Steam output
Steam Store and Community tabs no longer have vertical scrollbar. Some times it
appears but are out of range and don't react to mouse scroll wheel. However
after refresh scroll bar disappears.
This is regression and caused by this patch:

Directly after starting Cortex Command.exe (build 20 and 21 show the exact same
behavior) wine terminates without any console output. No sound is played, no
window is opened. Cortex Command 19 worked just fine. Build 21 works fine in
windows.

the error message
whenever i try to play icewind dale 2 now i get a "C++ runeime error" after i
have finished choosing characters and try to strat the game. the loading bar
always gets to the same point and then freezes for a while then the game
crashes and i get the error message
im not sure if the problem is in the running of the first part of the game or
the autosaving function
can somebody help me please... ill put an attachment of the error message on
just incase it may help you
oh and please dont be too techincal cos u'll confuse me easily

Once the game loses focus of its window the graphics get corrupted - all
textures are lost and everything is white instead. It keeps running fine as
performance but no textures.
This behaviour came with RC2. In RC1 the game used to crash under the same
conditions, so it is an improvement but not the right one :) .

This is different to bug 12816 and bug 13422. 12816 only applied to the beta
version of this game, and this bug is only reached when you get past 13422.
Once getting past 13422 by clicking on the invisible "Play" button, the game
tried to launch but fails with the attached output. I've run it with
WINEDEBUG=-xrender, or the log is massive, as it has this line repeating
endlessly:

The game crashes everytime it tries to load a battle, and gives the following
error:
Generic Error: Insufficient video memory to load requested texture set.
The progress bar freezes near the end for almost a minute before the crash.
May be related to BUG 13118, because some posts report the same problem, but I
didn't experienced any off the other problems listed there, so I think this is
a different bug.

The friend's list does not show text properly. All names come up as boxes (I am
assuming this is due to unicode?). The control type is a SysListView (if that
helps).
On other tabs, the entries come up as blank white lines as seen here

This has affected all versions of Xfire (current 1.91) and I have seen reports
of it happening in every distribution of linux and wine (to date).
Pictures above tested with fresh install of Ubuntu 8.04 x86, Xfire 1.91, and

The following code crashes WINE, but not Windows. It adds a popupmenu to the
popupmenu itself, then calls MENU_FindItem via GetMenuState. MENU_FindItem
keeps following the loop until it crashes with a stack overflow. Windows reacts
a bit strangely, too, but does not crash. Messing around in MENU_FindItem
allows WZebra (othello program, listed in the appdb) to start, but I was unable
to figure out the correct solution. Not sure if WZebra accidentally creates a
temporary loop, or that this is caused by some other regression. WZebra used to
work great a long time ago.

Often in Portal, instead of seeing through a pair of portals, you end up seeing
what's behind the destination portal - but this depends on the viewing angle
and distance.
It would appear that the clipping plane/frustum (whatever) when the portal is
rendered is modified with respect to the player's position in Portal; or
perhaps it *isn't* modified and is instead rendered with the same clipping
frustum as the main viewpoint.

Many things in Thief: Deadly Shadows do not properly render text. This makes it

By default, Ricochet Infinity runs in fullscreen mode at 800x600. When
switching from fullscreen mode to windowed mode, the screen size is changed
from 800x600 back to the original screen size (this should happen), and the
window is resized to full the screen (this should not). This happens whether
I'm using my normal window manager or running the program in a virtual desktop.
Starting the game once the setting is changed to windowed mode works fine; the
window is 800x600 and the screen size is not changed.

Chromium has nightly builds with pdb files at
http://build.chromium.org/buildbot/snapshots/chromium-rel-xp/
and if you install corefonts, then current wine can install
and run (though for me chromium hangs when loading web page).
However, getting symbolic stack dumps (sometimes?) fails.
To get wine to find the symbol files, put them in the current
directory (or the directory they were in when they were built,
or a directory on Wine's PATH).
But wine complains

I've installed CoD4 and tried to start it...but I only get the error mentioned
in the summary, so I patched the game to 1.7 and tried again...but same error
as above.
The game says that I've to insert the correct DVD, but the DVD is inserted into
the drive, it is mounted and it's an original DVD.

details) are at the wrong vertical position. I made a screenshot of this issue.
I have tested this with different versions of eMule and wine.

In 3DS Max 7.0 there is an option for changing the arrangement and types of
viewports displayed, whether they be 3D perspective viewports, or 2D ones
displaying various sides of geometry generated in the program.
For some reason, if you attempt to change the viewport arrangement, it crashes
with a crash report window. Also, if you have one of the viewports maximized,
it will crash before even opening the viewport configuration window.
I'm guessing this is related to d3d (when the crash occurs there are now errors
produced about the crash in the terminal). I'll have to do a trace.

>From Wine-0.9.52 (the oldest version I tested, probably works with earlier
versions too) until commit 9e9ef6238a5f27423e28c8f95f69fb02b98d8f27 TMNF work
fine. No crashes etc. That commit breaks TMNF completely so that it won't even
start. No error message, it just exits after a few seconds. Starting with
commit 69a40127c64ddce1908d72556bc0d6dcec86b396 the game starts again, but
often crashes. Seems like some kind of memory leak in the D3D code, as
GL_OUT_OF_MEMORY errors often precede the crash. Starting with commit
bd68237096eb7731239359a2b4941163be015f42 the in-game menus are not displayed
correctly. I can see the menus as transparent and blurred areas, but no buttons
etc are visible.

Program first asks for 2 dlls d3dx9_36.dll and xinput1_3.dll
Putting them in sys32 I can then get the program window to appear and I get
errors for CheckTextureCapability at ATI1 ATI2 AL16 R16 RAWZ INTZ DF24 DF16
(each error appears on a seperate line in terminal) the application then
crashes and asks me to submit a bug report to Funcom (the makers of the
application).
First bug report, I hope I did this correctly.

Hi,
at least two applications regularly abort because of this assertion failure.
"Der Löwe ist los" and "Tiger Team - Geheimnis der goldenen Mumie"
(games for children, from different German editors).
A common point is that both are based on Macromedia. During run they create a
folder in windows/temp/ containing msvcrt.dll, iml32.dll (containing the string
Macromedia Director 7.0.2r85 1999), dirapi.dll and xtras/*.x32.
I.e. Macromedia might badly drive dsound. That might be the culprit.
The applications basically start, however at random time, they abort with the
message:
err:dsound:DSOUND_MixInBuffer length not a multiple of block size, len = 1579,
block size = 2
mixer.c:489: DSOUND_MixInBuffer: Assertion `dsb->buf_mixpos + len <=
dsb->tmp_buffer_len' failed.
I've tried WINEDEBUG=dsound which overflows me with endless output. I'll try to
extract a sensible snippet and attach it.
I'm using 0.9.57 (compiled locally) with Ubuntu Dapper & Gutsy, ALSA output.
Note that some of the sounds are played very well, others produce (very loud)
noise. At some point in time, the application aborts.
A possibly related (revealing?) issue is that I could "turn" a broken sound
(producing loud noise and often causing the assertion failure) into its audible
form by clicking on another object in the game "Tiger Team". This causes some
good speech output, and while speech goes on, click the initial object: the two
sounds are mixed correctly.
This item might be related to bug #7693, yet that one only talks about the
error log message, not the application aborting because of the assertion
failure.

It had some hitches installing (the outer installer hung,
the inner installer it left behind ran, but five or six times

An "Out of Memory" error occurs when trying to open the Solver tool from within
excel 2003.
Output to the terminal prints the following error message:

Steps to reproduce:
1) Install Office 2003 to a new wine drive.
2) During the installation, customize the installation, and install the
"Solver" addin.
3) Run excel with wine
4) Under Tools->Addins, select "Solver"

6) Select Tools->Solver

I use a windows application with wine. wine version 0.9.39 and 0.9.40 work fine
with this application, versions from 0.9.41 (incl. builds from most recent
git/cvs sources) fail to run this software:
No text is displayed in the main window of the application. Browsing through
the dropdown menus (which also do not contain any text) leads to a crash.
The output of a successfull run with wine 0.9.40 and the output of a crash
using version 0.9.41 is attached.
Maybe somebody has an idea what the problem is.

A business application written in Delphi that uses Oracle OCI client, worked
normally in Wine 0.9.33 under Ubuntu 7.04. After upgrade to Wine 0.9.46 (or
even to 0.9.41) it starts working faster but also starts hanging on update LOB
data if these data amount more than ~10 KBytes.

console log of the error
Hi, i tried different cd's from me with different programms...
older ones installed with WINE perfectly but newer ones with installshield are
crashing with an error, the same thing happens when running this crashing setup
with REACTOS - but reactos says the same error and says what it is failing.
the referenced memmory couldn't be read at 0x3547897ff - i beleive it's the
same for wine (reactos and wine share some developers ...)
i hope it can be fixed soon :)

Re: moneysoft Money Manager Windows98 program installed under Wine, which works
well. On opening, the program automatically opens the last data file used in
the previous run. On the first instance of run from boot, the program runs
correctly, but if it is closed and later re-opened without re-booting the
computer, it cannot access its data file because it says it is already in use.
Each time the program is run it creates a process 'winedvm.exe' which sleeps
when the program is closed, therefore it does not release the data file. To run
the program more than once during any work session, any existing instances of
winedvm.exe have to first be killed.

I am trying to run an Applications under Wine developed under MS Visual Basic
6.0 SP6 .
I realised, some controls belonging to MS Forms2.0 Controls doesn't run (
example Combo Box ),
until others ( example List box ) doe's run fine.
The details:
1. Wine Version 1.1.5
2. Ubuntu Hardy 8.0.4
3. Ubuntu downloaded by Ubuntu application Ad/Remove service.
4. Running in XP environment.
5. Steps to reproduce the bug:
- Open New Standatd EXE project in VB 6.0 SP6
- Project/Components Microsoft Forms 2.0 Object Library
- Put on the form opened a ComboBox control. You neadn't add any code.
- Save ComboBox_test project
- Create Setup package for ComboBox_test by Package and Deployement
wizard ( in AdIns )
- Configure and run Setup in wine 1.1.5
- Configure and run the ComboBox_test.
You have error message: Failed to load control "ComboBox".
- You can do the same by ListBox. It doe's run fine.

2. choose a picture (i.e. jpg) file
- it's not possible to import files/folders by pressing [open], the button
isn't activated

i've tested prison tycoon 4 with wine 1.1.5 here.
it works "well" but... the most values like funds/money, prisoner etc. are not
visible except if you get a plus of money like: +45.
some other labels like character names are not displayed correctly.

Crash debug output
I tried running the XCom UFO Defence game.
On execution a black screen appeared, it doesn't respond to input etc.
I switched away to my second monitor.
I switched back to the first.
Upon switching back to the first Wine instantly crashed.
The debugger log is attached.

With 1.1.7, when attempting to start the 5days.exe executable, a dialog box is
shown with the message:
"An exception 0xC0000005 occured in ACWIN.EXE at EIP = 0x0046DD82 ; program
pointer is +9902, ACI version 2.55.560, gtags (0,0)
AGS cannot continue, this exception was fatal. Please note down the numbers
above, remember what you were doing at the time and notify CJ on the Tech
forum."

quits without any error message, but if the setting is pbuffer, it launches
successfully.

Corel Painter X installs but when run produces many
fixme:gdiplus:GdipCreateHBITMAPFromBitmap stub errors. Note that this is not
the Painter demo, which has entirely different behavior and is therefore not a
valid test case/substitute. Also winecfg has a Windows XP environment set
*before* the install, which causes Painter to assume that gdiplus.dll is
present (otherwise for example with Win2K it will install it's own gdiplus.dll,
producing different behavior). This bug is present as of Wine git version
1.1.6-255.

Shell_NotifyIcon(NIM_ADD, &rec) is supposed to add icon onto the tray (on the
taskbar).
I have to confirm that in some previous version it worked just fine.
With FedoraCore 8, wine 1.0, it shows icons _ONLY_ if application is run under
root account. With regular user, Shell_NotifyIcon() will return FALSE but
GetLastError() indicates no problems and return zero.
In other words, there are two problems:
1) if Shell_NotifyIcon() enconters a problem, it should return FALSE and
appropriate error code should be available through GetLastError.
2) Shell_NotifyIcon() should let applicatoins running under regular user
account to add icons onto the task bar

Atlantis Quest 1.0 debugger backtrace
With current Git (wine-1.1.4-292-g4b4109a), when attempting to exit from the
Atlantis Quest demo, the application hangs with a white screen. Attaching to
the process with winedbg and obtaining a backtrace shows the hang to be
seemingly in IDirect3DStateBlock8Impl_Release. Backtrace is attached.

Error messages when running Blitzkrieg with native msxml3 dll
The game 'Blitzkrieg' crashes on startup when playing opening movie. The movie
can be skipped by pressing space, but then the game crashes anyway with black
screen before even showing the menu. According to the reports from appdb, this
game worked ok with wine-0.9.58 and wine-1.0.0rc2. I've tested it with wine-1.0
and wine-1.1.4 with native and builtin msxml3 library with no luck. I've been
testing 'Blitzkrieg Anthology' release of this game.
Attached are console errors when running with native msxml3 dll.

Winecfg wil hang up now when pressing the Test Sound Button if ALSA is setuped.
(Sound appears, but button will not get released anymore)
Closing winecfg not possible then, it must be killed.
OSS setting work correctly.

When multiple tracks are selected, any fields in the tag panel that are not
common to all tracks should automatically change to "<keep>", i.e. don't update
this value.
Under Wine, this does not happen.
This is a major usability pain because it results in the tags in the selected
tracks being over-written.
Currently using Mp3Tag 2.41, although I have seen the same behaviour in earlier
versions of both Mp3Tag and Wine.

The game stops responding and has to be killed with ctrl-c. It is caused
because it tries to load dib.drv instead of DIB.DRV. It can be "fixed" by
renaming the file DIB.DRV, that comes with the game, to dib.drv. This, though,
will result in another error.

Since DX9 API implemented, this bug appeared in portal: the green rectangle
moving from near to far. This should be some shader problem, since bug isn't
reproducible in DX8 mode.
Also, reducing graphic details makes rectangle to move faster.

It seems that "AddFontRessource" (visualbasic function ??) isn't interprated by
wine. At the installation of Guitar Pro 5.X, I got message :

i used simulator

its downloadable from pdn.palm.com after registration(registration is for free)
start simulator, wait until it 'boots', press right mouse button, in menu
choose storage andsave snapshot. it will ask you for file name and when you
confirm everything simulator will crash. this doesn't happen in windows xp
also there are some other storage based issues(storage size is reported to be
1.8gb even if simulator is set to 32mb, installing programs sometimes fails,

With Wine 0.9.47, in Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion v1.2, there are horizonal white
lines in the water. It's a regression between 0.9.44 and 0.9.45. I've done
regression testing and found the following commit to be the cause:

One pixel off anomolies
As far as I can gather in Oblivion, anyway. See screenshot. The water's normal
map has lines going through it as if the color was bad, and the whole game
screen has a glow at the top as if an overlay had a bad color there and was
being additively blended.
Using fbo for OffscreenRenderingMode and GLSL enabled. nVidia Geforce 8600 GT,
latest drivers (100.14.19).

Pegasus 4.41 (and other versions) uses child windows to display specific
categories of information relating to email. Examples: a list of all email
folders. All the messages in a specific email folder. A display of email
messages waiting on the smtp server. A message editor for composition of a new
outgoing email.
Each child window is controlled by a system menu at the left of the title bar,
and three icons at the right of the title bar. The system menu normally
includes move, restore (to previous non-maximized size) minimize, maximize,
close, switch (to another child window). It also lists keyboard shortcuts for
many of these actions. The three icons are minimize, restore or maximize, and
close.
Running Pegasus as a window-managed application, Wine replaces the child window
system menu with one of its own in which the shortcut for close is ALT-F4. In
native Windows operation, the child window close shortcut is CTRL-F4.
If you key CTRL-F4 in a child window, nothing happens. It is not a valid
shortcut under Wine.
If you key ALT-F4 in a child window, the program itself exits, not just the
single child window.
If you click the close/exit icon [X] in a child window the entire program
exits.
Evidently the exit icon is linked to the close option in the child window's
system menu.
It also appears that some child windows that close automatically also use the
close option listed in their system menu.
It isn't clear to me if the bug is (a) that Wine supplants the native child
window menus or (b) that Wine does not implement a CTRL-F4 (close child window)
shortcut or (c) that the Wine child window menu does not include CTRL-W for
"close".
The effect is that once you open a child window in Pegasus, you cannot reliably
close it without exiting Pegasus altogether; also that auto-closing of some
child windows causes program exit.
In unmanaged mode, bug #1798 causes its own problems.
CTRL-F4 is the Windows equivalent to CTRL-W, which has no effect.
This behavior is not entirely consistent; sometimes you can use the [X] exit
icon to successfully exit a single child window without shutting down the
entire program. I can't tell if this is true inconsistency or because some
child windows are (perhaps) programmed differently from others.

I installed the game with no problems through Steam. I managed to run it,
change my settings, and start playing the tutorial mission, however, it crashes
whenever I try to start a campaign. It stays on the loading screen, then dies
back to Steam. I think the level is successfully loading or at least attempting
to because I get a lot of hard disk access. This happens regardless of
resolution or windowed mode.
Hardware info: I'm running 64 bit gentoo and the 2.6.20 kernel with the Con
Kolivas patch set. I have the most recent stable nvidia drivers. I have a
7950gx2 in multi gpu mode. I also have a dual core 64 bit processor.

Versions of wine >= 0.9.53 do not work with ies4linux.
Https websites are available; however, after initializing
the page, wineserver and IEXPLORE.EXE jump to 100% CPU usage.
This requires killing IEXPLORE and wineserver, (kill -9 `pidof wineserver`,
kill -9 `pidof IEXPLORE.EXE`) to get the CPU usage back. Closing internet
explorer does not work and it cannot be opened again if it is closed after
visiting an https website.
This has been reported already at launchpad.net; however, the users there
assumed that it was a "ubuntu" bug not a bug with the actual wine application.
I can confirm that this fails when built from source as well.

When i run ie6 (it was installed using newest ie4linux) and I open web site
(for example http:\\centrum24.pl/cbm ), the iexplorer.exe and wineserver starts
to consume all available cpu). I do not need to do anything else to reproduce
the problem. Next when i close program I need to kill all wine processes
because they still consumes all cpu and they don't close themselves.
I do regression test and I find that the problem was introduced by:

Trying to install Mobil 1 British Rally Championship (by Magnetic Fields),

When I start the app I get a dialog box that says:

I have communicated with the lead developer who informs me that beta 11 was the
first version that had the copy protection software installed. That software is
"Software Passport." which apparently also uses the name Amadillo.

I'm a new Wine user and I have a big problem with Guild Wars. I can't launch it
most of the time (9 times out of 10).
When I can run the game, I just have a mauve screen. I tried to change the
graphical settings in the game and now, I see the characters and the trees but
no background.
I'm using Ubuntu Hardy Heron 8.04 (32 bits). I've got an intel core 2 duo E6600
with a NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900 XT 128 Mo and 1 GB of RAM.
I suppose you need more information but I really don't know how to have it. If
you need some information, please tell me how I can get it.

This game tries to set the bppp to 8 at the beginning. My PC says it is not
possible

I cannot install Half-Life 2: Episode One because it tells me Direct 9.0c is
not installed... Even installing it gives me the same results.
I tryed with a new profile with WINEPREFIX after a wineprefixcreate
I have wine 0.9.48 installed under a 32 bit chroot environment from ArchLinux

i'm using a (commercial) applications that outputs data using internet
explorer's print view. unfortunately, this doesn't work - neither when
installing gecko as alternative render-engine. another attempt to get around
this was to install internet explorer (using ies4osx
http://www.kronenberg.org/ies4osx/), but installation fails. i'm using the osx
port of wine in version 1.1

Hi,
the problem is that the program TntMPD v2.0r48 doesn't install. It worked well
in wine version 0.9.61. But as I tried wine 1.0.0 it sets all necessary values
but doesn't copy the program files (directory remains empty). As I copied them
by hand the application worked.
The application itself works fine. Once you found a way to install it.

SetWindowHookEx fails to inject DLL conatining the HookProc into another
process if the DLL is linked with another DLL in the same directory which is
not on PATH.
Suppose DLLA_GetMsgProcis is in A.DLL, and A.dll is linked to B.dll, with those
code:
hwnd = FindWindow("Notepad",NULL);
idThread = GetWindowThreadProcessId(hwnd, NULL);
SetWindowsHookEx(WH_GETMESSAGE, DLLA_GetMsgProc, hinst, idThread );
SetWindowsHookEx will fail because it can not load B.dll which is imported by
A.dll.
If hwnd is created by current process, there is no problem. But in above code,
Notepad is not the current process.
I have created a simplest test application (attached) with source and compiled
exe/dll to show the above bug on wine.

Fahrenheit is broken in newer versions of Wine. I think it started somewhere
about .55 (.59 is broken, .44 works great).
It crashes reproducibly after the "Loading..." screen, whenever you start the
game, a chapter or the tutorial.

log when CS:S crashs after change graphic options and accept them
Hello,
do the following to reproduce this bug for you:
start CS:S
goto options>graphic>advanced
now change one of the detail options [e.g. "modeledtails"]
then click "Ok" and then "accept" [or how it is namned in the englisch
version], tha game will now "hang" and then it will crash [or it will
immediatley crash...that difference sometime it hang and then crash and
sometimes it crashes immediateley]
