application generates repetitive log information
that makes uploading and analyzing logs difficult, and confuses users.
For instance, here's a tally of the log messages generated by
just launching Firefox and loading one little web site:
239 fixme:font:ExtTextOutW flags ETO_NUMERICSLOCAL | ETO_NUMERICSLATIN |
ETO_PDY unimplemented
105 fixme:resource:GetGuiResources (0xffffffff,0): stub
60 fixme:ntdll:NtLockFile I/O completion on lock not implemented yet
2 fixme:file:MoveFileWithProgressW MOVEFILE_WRITE_THROUGH unimplemented
...
It would be good to reduce this verbosity, without hiding
useful fixmes. Because it's difficult to know which ones
are useful, let's focus on just the few highly repetitive
messages.
One thing we've done in the past is added a check to only print
the fixme the first time it's hit. This is probably the way to go.
Another thing that is a little easier to do is to change
the fixme to a trace; if we do that, we might want to put 'fixme:'
as the first thing in the trace message, to remember that it
needs fixing.

You can work around this with

Outfrom from glxinfo using nvidia-drivers 100.14.19.
As I understand it, Wine can use a new way of accelerating DirectDraw, using
OpenGL, since version 0.9.47, which can be activated by setting
DirectDrawRenderer to opengl, and RenderTargetLockMode to "readtex". When I
still used Nvidia drivers 87.something, StarCraft (which uses 8 bit color) ran
perfectly smooth. However, now that I've upgraded to 100.14.19, it runs
extremely slow, but only when selecting an Overmind or an Egg. When selecting
any other building or unit, it runs as smooth as before.
When running with GDI, the game also runs slower with an Overmind selected.
However, not as slow as in OpenGL mode.
Specs:
- Gentoo Linux.
- Wine: 0.9.51 (also tested 0.9.50, which was the version I used together with
the older nvidia drivers).
- Video card: GeForce 6600 LE.
- nvidia-driver: 100.14.19
- CPU/RAM: AMD Athlon X2 3800+/2GB RAM.
- Glibc: 2.6.1.
- GCC: 4.1.2.
- Kernel: 2.6.22-gentoo-r5.
Output from glxinfo is attached.

-Specifying the total resolution of the desktop would result in Red Alert
spanning both monitors. This was the intended behaviour
In Wine 0.9.57:
-Specifying the resolution of one monitor in RA.INI still fails
-Specifying the total resolution of the desktop will result in Red Alert only
appearing in one monitor and being "cut off" halfway through. The unobscured

Originally posted at http://forum.winehq.org/viewtopic.php?t=298 as a request
for whether it could be fixed through config etc.
I'm trying to take screenshots of the Dawn of War game through Wine. The game
runs fine with Wine and under Windows it has a built-in screenshot function
that dumps a JPEG to a sub-folder.
Under Wine the game never gets the print screen request because Compiz or
Metacity hijack the signal first and start Gnome-Screenshot. Sometimes the
screenshot is okay, but other times the screenshot has shearing/artifacting it
in, presumably because the trooper in the game moved before the screenshot app
could copy the whole image buffer.
If I change the key bindings so that nothing is intercepting the print screen
then I do get a screenshot in the folder as expected, but it is pure black and
so isn't very useful.
Apparently this is a bug that has been fixed before. I've assumed it is some
form of DirectX issue.
Graphics: Radeon X800XL with FGLRX v8.3 using AIGLX on XOrg server 7.3
OS: Fedora 8
Wine: 0.9.56 from Fedora repos
Tested under: Compiz-Fusion and Metacity
Success rate: Occasional for Gnome-Screenshot. Some screenshots only have minor
shearing/artifacting and are usable, others are terrible.
Example screenshots can be provided if necessary.

Hi,
As of commit e178ddd9e1e16d1a3f52492799692e289eefcf8c wined3d its
RealizePalette function doesn't work anymore in the DirectX Conformance test
(palette fading in fnddraw_dct) and Red Alert in case of the default GDI mode.
RealizePalette itself seems to receive the correct palette (the entries have
been updated correctly) but somehow the changes don't lead to a new image in
x11_copy_to_screen.
The patch that caused the regression is huge (1000+ lines), so debugging it is
time consuming.
Regards,
Roderick

Summary: Regression: X-Wing Vs. Tie Fighter fails to run
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.50.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-directx-ddraw
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: whispersbreath(a)hotmail.com
Xwing vs Tie Fighter fails to run, gives the warning "DirectDraw Init FAILED at
2"
This is a regression in .9.50, since in earlier versions it worked perfectly
for me. I know this is an older game and not many people are actively playing
it in WINE but its one of my favorites. What more info do i need to provide?

When exiting a screen that has standard Win32 controls & look, Outlaws is
shrinked to the upper left 1/4 of the screen; the rest is black. I believe
this is a regression, but I'll have to check. IN that case it is probably
quite old.

Console output of Crash
Sacred crashes randomly if you do several things ingame.
Some examples:
- clicking on a portal (similar to Diablo 2 town-portals)
- opening the quest log (key "L")
- opening the overview map (key "M")
- pressing escape to get the game menu
Sometimes the game crashes without doing anything.
I will submit several crash logs...
Regarding the logs I assume this is an wine-directx-ddraw issue.

Summary: Menu doesn't render in Thief The Dark Project in readtex
mode
Product: Wine
Version: CVS/GIT
Platform: PC
URL: http://www.thief-thecircle.com/download.asp?fid=293
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-ddraw
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: alexd4(a)inbox.lv
When going to menu by pressing ESC from the actual game level, menu doesn't
render (neither in full screen or desktop mode) when RTL mode is readtex.
Screen is not updated at all despite you can hear menu music and sound effects
as mouse passes clickable menu items. I get it on Geforce 2 mx and Geforce6100
and reportedly it also happens on some other nvidia cards.
Also happens immediately if directdrawrenderer is set to opengl (without it
menu works before starting level, apparently because it's rendered by gdi).
In other games readtex seems to work fine for me, so probably this indicates
some bug in wined3d triggered by readtex mode.
Demo is available.
Also affects system shock 2 (also Looking Glass Studio, probably shares engine
code) and, probably also Thief 2 - The Metal Age (I didn't check but it has
almost same engine).

Latest ZDaemon (http://zdaemon.org/) with Wine (0.9.59-0.9.61, maybe some
earlier version too, I missed some) flickers in fullscreen mode while picking
item or taking damage. If you try to turn on "Direct Draw Palette Hack" option
from video options menu it begins flicker right away. There was no such problem
with 0.9.50.

WINEDEBUG=+relay captured stderr
After successfully installing Pool of Radiance 1.4,
and using the nocd patch as suggested in the appdb comments,
the game does not start.
Running wine por2Main.exe opens a black window in the top left corner
of the screen for a very brief moment,
and then the program quits.
I attach the stderr of WINEDEBUG=+relay as a gzipped text file.

Hello
using the following Direct3D options, I've finally managed to run Zorks:
DirectDrawRenderer=opengl
RenderTargetLockMode=readdraw
However, the screen render still is not 100%, it looks like there is some sort
of incremental filter for static parts of picture.
See the attached pictures for more info, see the link below for demo installer
and Installation HOWTO.
