Sprint Layout - a very good and simple CAD program for PCB design. On windows
OS it works fine, but when emulated the mouse doesn't catch tracks, routes and
pads. I must make a group with the mouse to move something, and that decreases
the productivity a lot. Here's the Sprint-layout homepage:

See what you can do. Regards!

When installing Medal of Honor the dialog boxes seem to come up in the
background. An example is when the dialog is presented to enter the serial
number, that opens in another window and you have to click on the taskbar to
access it and then enter it. But then later on, after doing that another box
pops up (saying that the directory does not exist, would you like to create it)
and it does not show up in the foreground. When clicking on the "InstallShield
Wizard" item in the taskbar does not bring it up, but if you Alt-Tab you are
able to see and access the dialog boxes.

In game menu with only half of screen covered.
For this bug report I'll concentrate on Thief (The Dark Project), but I'm
seeing this problem in a lot of places. In brief, only the top half of the
screen is visible in certain graphical modes.
In more detail: Thief seems to use four different graphical modes, each with
different behaviour.
1. The first mode, used for the menu screens on entry to the game, work
normally. I'm doing this test with a wine virtual desktop at 640x480
resolution (and my real desktop is 1280x1024).
2. On entry to the game it uses hardware 3d graphics that runs very slowly.
This seems to be a known problem with Thief, though I can't see a bug report
for this.
3. Hitting ESC brings up the in-game menu which normally replaces the entire
display; in this report only just under the top half the screen is visible.
Fortunately I can see just enough of the configuration menu to select software
3d graphics.
4. Software 3d graphics used to work tolerably (in a somewhat earlier release,
maybe 0.9.59?), but now I see only the top quarter or less of the screen!
I'll try and attach some screenshots to illustrate this. Um -- how am I
supposed to add more than one screenshot in this message? I've attached an
example for case (3).
This is with Wine 1.0-rc5 built from git, but I've been seeing this problem for
a while now.

For AppDB test data to be usefull to users, and since we know have stable wine

not just list 1.1.0 to 1.1.5 (for example), since corporate users and users
looking for stability will be sticking to 1.0 for a long time.
It should be the same for future stable releases like 1.2 - but those should
not supersede 1.0 since some users/distributions might keep 1.0 for a long
time.

It has been like this for the last couple of versions. While in the actual game
almost all of the graphics are gone except for maybe the background, headlights
things like that. Performance is also very bad, though the sound is alright.
What is strange is if focus is taken away the graphics return to normal and the
game performs fine. Another similar problem is in the cutscenes, which look and
sound alright but are extremely choppy. Take focus away and they run fine. Must
have something to do with the input handling I guess.

In our app we generate accelerator text using the virtual key code of the
accelerator key and a couple of shift flags. e.g. a menu item's text would say
something like 'Do Stuff CTRL+D'
Under Wine for certain keys which appear both on the left and right of the
keyboard, in this case Alt, Shift and Ctrl. The text returned is specific to
the left/right scan code. This differs from Windows.
So our menu item will read something like 'Do Stuff Control_L+D' which is a
little ugly and implies you have to use the left Ctrl key.
Code snippet:
TCHAR szText[64];
LONG lParam;
// MapVirtualKey returns the scan code for the left control key.
// Left shift for the call to GetKeyNameText
lParam = MapVirtualKey(VK_CONTROL, 0) << 16;
// The string returned by GetKeyNameText on Windows does not differentiate
// between right and left and is 'CTRL' or 'Ctrl' depending on the Windows
Version
// Under Wine it returns 'Control_L'
GetKeyNameText(lParam, szText, sizeof(szText)/sizeof(szText[0]));

The max screen resolution of my monitor seems not to be recognized correctly by
the game or wine, because the lower part of the graphic is outside of the
display. I have a widescreen lcd with a resolution of 1400x900 pixel but i
think wine try to use 1280x1024 as resolution and as the result of this the
lower part does not match into the screen...
Ihis issue starts in wine 1.1.1 after resolving the novideoplayback issue of
bug 8604. I think in videoplayback wine switch to the wrong resolution and
after this the rest of the game leave this wrong resolution active and it does
not fit into the screen. Perhaps this issue have something to do with bug 8604.

Screenshot of the error, window circled in red.
When using Diablo 2 in Windowed mode (run the game with the option -w),
clicking anything outside of the window that would cause the application to
lose focus causes the window to shrink down to enough space to display the icon
on the left side of the window's top bar.
Because the window can not be re-sized, the application must be killed and
restarted to continue.
Environment:
Latest version of wine, 0.9.58
Ubuntu 7.10 with gnome desktop
Intel 915 integrated graphics card
Steps to repeat
- Install Diablo 2 and apply the latest patch for the game (not sure if the
patch matters)
- Run Diablo 2 in windowed mode (run with the -w option)
- Right click on the desktop to make a context menu appear
- The diablo 2 window will shrink. Since the window can not be re-sized it is
stuck in this state and the program must be killed
A similar bug to this appears when running in fullscreen mode, however it is
harder to repeat since more effort is required to make the program lose focus.
It does happen quite often however.

it also starts successfully. However, when opening a design file (.fpf), it
quickly runs into swapping and rather freezes my machine (750MB RAM).

i am having the same problem running total annihilation as with the last
version of wine (0.9.55). the game runs and i can hear sound in the background
but the screen is black! i can randomly hit buttons and hear sound but i get a
black screen. In wine-0.9.47 this game works ok except for the aircraft
pausing in mid flight sometimes (and getting shot down for it!). I don't know
if it will help, but i have included a log of the game while it was being run
in a console.

I installed Mathcad 2000 Pro into a fresh wine setup. I can't get the
application to start. Trying to start from a command line resulted in a bunch
of debugger output. Seems wine can't or does not support the "msvcirt.dll" file
containing the ".??0ostrstream@@QAE@XZ" stream function.
I manually installed the "msvcirt.dll" file from a working and up to date
Windows XP Pro machine, from the "system32" folder, in to the local user's
".wine" folder under the same "system32" subfolder.
The application now starts and runs as expected.

There is a weird bug in tree control handling in Enterprise Architect (see
http://www.sparxsystems.com.au/support/faq/ea_on_linux.html for trial version).
Scenario:
- open test project (File->Open project, then open EAExample)
- there is an Project Browser window on the right contaning a tree control
- perform a delayed double click on some tree node (e.g. 'Project Model') - the
in-place edit mode is activated
- change the name of the node from 'Project Model' to 'Test'
- select the second node named 'Example diagrams' - this action is supposed to
quit edit mode and assign the new name to the first node
- instead new name is assigned to the freshly selected second node, so 'Project
models' become 'Test'
This bug is quite old - I've seen it on various Wine/EA versions.

Wine's virtual desktop window should set itself to fullscreen mode when its
size matches the screen size.
Having it as normal window in this case is not useful.
But there are some cases where a fullscreen virtual desktop window would be
useful:
* A fullscreen game has a menu with a small screen size but allows the user to
set the in-game screen size. If the in-game screen size is the same as the X
desktop, this allows for the menu being windowed while the game itself is
fullscreen.
* A fullscreen game kills itself if other programs are activated while it is
running.
* Some bug prevents a fullscreen game from running outside a virutal desktop.
(and yes, all three of these are Worms Armageddon)

Choosing GTA III from the Wine menu in Ubuntu.
GTA III successfully *installs* in Wine 1.1.1, but it does not run. An
"Unhandled Exception" error pop-up window appears. I am running Ubuntu Linux
(Hardy, 8.04).
These are the steps to reproduce the bug.
1 - Install GTA III.
2 - From the Applications, Wine menu, select "Play GTA III".
3 - You should now get an error pop-up window which says-
"Unhandled exception: 80000101

My feeling is that this shouldn't be all that difficult to fix. If it can be
fixed, one of the all-time-classic games will be able to be played in Wine...

When trying to install Assasin's Creed you can try and change the install
directory. Clicking the button to change the folder brings up another Install
Shield window, but it is behind the main window (it's the same size so unless
you guess that it's there and hidden you may not even notice it). Moving the
main window exposes the second Window. Now when you click to select the folder
on the second window the new window appears behind THAT window too, so you have
to move the second Window to get to the file browser.
Very messy. Screenshot should help explain the problem.

can't click anywhere on the virtual desktop and I have to kill it.
I'm running Wine 0.9.59 on PCLinuxOS. I built wine from source and installed
Photoshop CS2 as instructed on Winehq's appdb. Only thing I changed was that I
also copy pasted all my fonts from windows into my fonts folder in drive_c.
I am also able to reproduce this bug in the latest version of sidux using

I tried running Photoshop.exe using right click and open with wine and also
wine "C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Photoshop.exe" from terminal
Both times it freezes when I save for web.

An approximation of Japanese legacy application
There are so many issues I don't know where to start.
The good thing is the input sort of works so there must be something present in
Wine that handles it one way or another. However, it is unusable in its current
state.
First, a CJK font is needed which is not normally present in Wine. Also Wine
cannot pull characters that do not exist in current font from other fonts so
all relevant system fonts have to be mapped to something that actually contains
the characters.
For Japanese the font Kochi Gothic is quite useful but it does not contain much
in the latin range.
Now in the Wine notepad the Japanese characters are displayed only if you go to
the font selection, select a font with Japanese characters, and select the
Japanese script. I don't know why is that, some Latin accented characters are
displayed even if Japanese script is selected but not the other way around.
Now typing Kana (and even Kanji) works with scim in notepad except the cursor
is always positioned in front of the part just inserted (is not moved after
inserting characters). Doing some cursor movement appears t orestore the cursor
to the right position.
However, typical win32 application is codepage based, and would only work with
SJIS encoding. After generating a SJIS Japanese locale and executing the
included test application with
LANG=ja_JP ./testwin.exe
I get the text displayed correctly. Unfortunately, now the input does not work
because scim runs in UTF-8, and wine in SJIS. This is the same as any other X
applications run in that locale. However, starting a whole X session in an
obscure Japanese locale is not a solution (although it seems the application
would work).

The built-in updater has some quirks.
First, the dialog that says updates are available
has a "Details" button. If you click that,
it gives you a tree control with checkboxes
for each updatable component. Clicking on
one of the checkboxes causes the dialog to
be dismissed! This is surprising and probably wrong.
Second, once update is complete, it asks whether
you want to update. Whatever you do, the app
keeps running. Even restarting the app doesn't
make the update finish; you have to explicitly quit and
run wineboot by hand.
Other than that, it seems offhand to work.

The installer for Lord of Destruction fails when trying to patch d2char.mpq.
The bug is apparent in the recent CVS and 20040615 versions of wine.
To reproduce this bug:
1) Install Diablo II. I've experienced the problem with both the multiplayer
and full installation levels. I'd recommend using the multiplayer install just
because its faster.
2) Attempt to install the Lord of Destruction Expansion. About midway through
the process the bug presents itself.
If you are using 20040615, the installer will appear to freeze after copying
the
file c:\Program Files\Diablo II\xreadme.htm
If you are using cvs, an additional error window will appear that displays the
following message:

I use opensuse 10.1
I am describing the experience with application
//Microsoft Bookshelf Basics dictionary 98// running on wine.
In wine version 0.9.45 I had no problems with the above mentioned application.
I was happy user. But I have problems with next versions.
The fonts are scrambled (some glyphs are not readable) since version 0.9.47 to
0.9.49. (I don't know whether version 0.9.46 is O.K. beacause it is not listed
in archive in sourceforge.net for opensuse 10.1)
In wine version 0.9.48 to 0.9.49 the ENTER key is not working when the
//Contents// tab is active.
The ENTER key works only in //Find// tab.
I have no other choice than sticking with version 0.9.45 that suits me the best
so far.
Please, see the attachements that reflect version 0.9.49 and 0.9.45.

Probably reported in comment #6 of Bug 3196, but I guess it is a different bug
than the original (fixed) Bug 3196.
With debugging off, I get same output:

Turning debugging ON probably includes some delays in operation*, and the file
may open from time to time. Once the file is open, the application is fully
usable.
* The debug log outputs many lines of:
warn:gdi:GDI_GetObjPtr Invalid handle (nil)
which slows down the application.

Japanese font in utorrent cannot be displayed correctly
Hi wine developer,
i have a problem in displaying language other than english in utorrent.
The menu bar of utorrent is okay (the bar containing File, Option and Help),
while the text inside the main screen of utorrent is totally unreadable.(See
the attachment)
The problem exists in wine 0.9.5x (acturally i tired many version) + utorrent
1.61/1.7.x.
Finally, i fixed the problem by adding this registory
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\FontSubstitutes\Tahoma => IPA Pゴシック.
Would wine devleopers add this registory in the next release of wine ?
Is there any bad impact after adding this registory ?
Of coz ipag.ttf is not a good font for global users, but i think there is
another good alternative.
To reproduce the bug,
rm -fr ~/.wine
wine utorrent.exe

I think that wine odbc internal functions fail to call unixODBC routines.
I tried many thinks, to set
export LIB_ODBC_DRIVER_MANAGER=/usr/lib/libodbc.so.1.0.0

Install procedure used with Wine-Doors files
While installing Delorme 2006 Plus under WINE XP, the installer stopped with
several Windows errors and eventually locked up while doing a "File Transfer".
After killing the winedebug message with ^C, the install continued until
finally halting. With great difficulty, I was able to kill the install process
while in the "File Transfer" lockup. The program did start and run but did not
work properly, with errors tabbing from field to field, and the "Find Tab"
error common with Delorme would not allow the "find" feature to work.
It was installed on a new laptop (Compaq F750US) with a new and updated Gutsy
Kubuntu 7.10 install and with Wine-doors. The Wine doors installed drivers are
listed in one of the attached files.
The attached files are the dmesg output, the terminal window messages, and the
steps I took to attempt the install. A screen shot of the Wine_doors message is
included.

How should I write the command properly? This had never been necessary in the

and 84 MB as zip file. It may be too big to know where the error come from.
If you wish I can make another log.

Summary: GIT of 16.11 Exeption becaus of VBA while analysing a

While analysing a text using Workbench, Trados is fully and correctly counting
the words, however is throwing an exception at the end.
Here is the wording on the logs:

fixme:advapi:DeregisterEventSource (0xcafe4242) stub
Word: the add-in template (.dot file) is invalid.
Note: Is is only counting the words in the 1st try. On the second try it is not
counting anymore.
Problem is only with doc files (Workbench is unformatting .doc files to rtf).
Counting rtf files is fine.
With rft files it is not crashing, after the exception (.doc files) it is
closing.
Attached the .dot template.

Summary: Error during the installation of the .net 2 in Trados
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.49.
Platform: HP
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: wine-net
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: yolande(a)haneder.biz
I have been using the wineprefix from 0.9.44 where I could install IE and Gecko
(not working in 0.9.49).
I don't want to add this in the bug list from the .net component since I can't
be sure where it actually come from but so far I have never seen anybody with
this bug on the installation of .net 2.
This had been seen on the installation with 0.9.49 of .net2 on a prefix from
0.9.44. Maybe next time I can confirm it for a new prefix once the IE can be
installed again (at the moment I get a message of an older IE already installed
when I try the setup of IE6, which is not true).
You can find the log as attachment.
