With default AeDebug Auto=1 and standalone .NET 1.1 installation you won't notice it because this exception doesn't affect overall "success" result of installer. You can capture output from console to see winedbg actually spawned. See the attached log of a crash of the newer version. Hope that helps. It seems to have been dropped, so here's one of the two bugs it reports: Running light.exe from wix on a wixobj file with a non-versioned file as a component prints a diagnostic error indicating ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND using wine's builtin of version.dll and msi.dll, but ERROR_RESOURCE_DATA_NOT_FOUND using wine's builtin of msi.dll and native version.dll. ... version.dll's GetFileVersionInfoSizeW does return ERROR_FILE_NOT_FOUND when trying to get the version of a file that does not contain a version (for example, a text file). This is because it relies on VERSION_GetFileVersionInfo_16 to do the file existance check, which returns 0 (meaning file does not exist) if LoadLibrary16 fails. In a random time of playing, the game crashes. I have tried reinstalling, upgrading to the latest patches. I have tried Paradise Island expansion. I have tried vanilla tropico 1.0. I have tried upgrading kernel (currently 2.6.25-r7), ati-drivers (now I have the latest one) and wine. I have tried it with 1.0.0 and 1.1.3 for a good time. I have tried disabling audio (someone tipped me to do so), to use an iso instead of a cd (didn't work) and using an original cd. I have tried it in english and in italian. It just plays fine till it crashes for no apparent reason. I noticed that if I save and after short it crashes, it is more likely to crash in the same time (i.e. when landing a boat). I attach here two bugreport, one with audio (lasted very little time) and uno without audio (it worked around 30 minutes). My distro is Gentoo. The InDesign open and place dialogs are customised open file dialogs, created using dialog templates. The crash is due to a null pointer dereference by the application during the CDN_INITDONE WM_NOTIFY callback from the FileOpenDlgProc95 function comdlg32/filedlg.c. The root cause can be traced further back to the WM_INITDIALOG callback. This passes a pointer to a data structure via the lCustData field of the OPENFILENAME structure which I assume is being stored in memory for later callbacks (e.g. WM_NOTIFY) to use. Looking further into into the WM_INITDIALOG callback, during this a WM_SETTEXT message is sent to a group-box control on the dialog box. On wine this results in a WM_CTLCOLORSTATIC callback to the dialog, however this callback does not occur on windows. I believe this spurios WM_CTLCOLORSTATIC callback is the cause of the crash. I have reproduced this problem with a small demo program (see attached). This basically creates a new dialog box and when it receives it WM_INITDIALOG notification it calls SendDlgItemMessage to send a WM_SETTEXT message to set the text of a 'group box' control on the dialog, basically mimicking the InDesign behaviour. The programs prints the notifications that it receives to stdout. Was unable to reproduce on 0.9.45 so far. Though it suffers from other bugs unrelated to this one so I filed this issue as separate bug. Tried installing from /media/audition/Adobe Audition 1.5/setup.exe but it didn't complete. (I think the other Setup just calls this one anyway.) It starts the installer and gets to the screen that says "This setup will install Adobe Audition 1.5 on your computer. To continue, click next." After pressing Next, it disappears, and I get the attached error messages. Sorry if this is my mistake, I'm pretty new to Wine. But it again wants this pack to be installed... .ppt-files run fine(tested a lot from different office-versions). Upon trying to launch it, it will display the startup banner, then instantly exit. I've used the following methods to try load the program: Launcher (on Desktop) - env WINEPREFIX="/home/paulw/.wine" wine "C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash 8\Flash.exe" Run Application - env WINEPREFIX="/home/paulw/.wine" wine "C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash 8\Flash.exe" and wine "C:\Program Files\Macromedia\Flash 8\Flash.exe" and wine ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Macromedia/Flash\ 8/Flash.exe Aswell as in a terminal by cd'ing to the folder and then launching flash cd ~/.wine/drive_c/Program\ Files/Macromedia/Flash\ 8/ wine Flash.exe When running in a Terminal, I get the error attached. I have tried wiping my Wine installation and re-installing from scratch, including fresh installs of Flash 8. I also installed Flash 8 through Wine itself. As a side note. I downloaded the demo from the website (http://www.dynamic-html-editor.com/en/download.asp), which actually has a warning on the download page telling Mac and Linux users that they need to use Virtual PC, VMware, or "another Windows emulator" to run the program. The demo installs fine. When I tried to run the program, I got an initial screen telling me this was just a demo, and when I clicked okay, the program crashed. When the APC_VIRTUAL_QUERY user APC is queued, remote thread 001b is selected/destined to carry out the APC. After thread 001a and 001b woke up, a dynamic library is loaded from thread 001a which results in LOAD_DLL_DEBUG_EVENT dispatched. This initiates the suspension of all threads in the child process (SIGUSR1 is sent for 001a and 001b). Thread 001a is suspended first, 001b next. The suspension of 001b happens to a time when 001b is about to carry out the APC_VIRTUAL_QUERY. Meanwhile thread 0009 (calling process) is waiting for APC completion result forever because it's blocked by VirtualQueryEx in debugger loop, unable to receive and process any debug event. There are lots of breakpoint events triggered from parent. This is part of SafeDisc 4.x and used for on-the-fly decryption of code sections (child decrypts code of father). When PunkBuster is initialized (loading of pbcl = client, pbag = agent), the following services should get started: PnkBstrA.exe, PnkBstrB.exe and finally the kmode driver PnkBstrK.exe The service process "PnkBstrA.exe" is started from main process "BF2.exe" (which is a debuggee itself). No debug flags (DEBUG_PROCESS | DEBUG_ONLY_THIS_PROCESS) are specified in process creation flags. The debugger (child of parent, receives the process creation event) does not make debugger_attach() to the newly created child process. The child process seems to inherit the state of being a "debuggee": wine server -> new_process -> set_process_debugger( process, parent->debugger ); The parent got its process->debugger from debugger_attach(). This leads to a problem in child process startup code: "dlls/kernel32/process.c:start_process()" checks the PEB->BeingDebugged field and if set, a system breakpoint is encountered before the entry code is called. This breakpoint results in debug event - seen by debugger. Unfortunately this event is _not_ expected by debugger because it didn't expect another debuggee (child) to be created. Ok, long story short solution: If you debug a process by attaching to an already created process, you _must_ treat default debugging flags as if the process has been created with DEBUG_ONLY_THIS_PROCESS, meaning that all childs created by debuggee will NOT automagically become debuggees. There seem to be '2' controls between them when you move through the buttons with the keyboard arrows. This dialog appears when establishing a connection to a server, putty asks for a confirmation to accept rsa2 keys. I also noticed that the OK / Cancel dialog seems to have 'two' more tabs position, so instead of going to OK when you press arrow key on Cancel, it goes 'nowhere' two times. If you use the tab key it seems to work fine. In 0.9.46 I was able to run Google Sketchup 6 stable enough to work (only the toolbars and menus don't refresh correctly). After the update to 0.9.58 Sketchup no longer runs and I don't get any error message. Then in the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Google\SketchUp6\GLConfig\Display\HW_OK changing value from 1 to 0 (It was set to 1 because Sketchup worked with 0.9.46) cause Sketchup to show a popup window with error "Can't initialize OpenGL: ChoosePixelFormat fails" After uninstalling 0.9.58 and reinstalling 0.9.46 Sketchup works again... Moved .wine to .wineold. Run "winecfg" to create new clean .wine directory. Downloaded installer for Sketchup (version 6). Run installer (worked without problems). Run Sketchup, wants to install Gecko for html rendering, installs fine. Some openGL problem(?) comes up, which seems to be fixed once I change the registry: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE/GOOGLE/SKETCHUP6/GLCONFIG/DISPLAY/HW_OK to 0x1 (from 0x0) If I then restart Sketchup the main window pops up, together with two small windows (help and some setup window). In the main window the menu bar is displayed correctly, but the drawing window shows garbage (just white with some odd lines drawn on it, no coordinate system, etc. which is normally displayed). The setup window has a "continue" button, once I press it the application shuts down and a google bug reporting window comes up. Bug reproduces every time I run Sketchup. After it crashes, wine contionues to write very big .dmp files in the wine c:\windows\temp directory. Theese files are in the order of 1-2 GB! It still autosaves so one can still try to use sketchup, with occational crashes. But these big files add up, suddenly u run out of harddrive, wine continues to write in the background until the computer comes to a standstill. After resetting the computer with the powerbutton, I had trouble even getting linux to start again, cause the disk was so full. If you describe what happens and send a report, bug splat starts transmitting something but will never finish. The little 'sending error report'-window can not be shut down. You have to use the gnome-system monitor to shut down that process. I think this bug should be prioritised so that the google developers see the Sketchup crashes, and can go on to fix the bugs. When I try to install TimeShift Demo, it asks to agree with the license agreement. The option "I agree" is grayed out, so I thought that after scrolling the license it will activate - it won't. It will be grayed out no matter of what I am doing. I've tried to use WinXP and Win98 compatibility mode. I've noticed that when I press "Next" on the first screen I can see "Untitled Window" on my taskbar. I really don't know what is going on, or how to fix it. Wine pops only "IsWow64Process" and SetWindowRgn not supported on other thread window, that's all. Just in case I've attached my debug output. I don't know if this game works, because I can't install it. I've tried to remove .wine directory, but it didn't help. I am running a sample that allows basic ink writing and recognition under Wine-1.1.1. For it to work, InkObj.DLL and Wisptis.exe binaries are required. I install them via the Microsoft Windows Journal Viewer. InkObj requires unimplemented functions of GdiPlus, so I install it using winetricks. Also some text recognizer must be installed. I own Tablet XP (1 license) so I copy a recognizer dll and another required file from my XP partition to ~/.wine and register them. Now when I launch "BasicRecognition.exe", it fails in it's initialization sequence (judging by the source code) and gives me some output. The Installation script and output log are attached. Start installer. Note font (print snapshot or whatever). Install application, Quit installer. Start installer again. Font displayed is different. With WordPerfect Office X3, the effect is obvious as the 'wrong' font is a symbol font. With WordPerfect Office 12, the 'wrong' font is very narrow (I think this may have previsouly been reported as <<poor rendering>>). Problem affects not just the installers but also service packs and the applications themselves (particularly Presentations). I would expect it affects all installed applications. To confirm the problem ... 1. remove all references to Corel installed fonts from system.reg which ever way you choose but the following works: cd .wine mv system.reg system.reg~ sed -e '/TrueType.*C:.*\.TTF/d' -e '/TrueType.*C:.*\.ttf/d' system.reg~ > system.reg 2. move Corel installed fonts to one side for a moment: mv drive_c/windows/Fonts drive_c/windows/Fonts.wpo mkdir drive_c/windows/Fonts 3. Start installer. Font is back to what is was before installation. Quit installer. 3. Put back a bad font: cp -p drive_c/windows/Fonts.wpo/WPCO03N_.TTF drive_c/windows/Fonts 4. Start installer. Symbol font makes screen indecypherable. 5. Try other fonts. Not all override the 'good' font. MTEXTRA.TTF and WPHV04N_.TTF do. Downloads ? WordPerfect Office X3: http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=uk/ProcessLayout&lc=en&ppg=… Professional (aka not Trial) Edition is 'fun' to install. See bug 14106. WordPerfect Office 12: Not available for download anymore as far as I can tell. Perhaps one of the nice people who contributed to bug 2547 can help.
