not even displayed (but space is assigned and this space is never
refreshed/cleared). I can provide both executable and screenshots, but I think
it's easier to write a test app.

The following error appears when attempting to run Maple 11 from the console:
Error occurred during initialization of VM
java/lang/NoClassDefFoundError: java/lang/Object
Sorry, no further info available; Maple is not Open source. Suspect though that
the problem lies in the Maple launcher when it encounters java as it makes a
visible attempt to start (and then disappears shortly after stating "loading").
Classic Maple which does not use Java works fine! This also uses the same
launcher, so the non-clasic version of maple must crash at the point where the
launcher attempts to run java.

1) Running PES with fglrx drivers on r3xxx
Those are some reports after testing the free-downloadable demo of PES 2008
under wine.
The game installs well and runs if well configured as mentioned in Application
DB (briefly enabling "UseGLSL" and setting an audio engine), but it has some
problems in some hardware I think:
1) Running it with ATi fglrx drivers (free radeon ones aren't usable at all) on
my rv350 card (mobility radeon 9700) there are resolution errors (if I set it
to 640x480 the size is something like 400x450).
See attachment for a shot.
2) In some cards (nvidia from my tests) it freezes while loading some textures
(both in menus and/or in game) with these errors (tracked on low/medium/high
quality runs):
err:ntdll:RtlpWaitForCriticalSection section 0x7e8aee90 "d3d9_main.c: d3d9_cs"

Complete logs are attached.
A workaround to this problem is setting "OffscreenRenderingMode" Direct3D
setting to "fbo"
3) Using fbo OffscreenRenderingMode some scenes (Replays, Corners,
GoalKicks...) can't be seen using Medium or High quality (no problems using low
quality, instead). Durning these moments, in fact, I can see only a light-blue
screen with a small square in, showing a part of the game.
Some relevant (I think) logs are:
err:d3d:IWineD3DDeviceImpl_Reset Cannot change the back buffer format yet
err:x11settings:X11DRV_ChangeDisplaySettingsEx No matching mode
found(1280x800x32)! (XRandR)

You can see the attached shot for understanding in a better way.
4) Freezes on closing: when exiting from PES the screen becomes black, but the
application doesn't terminate (it seems an audio problem, since util I kill the
process my sound-card emets a vibrant sound).
Sorry but I can't take a log...
6) Gamepads can't be used inside the game... Also if wine finds my pads (and
they works with other games [i.e. FIFA 08]), I can't use them in menus.
I don't know if this is a wine or PES bug btw...

Console output of hl2.exe
Counter-Strike: Source crashes, if someone on the server (palyer himself, other
player or bot) uses the terrorists' G-3 autosniper weapon and HITS someone
else.
Judging by the console output of hl2.exe, it seems to be a direct-sound error:
"Backtrace:
err:dsound:DSOUND_MixOne Fatal error. Under/Overflow? primary_done=20608,
mixpos=23448/71332 (21544/65536), primary_mixpos=5024, writepos=49952,

This error was reportet several times in the AppDB:
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=3731
And it seems to exist since a quite long time: at least since 9.61
Again: This bug does ONLY occur if someone uses the G-3 autosniper, that is
only available to the terrorist fraction, and if the bullets strike another
players body.

connecting to online banking services.
When I click "Register Quicken" absolutely nothing happens and I am not
presented with the box allowing for application registration. If I override
secur32.dll and then click "Register Quicken" I am presented with a box that
says "You must have Internet Explorer Version 5.5 or later with 128 bit
encryption installed in order to register Quicken". However, I did install IE6
using IEs 4 Linux.

Hi,
Where can I find the guidelines for designing and/or contributing icons for
Wine, particularly for shell32? Since I know very little C/C++ this might be
one area where I can contribute.
I would have suggested this before, but I knew that everyone's busy getting the
basics done in time for Wine 1.0, and of course, functionality and bug fixes is
understandably more important than artwork. Now that a stable version has been
released, I think this might be a good time to work on the look and feel.
Regards,
Bamm

4) links should be added next to the fields of forms to explain them; for

Hoping this will help, André.

The reason of the problem is loss of SelectionRequest/SelectionClear X11

I've attached a patch which fixes the problem.

I am experiencing issues with all Steam games that involves the menu screen to
flicker and appear every second for a split second during gameplay. The game
loads up and runs perfectly fine, but the menu screen flashes over the gameplay
ever second, making it hard to play. At first I figured it was my refresh rate,
so I set it to 60 in the game and the game launchers command line, but the
problem still persisted. I tried running the game in a virtual desktop, but
that caused my computer to freeze. I then tried running it windowed, but the
problem still proceeds.
I am using wine-1.0.0 and Ubuntu 8.04. I've had this problem with DOD: Source,
Half-Life, and Deathmatch Classic. I haven't ever experienced this problem
before, so I'm quite sure that it is Wine.

I don't use any native dlls, but cat try to install something with winetools or
copy any from my notebook's windows. I think, it's not any kind of crime, couse
I have windows logo on the bottom of notebook and some junk cdroms from
notebook vendor.
P.S.
MathCAD is not a free application, so I can't give download URL here.
I can make an archive with all setup files and put it on any file-share server.
But without any serial numbers. :-/

Vim has menus that are split into two columns. The first column is a verbal
description of a menu item, and the second column is the vim command that
accomplishes the same thing. Running the Windows version of gvim has both
columns begin at the same x-position, resulting in them overlapping each other.
Unfortunately I haven't figured out how to grab a screenshot of a menu, as
pressing print screen cancels the menu.

I'm running SH2 with this hardware: athlon 3000+, 512 MB of ram, matrox g550 on
xubuntu gutsy (7.10), wine is run in emulated desktop @1024x768.
When the game runs at normal speed it is enjoyable of course.
But half the time i play, it is very slow. I can't tell what component causes
this because no extra messages come from the command line (many fixme messages
but they are not related to the slow downs). What i know is that this happens
at random time and place (i mean, in the game) and i think this is not due to
scene complexity, it happens during the normal game (so with variable scene
complexity) but also:
- during the game start and load menus,
- when James doesn't move (it waits), with the light on or off,
- when i look at the inventory,
- when i look at the city map,
- during a cut scene (the game uses bink video).
Well, it can happen at any time!
Further, the same random is for slow downs disappearing! The same scenarios
cause the game to get faster at normal speed, when nothing changed.
I really don't know what to investigate.
Sometimes i can restore the normal speed moving a large window over the wine
desktop (so forcing wine to redraw the whole window) but, i said, sometimes;
this doesn't work anytime.

According to MSDN, CreateFile can be used to obtain a handle on a device on
which DeviceIoControl can be performed. Also, code in

However, wine always fails with error code 2 (file not found). The following

I've tested their code both on native winxp and win98. It works fine on winxp

with the music: it seems that the buzzing suddenly gets louder after low notes.
(You might have to wait a few seconds before the buzzing becomes obvious on
the title screen.)
Note that the audio file itself is fine: it's a regular MP3, and it plays
without any buzzing in VLC. Also, there doesn't seem to be any buzzing with
the music disabled.

The best way to enter text using DNS9 is with Dictation Box, a temporary window

The box is supposed to close with the command Transfer, which is supposed to
copy the text into a buffer and paste it into the current application, wherever
the cursor was before DB was opened.
The Dictation Box opens correctly, and text enters correctly. But the Transfer
command does not place the text in any buffer at all -- the text just
disappears, and DB with it.
I have tried to paste into both DragonPad and Notepad. Neither works, although
both should.
I have run the program using a terminal. There is no output when the Transfer

In the Quake Wars demo when you scroll the mouse wheel, it is supposed to move
the voice shortcut selection up or down by one. In Wine it is scrolling twice
instead (so you can only select 1, 3, 5 etc.).
The normal terminmal output probably isn't useful for this as it doesn't
generate anything when scrolling. Is there anything I should attach? I have
set this to dinput as I know the game uses dinput, but this may be wrong.

After that's done, the following errors occur (shown in attachment).

Silencer also doesn't seem to be legit.
These apps currently reside on the frontpage of AppDB without any

fix loopback handling
When using a loopback device as a wine drive, wine will prefer to use the
loopback device (e.g. /dev/loop0) for volume access rather than the regular
file it's based on (e.g. ~/foo.iso).
>From dlls/ntdll/directory.c:
else if (!stat( entry->mnt_fsname, &st ) && S_ISREG(st.st_mode))
{
/* if device is a regular file check for a loop mount */
if ((device = strstr( entry->mnt_opts, "loop=" )))
{
char *p = strchr( device + 5, ',' );
if (p) *p = 0;
return device + 5;
}
}
I'm not sure if this has any advantage, but it has a big inconvenient. It's
almost certain that /dev/loop0 is owned by root and not world-readable, and
it's also mostly certain that wine isn't being run as root. If the image is
user-owned, by using the loop device we lose the ability to read it.
This typicaly causes breakage that is difficult to figure out. For example,
see
http://appdb.winehq.org/objectManager.php?sClass=version&iId=727&iTestingId…
Note: I'm filing this separate from bug 10957 because it's an unrelated issue.
The patch I'm attaching here collides with the one I sent for bug 10957, but
takes both situations into account.

Attempting to run Thief 2 (version 1.18) under Wine produces the crash detailed
in the attachment. I'm running on Ubuntu 8.04, on a multicore AMD64 processor;
I tried the suggested methods to force Thief2 to run on a single processor, but
this merely produced the same crash again.

Summary: Yoot Tower: hangs when selecting a tool
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.1
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: -unknown
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: hymie(a)lactose.homelinux.net
Yoot Tower runs fine on my desktop box running Linux 2.6.19 and wine 0.9.44
On my laptop (Linux 2.6.25 , wine 1.1.1) , Yoot Tower starts successfully.
However, when I try to select a building tool (such as the lobby or elevator),
the game appears to hang. The sound is still playing and the mouse moves
around the YT window, but the screen does not update in any way.
Please let me know what further information I can provide that would help get
this resolved.
Thanks.
