It seems people regularly type in version numbers wrong. For example there are
test reports for Joost 0.10.4 and 0.10.4 and 0.12. This is interesting, since
the latest version is 0.10.2.
Obviously the one for 0.12 was intended for 0.10.2. I am not sure what version
was intended as 0.10.4. It seems there is no way to correct the version
numbers in these reports.

ReportedBy: jcollins(a)asgardsrealm.net
I'm not quite sure where this request should be filed, so here goes.
I've found that some newer displays (laptops specifically) are not able to
provide the older traditional resolutions (640x480 or 800x600).
For instance on my T61p, only the following resolutions are available:
$ xrandr
Screen 0: minimum 640 x 512, current 1920 x 1200, maximum 1920 x 1200
default connected 1920x1200+0+0 0mm x 0mm
1920x1200 50.0* 51.0 60.0 61.0
1680x1050 52.0
1600x1024 53.0
1400x1050 54.0
1280x1024 55.0
840x525 56.0
800x512 57.0
700x525 58.0
640x512 59.0
Some applications will not start unless they can change to their desired
resolution (BF1942's intros require 800x600). While it is possible to
configure wine to provide a windowed virtual desktop, this doesn't tend to work
very well with many games/applications that once started can actual run at one
of the higher native full screen resolutions.
What I'm thinking would be a good compromise would be to simply utilize the
first resolution that would wholly encompass the requested resolution and
center the output when the requested resolution doesn't exist. So, for example
with BF1942, it would get the 1280x1024 screen resolution and the 800x600 intro
movies would be centered.
Does this make sense?

Command and Conquer 3 seems to use animated cursors, and these have never
worked. However, older versions of wine displayed a cursor (basically the
standard black on white pointer, but rotated about 45 degrees
counterclockwise), as of Wine 0.9.57, Wine does not display a cursor at all.
This turned C&C 3 from very playable into completely unplayable, despite being
nearly flawless otherwise (bug 8122 being a minor exception).

I observed this same exact issue under Wine 0.9.59 from the Ubuntu Hardy Heron
repository when it was released... then it was fixed in Wine 0.9.60. Now the
issue is back in Wine 1.0 RC1.
Everything works fine in Microsoft Word 2000, until I minimize the window and
then restore it. Thereafter, the menus ("File", "Edit", "View", etc.) do not
appear when I click on them. There is no visual response either when mousing
over the menus. Also, right-clicking in the workspace no longer pops up a
context menu.
This faulty behavior persists until I close Word and then re-open it, at which
point everything is fine again until I do a minimize/restore.
Please don't let this regression into Wine 1.0, please.
Thanks,
Ben

Previous to Wine 0.9.5x (sorry I can't be more specific) Pro/E 2001
Student/Personal Edition was running rather well and was usable for many things
without crashing. I recently upgraded to Wine 0.9.57 and it stopped working
altogether. That is, it would display the splash screen, remove the splash
screen and then nothing would happen. There were no warnings, errors, etc. -
not even any stub/fixme messages.
Yesterday I updated Wine to 0.9.61 hoping that would fix the problem, but
unfortunately it didn't. I also tried a fresh Wine directory with a fresh
install of Pro/E (with modified batch files so that it'll run under Wine), but
still no luck.
So far as installing goes, it will only install if the Windows version is set
to win95 or win98. Anything greater than that and the installer will complain
that it can't get write access to the Program Files directory.
So far as running goes, it has run the same no matter what the Windows version
was set to.
When it did run, right before starting, wine would spit out four lines of some
stub function that was getting called.
If you need a copy of my modified startup batch file or a copy the install disk
for testing purposes, let me know.

This has been happening for a while now, I'm just now reporting it. When I'm
playing WoW, and I have a scene where the skyline isn't obfuscated, WoW locks
up, and CPU usage spikes. Looking at the ground fixes the problem. This
happens a lot in coastal areas.

I traced the crash to:
dlls/comctl32/listview.c:1716:

changing the line to:
vertInfo.nPage /= (infoPtr->nItemHeight == 0) ? 1 : infoPtr->nItemHeight ;
lets garena continue, but there are problems later on (not in comctl32), but
thats for another bugreport.

Summary: FEAR 1.08: GL errors in D3D8 mode
Product: Wine
Version: 1.1.7
Platform: PC-x86-64
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: P2
Component: directx-d3d
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: liquid.acid(a)gmx.net
CC: hverbeet(a)gmail.com
Hardware: NV35
Driver: nvidia-drivers-173.14.12-r1
The game is set up to use DX8 shaders.
The issue: Lots of GL errors on the console:.
fixme:d3d_shader:shader_glsl_select >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_OPERATION
(0x502) from glUseProgramObjectARB @ glsl_shader.c / 3501
I can confirm that INVALID_OPERATION is really produced by
glUseProgramObjectARB and not by some GL call before it.
The reason why the call fails is this error that appears earlier:
fixme:d3d_shader:print_glsl_info_log Error received from GLSL shader #184:
"(21) : error C7011: implicit cast from \"vec4\" to \"vec3\"\n"
I extracted the GLSL shader source of the faulty program:
#version 120
#extension GL_ARB_texture_rectangle : enable
uniform vec4 PC[8];
uniform sampler2D Psampler0;
uniform sampler2D Psampler1;
uniform sampler2D Psampler2;

vec4 T1 = gl_TexCoord[1];
vec4 T2 = gl_TexCoord[2];
vec4 T3 = gl_TexCoord[3];
vec4 R0;
vec4 R1;
vec4 tmp0;

uniform vec4 PLC1;
void main() {
T0.xyzw = (texture2D(Psampler0, T0.xy).xyzw);
T1.xyzw = (texture2D(Psampler1, T1.xy).xyzw);
T2.xyzw = (texture2DProj(Psampler2, T2.xyw).xyzw);
T3.xyzw = (textureCube(Psampler3, T3.xyzw).xyzw);
R0.xyzw = (vec4(dot((2.0 * (T1.xyz - 0.5)), (2.0 * (T3.xyz - 0.5)))));
R0.xyzw = clamp(R0.xyzw, 0.0, 1.0);
R0.w = (R0.w * R0.w);
R0.w = (R0.w * R0.w);
R1.xyz = (T2.www * PC[0].xyz);
R0.w = (R0.w * R0.w);
R1.xyz = (T0.xyz * R1.xyz);
R0.xyz = (R0.www * R1.xyz);
R0.w = (PLC1.w);
gl_FragColor = R0;
float Fog = clamp(gl_FogFragCoord * gl_Fog.start + gl_Fog.end, 0.0, 1.0);
gl_FragColor.xyz = mix(gl_Fog.color.xyz, gl_FragColor.xyz, Fog);
}
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Like the GLSL compiler already reports, the issue is in line 21:
T3.xyzw = (textureCube(Psampler3, T3.xyzw).xyzw);
textureCube expects a vec3 type as second parameter.
The problem seems to originate from pshader_glsl_tex (in glsl_shader.c) where
the GLSL source is constructed.
Checking the content of mask before
mask |= sample_function.coord_mask;
reveals that the shader compilation only fails when mask is non-zero (at least
in my case). So if it fails it always has a hex value of 80000.
shader_glsl_get_sample_function works correctly.
The WINED3DSP_WRITEMASK_3 mask is set in the "hex_version <
WINED3DPS_VERSION(1,4)" if-branch, through the WINED3DTTFF_DISABLE case.
With the help of Roderick I found the original D3D asm:
ps_1_1
//CTAB
def c1 = 0.000000, 0.000000, 0.000000, 1.000000
tex t0
tex t1
tex t2
tex t3
dp3_sat r0, t1_bx2, t3_bx2
mul r0.a, r0.a, r0.a
mul r0.a, r0.a, r0.a
+mul r1.rgb, t2.a, c0
mul r0.a, r0.a, r0.a
+mul r1.rgb, t0, r1
mul r0.rgb, r0.a, r1
+mov r0.a, c1.a
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
He suspects that the issue originates from dp3_sat.
Adding a "if (sampler_type == WINED3DSTT_CUBE) maks=0;" before "mask |=
sample_function.coord_mask;" fixes the compilation error and also the GL errors
for me.
Adding Henri Verbeet to CC since he designed this part of the code (according
to Stefan Dösinger).
Greets,
Tobias

Hi there,
this is a regression introduced between wine-1.1.0 and wine-1.1.1, bisecting
turns up these commits:
[2d4d18b59dc26b8aee04553671b942071d9213b9] wined3d: Delay render target
activation.
[4f77c29bcf58a88cea8fb833f770aa107960b34e] wined3d: Track depth stencil
location per-surface.
Actually I had to do two bisects, one separate for the glReadBuffer error, and
one for the two other messages.
Affected game: Max Payne 2 (demo)
Wine settings:
OffscreenRenderingMode=fbo
UseGLSL=disabled
Ingame settings:
PostProcessingEffects=medium
PixelShaderSkins=off
Hardware: nVidia Geforce FX 5900
Drivers: nvidia-drivers-173.14.09
GL errors only show up when PP effects are used in the game. There are two
types:
(a) bullettime, using a sepia tone filter
(b) cutscenes, using a motion blur filter
GL errors depend on whether (a) or (b) is currently active:
For (a) I get these GL errors:
(*) fixme:d3d_surface:read_from_framebuffer_texture >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
GL_INVALID_ENUM (0x500) from glReadBuffer @ surface.c / 913
(**) fixme:d3d_shader:shader_arb_deselect_depth_blt >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
GL_INVALID_OPERATION (0x502) from glBindProgramARB(GL_VERTEX_PROGRAM_ARB,
vertexShader->prgId); @ arb_program_shader.c / 1832
And for (b) those:
(*) fixme:d3d_surface:read_from_framebuffer_texture >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
GL_INVALID_ENUM (0x500) from glReadBuffer @ surface.c / 913
(***) fixme:d3d_shader:shader_arb_deselect_depth_blt >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
GL_INVALID_OPERATION (0x502) from glDisable(GL_VERTEX_PROGRAM_ARB) @
arb_program_shader.c / 1840
Note that the errors don't show up with ORM=backbuffer.
This are essentially three errors, I marked them each with asteriks. Notice
that the (*) GL error happens in both "modes".
During bisecting I noticed that the (*) GL error was introduced a different
commit than the (**)/(***) (which are introduced by one and the same commit).
For testing both wine versions (1.1.0 and 1.1.1) the sourcecode was patched
with
http://source.winehq.org/git/wine.git/?a=commit;h=2583975ec799527cebc323891…,
to not hit the slow driver fallback. Wine did only use ARB_tex_rect for NP2
textures then.
This can also be achieved by commenting out the ARB_tex_npot extension line in
wined3d/directx.c
The GL errors still show up with wine git master (last commit:
b572170da5f35a80c6bb07ab8ebcda7a854f27f), there with an additional GL error:
fixme:d3d:apply_draw_buffer >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> GL_INVALID_OPERATION (0x502) from
glDrawBuffers() @ context.c / 1064
However this one (the "draw buffers" one) should be fixed in latest git.
The (*) GL error is introduced by the commit:
[2d4d18b59dc26b8aee04553671b942071d9213b9] wined3d: Delay render target
activation.
(Adding Stefan Dösinger to CC)
The (**) and (***) GL error is introduced by the commit:
[4f77c29bcf58a88cea8fb833f770aa107960b34e] wined3d: Track depth stencil
location per-surface.
(Adding Henri Verbeet to CC)

When I start the application it brings up a window, and shortly thereafter wine

Tried it with a clean ~/.wine directory and wine 1.0-rc2. I also tried wine

What I did:
I was working with Flash 8 on a external monitor. I shutdown flash, then
disconnected the external monitor.
When I started Flash back up, the work window was nowhere to be found (The
splash logo came up and the process was still running).
How I worked around it:
1. Re-attach external monitor, and restart Flash. Flash then displays on the
external monitor.
2. Emulate a virtual desktop, at a ridiculous resolution, so it looks like both
monitors are attached. Now when Flash opens, it will be in one of the corners
of the virtual desktop (If you would like; you can move the window, turn off
virtual desktop, restart flash; and it will position its self where you moved
the window to).
What I think happened:
Flash remembers where the window was last positioned, when it is closed. When
you open it, it tries to position its self where it was closed. If you had a
larger display size, when you last ran flash, it is quite possible that Flash
will now open off the screen (and you won't be able to Alt+Tab to it and move
it, without using wine's virtual desktop).
Desired behavior:
If Flash tries to start off of the screen, it gets repositioned to your current
display size.
FYI: first bug report, sorry if format of ticket is odd. Thanks!

Summary: mingw32: reimp and other tools can't launch each other
Product: Wine
Version: 0.9.49.
Platform: PC
OS/Version: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: trivial
Priority: P2
Component: wine-msvcrt
AssignedTo: wine-bugs(a)winehq.org
ReportedBy: ErV2005(a)rambler.ru
I have windows version mingw32 (g++ (GCC) 3.4.2 (mingw-special) installed in
~/.wine/drive_c/mingw32. It looks like mingw tools like "reimp" can't launch
each other (path for c:\mingw32\bin is specified in registry). I.e. I can use
"wine mingw", "wine reimp", "wine dlltool", "wine as", but reimp can't find
dlltool, dlltool can't find "as" and they fail with messages like
"
reimp: dlltool: No such file or directory
bash-3.1$ g++ (GCC) 3.4.2 (mingw-special)
"
According to debug output (added as attachment), problem occurs in _spawnve
function, which doesn't search for ".exe" version of arguments. (not sure if it
should, but I believe that mingw worked fine with previous versions of wine).
wine was compiled from sources into packages, with default flags.

I had duplicated some code in one of my programs and accidentally forgot to
change the "desired access" for the MapViewOfFile call, despite having changed
this in the OpenFileMapping call.
The code below *incorrectly* succeeds on WINE but fails on Windows XP.
=== EXAMPLE ===
HANDLE h;
void* m;
h = OpenFileMapping(FILE_MAP_READ, FALSE, "Global\Foo");
m = MapViewOfFile(h, FILE_MAP_WRITE, 0, 0, 0);
=== END EXAMPLE ===
Basically I was opening the mapped file READ-ONLY, but was then trying to
create a writable mapping to it.

1. Visit http://www.u3.com/uninstall/default.aspx

5. Save the file.

In Windows, programs can use wmi object to gain information to certain statics

least, wine should give an output of 0's when wmi objects are retrieved, so
that the program doesn't crash.

Ventrilo will eventually hit 100% CPU usage after using it for some time. That

ceases to work, though I can still hear others. The Ventrilo application
itself won't quit when closed once this happens, though killing it with signal

After changing to my on-board nvidia soundcard I haven't noticed the problem
occur again, so it appears to be an interaction with Audigy (emu10k) sound
cards.

Game installed through Wine 1.0 and PlayonLinux
When I click in the launcher to start the game, the sound clip associated to
the "start" button crashes and basically "hicks up" like if the OS would freeze
when you play music and overrides all audio in-game. The game still runs
appropriately however, though very slow considering my specs (Q6600 + 4GB Ram +
Gefore 8800GT)

Normal console output from wine run (no WINEDEBUG)
Using (unpatched) GotY version of the game "No One Lives Forever".
I didn't find a patch for the GotY one. I suspect it's already patched.
Issue: Long audio samples get truncated. This happens for example with the
intro sequence music or when characters have conversations. Audio is simply cut
off at the end. Pretty bad if subtitles are off.
Going to attach the console output. Nothing suspicious there.
Setting component to directx-dsound since I'm pretty sure that NOLF uses a
dsound audio backend.

Summary: Regression: Unable to Install Word Perfect Office 11,

ReportedBy: pbronline-wine(a)yahoo.co.uk
With Wine 1.1.3 I am no longer able to install any MSI based version Word
Perfect Office. I have tried all Wine development versions up to 1.1.7 without
success. By contrast, these version of Word Perfect Office install OK with
Wine 1.1.2 and back to Wine 1.0.0 and earlier. So this is a regression.
The InstallShield installer reports:
"The wizard was interrupted before Paradox could be completely installed."
The console log symptoms are:

It is also necessary to kill an InstallShield program before Wine will exit:
C:\PROG~FBU\COMM~CP1\INST~JM1\Driver\7\INTE~MEX\IDriver.exe -Embedding
I have run a 'full regression' between Wine 1.1.2 and Wine 1.1.3. The end
result of which was:
ubuntu@holly:wine$ git bisect good

Surprised by this result, I ran the regression again. The end result of the
second run was:
$ git bisect bad

I believe that during the second regression I was able to install successfully
using builds against commits made between the two shown above.
I tried installing against the end result of the second regression run. Each
attempt failed. I then attempted the installation using WINEDEBUG=+relay in
order to collect a detailed log for submission. The installation was
successful. I ran the installer again without the WINEDEBUG=+relay and it
failed with the InstallShield wizard claiming it had been interrupted.
Installs are done using a script that starts by deleting .wine to ensure
consistent, valid results. The scripts installs winetricks corefonts wsh56 for
Word Perfect Office 11 and 12 and winetricks corefonts wsh56 gecko fakeie6 for
Word Perfect Office X3. I have used this script for testing purpose since Wine
1.0.0.
Trials against Wine 1.0.0. through 1.1.7 were run in kvm/qemu virtual machines.
A new clone of an up-to-date Ubuntu Hardy was used for each Wine version. The
Ubuntu variant is Xubuntu - an Xfce desktop under gdm. I used SDL to display
VGA output rather than a VNC session.
The regressions were run on a real machine also with an up-to-date Ubuntu
Hardy, but the Kubuntu variant - KDE desktop under kdm. For the sake of
completeness, XDMCP was used to log in to the main server from where an ssh -X
was used to login in to the machine on which the regression were run and the
installations attempted.
I use CC="ccache gcc" to cut down build times. The second regression run was
not expected to compile anything but, since the bisection was not the same, I
guess it must have.
Sorry, but trial versions of these old releases of Word Perfect Office are no
longer available for download.
Any suggestions as to how I can get some information that might be more helpful
?

Since I upgraded to wine 1.0-rc3, whenever an action is needed while in play at
a table, and the big buttons jump up instead of the checkboxes (users of this
program will know what I mean), the window "jumps" a few pixels in the
direction of the upper left corner of the screen. If you don't manually
reposition the window every few games, it might just jump across the borders of
the screen. Not only is this quite annoying, since this hasn't been the case
with wine 0.9.26, which I used before, but it also makes me just a tad seasick
:)
I tried creating a backtrace using gdb, but gdb crashed before Pokerstars
couldn't even connect to it's server.
Is there any other debugger I should use, or is this description clear enough?
